All the tiaras still belong to the Monarch, the ladies only get to borrow them, but it’s fantastic to see her in it, she looks fabulous!

When I saw Sophie wearing those Gems 💎 I couldn’t believe what I saw. Sophie looked sooo beautiful in the lotus tiara and that beautiful necklace. Yes, she definitely deserves to go up a grade in the tiara selection.
It makes sense to wear the Lotus Flower tiara as the Lotus is highly influential as a symbol in Asia.

Everything she chose to wear, for this State Visit, exemplified her strength as a Princess of the United Kingdom, as well as her loyalty, her steadfastness, her love of the Montbatten-Windsor family, and her devotion to the King and Queen Of Great Britain!
Btw, I actually find the the Ruby Burmese Tiara very pretty with the delicate, spindly design. The arch isn’t the best, but overall, the spindles reaching for the central, gorgeous Ruby, create a balanced, harmonic weight in the centralized design, while the rest of he Tiara is trying to support the central arch in a subtle, brilliant pop of Ruby red!!! It is not the most alluring, gorgeously balanced Tiara, but it is a stunning Tiara, nonetheless. IMHO. 👍🥰☮️💟💗

Kudos to Queen Camilla for delving into the jewellery vault & bringing out pieces that haven’t been seen for years. Sophie looked truly royal! Camilla seemed to wear the ruby tiara really well-I think it looks better on her than the late Queen Elizabeth II. 🇦🇺
These tiaras have been seen before, Catherine wore the Lotus Tiara and looked stunning in it for the first time in many years, 100 years I believe, not sure, Camilla the Queen has also worn the tiara with the red stones in it before, always looks stunning, Sophie also looked lovely in the Lotus tiara, glad it was being used again.
@@kookaburralaughs1869The Lotus Flower Tiara has been worn many times prior to Catherine wearing it. Princess Margaret wore it a lot during the years. Her daughter-in-law wore it on her wedding day. The Strathmore Rose Tiara hadn’t been seen in about a century when Catherine wore it.

Queen Elizabeth was a tiny woman, and she could easily be dwarfed by her own jewelry, and often wore very large pieces together, which made her look even smaller. Queen Camilla is much taller, wider shouldered, and wears her hair bigger than Queen Elizabeth's more compact, never-changing helmet. However, I would like to see Queen Camilla change the hair up a little bit.

It's interesting the British royal family are visiting the Japanese royal family whose daughter, a princess, not too long ago gave up her title and all the royal perks to live a quiet life w/her college sweetheart she met while attending school in the US and married.
They live an unassuming and normal life in NYC. Harold & rachel could have easily done exactly the same thing!

I think it would be lovely if William commissioned a brand new tiara for Catherine. One because she is simply amazing and will be a special tiara to pass down to Charlotte. I think Catherine should be asked for her input though as she has amazing taste

There are some jewels in the royal vault, which never get worn. Maybe some of those could be gathered and restyled into a tiara for Catherine.

It’s the Burmese Ruby Tiara, it also has a matching necklace and earrings. Camilla looks great in it, it’s a very big, heavy piece that her late Majesty wore often. Queen Camilla just has the right shaped head and hair to carry off those big heavy pieces.
Sophie deserves to be recognised & it was wonderful to see her actually sparkle.

I agree. Why have such a huge collection of jewels and not display them on all the royal ladies?
Maybe have a few in reserve for the queen. But she can only wear one tiara, necklace, brooch, pair of earrings, etc at a time. Maybe Camilla will be more generous because she has no personal connection to most of the collection. I was happily surprised to see Sophie adorned with some substantial jewels at the banquet. She looked marvelous.
There are tiaras that only Queens can wear, The Vladimir Tiara is one.
Most of these jewels belong to the Crown. They are not the personal possessions of individual royal ladies. So they are somewhat interchangeable among the family.

We praise the Princess of Wales for her amazing character, as we should, but we should appreciate the Duchess of Edinburgh a little bit more as well, she’s also a non-blood royal and yet, she’s always shown her dedication to the duty and the people, Duchess Sophie is an amazing woman.

It seems as though they picked the tiara for the event and then gave it to the second highest female there, who happened to be Sophie in Catherine, POW’s 17:36 absence. She looked phenomenal. My guess is the same tiara will continue to be worn when the BRF welcomes guests from Asia.

Glad to see Sophie being rewarded for her loyalty. I thought only princesses wore tiara's. I think she is a Duchess.
Tiaras aren’t restricted to queens or princesses. Many noble families own tiaras (e.g the Spencer tiara) and even non-titled commoners have worn them (e.g. Elizabeth Taylor). Furthermore, Sophie is married to Prince Edward so technically she’s a princess by marriage but she can’t use the title Princess before her name as she isn’t one in her own right. She’d be addressed as Princess Edward in the same way as Princess Michael of Kent whose first name is Marie-Christine.

