Market is building to a perfect storm. - Dealers are seeing fewer people willing to pay these prices at current rates (with or without additional markup). - Many of those that bought/traded-in at the gouging peak in 20-22 (who may be interested in getting new again), are more likely to be underwater on their current vehicle. They'll either elect to hold onto what they have, or risk going further into debt. - We're already seeing a tightening in the used car market. Smaller lots typically rely on third parties for financing. It's getting harder to for them secure loans for customers these days, which will help drive prices down.
These high prices started two years ago. FCA is pricing their vehicles higher to help pay for their EV future. When 2023 Gladiators didn't sell, they heavily discounted them to move. They will need to do the same thing for the 2024 models because I am watching them sit on the lots. New wrangler sales are slowing but there always seem to be someone dumb enough to pay $50k-$70k for one.
I don't think they've 'heavily discounted' them so much as dealers had to reconsider charging markups once they realized the hype has died out; they're out of suckers willing/able to wreck their finances on an inflated car payment. And even now, they're being deceptive about it. Another youtuber showed a Willys trim Gladiator that the dealer claimed was 'discounted' to 43k from a claimed 58k... if you visit the Jeep website... there's no possible way to spec one to that price (with the options that i could see on it). Dealers are now trying to use their inflated markup to make it seem like selling it at a 'fair' price is somehow a 'steal'.
That 4ex getting 49 miles of use is hard to pass up for an extra $5k plus. I have a TJ still and won't pay the high prices for a wrangler. The Dealers aren't talking about why, but people are obviously paying.
About a month ago I was following an F-250 basic stock truck with a flat bed on the back. I call a farmer truck. Brand new no plates. He hit a small bump in the road and the right wheel started shuddering. Came apart and the whole wheel assembly folded under the truck and came to a full stop. If the suspension on a F-250 could do this. Imagine the cheapness in what they are building now.
If Stellantis were smart they would scrap everything but the wrangler and ram pick up. It’s all garbage quality, but people over look it for those two models. Make it their own brand. Still need to lower prices 30%.
When the vehicles don’t sell, then they stop -limit- the production. Layoffs at manufacturing plants and management levels. Dealerships go out of business. They will start selling direct to consumer. People still buy vehicles they can’t afford just to look good to their neighbors and people they drive by and in traffic.
There are still new 2023 wranglers in the Chicago area, the sales have really plummeted They’re not iconic anymore and the younger generation could care less about a Jeep
Stellantis isn't going to survive their pricing, I don't know if any car manufacturer will. Labor is one of the largest costs of vehicle manufacture, when you consider benefits, retirement, etc. The unions are killing auto companies. Just wait until the new wage increases hit and prices REALLY go up. They think they aren't selling now? With a 40% wage increase it will bury the big 3.
Personally, I love my 2009 Patriot. I purchased it new and paid it off in 2 years. It is stripped with only an am/fm radio and air conditioning. It has the 2.4 L engine that has a timing chain, not a rubber belt. Apparently, Jeep got rid of the Patriot because it had old tech. That's EXACTLY why I love it. I love the fact that my friggin oil change last week cost me a messily 20 bucks!
I had a 15 Patriot but sunk a ton of $ in it..sensor 1200 bucks & it left me stranded 3x. Traded for a Toyota & I hate it! I know I'm the minority..I want to trade for another jeep 😅 loved the simple Patriot
4XE, the model no customers ask for and don't want to pay extra for. And the European CEO has no idea what people expect from Jeep, his idea may not match the customers ideas. The price points certainly don't.
A key point often missed is these vehicles are simply not worth the asking price. The cost to value is simply not there. Car prices should be cut in half at a minimum.
The problem is that Dodge, Jeep, Ram don’t sell directly to the consumer. Their customers are their dealers and they don’t care if the dealer sells the vehicle. Because they’re on a floor plan. The company won’t lose any money it’ll be the dealer and the bank when they have to repo the car from the dealer. The dealer will then have to take their loses and buy more inventory from dodge.
Ok so these are Canadian prices. Right now you can buy a 4 door jeep wrangler for low 50k Canadian which is high $30k US. So while some of these are very expensive. They do offer more affordable ones too.
My sister has commuted up and down a steep, dirt road from the prairie down to the valley, for work, for many years. She always liked the Cherokees and the Grand Cherokees. She could always find a used one at a good price point, and just bought another one the other day. Good deal. The new one is in good shape. A Toyota probably would have lasted twice as long, but they were always too spendy, she thought. I've always bought Toyotas, used, and only had the money to get a new one in 2012, for the first time. I didn't trade in my old one. I just bought the new one. Now I have two Toyota pickup trucks, with the 31-year-old and the 12-year-old trucks still going strong. I wouldn't touch a new Jeep with a 10-foot pole, but I would probably be tempted if I came across one of the older ones, with the straight 6.
Because they are not updating the limit of the "luxury" tax, everything is going to be taxed as a luxury at some point. People should have honestly seen this when it was introduced. Inflation will just bring the luxury tax to everything you buy over time, just as intended.
I was going to upgrade my 2011 Sahara wrangler, 86,000 dollars here in Canada for a new one, like you say after taxes wow way to much for a jeep. I put 6000$ dollars into my 2011. Way better value.