A Royal Ducal title ( not an Aristocratic Duke) is a higher rank than a mere Prince.
So Sophie as Duchess of Edinburgh is higher than using her husband's Prince title where she would use Princess Edward.

I doubt that any of the ladies want to wear Meggy's tiara. It doesn't matter if they know they'd rock the look. They probably don't want their name associated with the Duchess of Doom, even in a positive comparison.
Actually, I think the tiara worn by MM at her wedding SHOULD be worn by other ladies in the royal family for the very purpose of assigning it more meaning than just being associated with Meghan. Let that association be put in the past and let Meghan see that it's not her legacy. Let it be done soon please, Camilla.

@blackmac500 I don't hate her. I simply can not find anything redeeming about her and Harry's behavior and disrespect shown to BOTH their families. They've spent the last few years publicly trashing the RF through interviews and TV shows, not to mention the book he wrote. They didn't want anything to do with his family but still insist on using titles that are irrelevant in the U.S. I truly hope King Charles strips them of their titles. They're an embarrassment to the RF, but more importantly, they caused the Queen so much heartache during her final years.

Personally, Sophie looked far more natural in the Lotus tiara she really uplifted all the jewellery she wore from the necklace to the earrings! Her hairstyle and her whole aura matched absolutely perfectly.
Are you asking about the lack of awards for hard-working royals? Well, the royaly men could start commisioned jewellery for thier wives.

I absolutely loved the Lotus Flower Tiara worn as a bandeau by the Queen Mother. I too would love to see this style revived, as Princess Diana memorably did with an emerald choker worn as bandeau.
U should be interested in the family orders of the BRF as it’s quite political. After Di and Fergie received it straight away after marrying in, QEII was a bit more careful about handing it out. I can’t remember how long it took for Sophie and Camilla to receive it, but Catherine only received it after being married to William after 7 years of marriage, and Megan never received QEII’s family order. It’ll be interesting to see how Charles goes about handing his out. Plus they’re surrounded by diamonds so lots of sparkle!

I am so thrilled for Countess Sophie to wear such a beautiful tiara this evening. She definitely has earned the right to wear it. She has wholeheartedly supported the monarchy in recent months during its challenges and has demonstrated her loyalty to the King. She looks absolutely stunning and brings tears to my eyes. I agree that they should share the tiaras more. I think Her Late Majesty was a little tight fisted because she saw tiaras leave the family and not come back. I also think most people agree with you on the ruby tiara.

I was disappointed that QE2 did not gift Katherine with a gift of another tiara after her and William's 10th wedding anniversary a few years ago. Certainly by then Kate had proven herself!
Because of inheritance taxes and other legal issues, it actually makes a lot of sense to keep tiaras just in custody with the Queen or monarch. Denmark actually lost one of their historic tiaras in a divorce, so it’s not a great idea. Thanks for watching!!

Although I’m guessing that the lotus tiara was meant to be worn by Catherine had she been able to attend the event, I admit that Sophie looked gorgeous in it. I also think that she deserves more prominent pieces of jewelry given the position she now has in the Royal Family. Previously I thought that the somewhat limited choice of tiaras Sophie and Catherine had, might have had something to do with the fact that the access to the vault was managed by Angela Kelly who was famous for being difficult to deal with (not only for M.M.). So, I’m looking forward to see the royal ladies wearing pieces that lay long unused.

She'd have been crashing through the chair to sit between the King and the Emperor so she was in all the TV shots, she'd have been grabbing at the gifts the Emperor had brought for Charles, she'd have been ekbowing H out of the way so she could stand in front of him, and she'd have been dragging H away while he was shaking hands with the Empress. And she'd have told the Empress to sit further away from her. South Park would have a ball with this. An episode titled "IF ONLY...."
Japan is an important ally. The RF and UK government could not risk offending the Emperor.
Manners, respectful demeanour and close attention to Protocol would be imperative.
Ms Markle would never have been allowed ANYWHERE near the Emperor and Empress.

I don't know that Diana ' only ' had access to two tiaras ? It was reported that it was her favourite for it's look and comfort and that's why she favoured that one. She could have worn others had she chosen and the Queen had given permission.

It’s interesting that behind the scenes Queen Camilla would have been the one who chose to loan the Lotus Tiara to Sophie. There is a thought process, protocol, hierarchy and symbolism behind the choice of Tiaras. There are also historical, cultural & political factors to be taken into consideration depending on the occasion and who the dignitaries are. I think its fair to say that Tiaras are much more meaningful than meets the eye. I also think it shows that Queen Camilla really values Sophie.
It’s also important to remember that Camilla makes these choices not as an individual but as a Queen & custodian of these Tiaras . So the choices she makes are heavily influenced by protocols etc, not personal feelings.

Perhaps she was given this tiara to wear as it looked as if she was stepping in for the Princess of Wales - who would have been seated next to the Emperor if she had been well enough to attend!! It really is a beautiful tiara - and Sophie looked lovely!!
The lotus flower is important in Asian cultures including Japan that is why Sophie wore the tiara.