I cant even afford used ones anymore, mine is 05 im using it's getting long in the tooth, I gotta get a closer job where I can bike, looking at older Mazdads, Toyotas, older chevy Colorado or Canyon.
Ive had jeeps for a long time but i traded my jk for a 4runner just because honestly cost is cheaper for a 4runner and more reliable than a new wrangler. Id love for a new rubicon but I’m probably going to just build a tj/lj for my deeper offroading adventures

Welcome to the wonderful world of the haves and have-nots. The auto manufacturers are not stupid, I think, but maybe this is a strategy to make internal combustion vehicles so expensive that people have to turn to electric. The problem with this is that the electric vehicles are also insanely expensive.
What made Dodge/Jeep/Ram so popular was cool looking cars with modern looks inside and out at a price better than their competition. I had a loaded rebel that I paid low 60's in 2020. I had a 2020 Power Wagon with EVERYTHING in it. paid 73. Both these on Canada's build and price are OVER 100k!!! Obsoletely ridiculous. 2025 BigHorn for 78k!!! They killed off the beloved HEMI, an amazingly branded engine. So they essentially killed off everything that made them popular and replaced it with delusional pricing in a Canadian economy that's failing due to poor leadership. There is absolutely no way I am paying these prices for my favorite brand and their sales numbers show that I am not alone in feeling this way. I am in automotive sales and I can tell you there is another side of this that I have not seen being discussed. All the talented sales people and managers in Dodge stores are leaving. No money in it anymore. Stores here in Ottawa that used to sell 80 - 140 cars per month now struggle to sell 20-30 per month. It's a disaster and from what I see with their 2025 pricing......it's about to get much worse.
Great point. Canadians get especially hosed with the high sticker prices, brutal taxation, and a nasty dollar exchange means very few people even care to buy not. It’s clearly not good for business
Finally, someone is saying it. I hate all these other cartubers be like "omg, these cars aren't selling and whhhyyyyyy" because it's so f*cking expensive. It costs over 100k for a vehicle really worth 15-20k brand new.

Yes many people are
More worried about perception
There are still new 2023 wranglers in the Chicago area, the sales have really plummeted
They’re not iconic anymore and the younger generation could care less about a Jeep
Jeep is going out of business because the word is getting around that they make garbage vehicles.
Your car is not a home.
Cars are to expensive
Way too much. Gotta wait for better deals or no deal
Are these dealership mark ups or does jeep think this pricing is valid.
They believe this is legit and pushed as much as the market would bear. It’s over now though and they are stuck trying to recalibrate
Cheep Cheep Cheep!🤣🤣🤣
Cheap makes expensive sales
Indeed
The jeep CEO doesn't give a 💩 about selling junk at 3x the of what they are worth
Pepto bismol pink fits the perfect vibe
Ok so these are Canadian prices. Right now you can buy a 4 door jeep wrangler for low 50k Canadian which is high $30k US. So while some of these are very expensive. They do offer more affordable ones too.
They think we Americans are made of money.
They stole all the money....
Bought a new 4 door RHD in 2016 $33,500.
... it's had constant problems. Replaced the engine.
It's been out of service the last 3 years 😢
Just bought a compass 2024 TrailHawk for 34.800 MSRP was 39, 065.
Bit of a discount
I hope the engine is not the notorious oil guzzler 2.4 tigershark engine is it 😬🫣😳🤷🏿♂️🤦🏿
I'm the biggest jeep fan !!! I had 8 jeeps in my lifetime...price is way to expensive and I will never buy a jeep over 30k
We went to look at one it was 75k , we left it right there at the dealership
There's no way people who are making average income can afford these vehicles! The cost of living is so high there's nothing left over!
Because they are not updating the limit of the "luxury" tax, everything is going to be taxed as a luxury at some point.
People should have honestly seen this when it was introduced.
Inflation will just bring the luxury tax to everything you buy over time, just as intended.
They are not Ferraris!
Insane prices for whatever vehicles
Whoever is running Jeep must've gone to business school with the guy who runs Disney/Marvel.
Haha nice comment. Cheers
I was going to upgrade my 2011 Sahara wrangler, 86,000 dollars here in Canada for a new one, like you say after taxes wow way to much for a jeep. I put 6000$ dollars into my 2011. Way better value.
As far as I'm concerned ,I want function over form and jeep isn't reliable
lol the website says they are only $800 “bi weekly “
I cant even afford used ones anymore, mine is 05 im using it's getting long in the tooth, I gotta get a closer job where I can bike, looking at older Mazdads, Toyotas, older chevy Colorado or Canyon.
I guess the CEO hasn’t heard, EVs are not selling in the US.
I'm predicting...since Halloween is coming up in October...manufacturers of Halloween face masks will make one with a "Jeep grill" on the front!
Ive had jeeps for a long time but i traded my jk for a 4runner just because honestly cost is cheaper for a 4runner and more reliable than a new wrangler. Id love for a new rubicon but I’m probably going to just build a tj/lj for my deeper offroading adventures
"We give consumers freedom of choice." Meaning; Expensive and obscenely expensive. CEOs surrounded by bunch of "Yes Sir" suck ups. Even CEOs are suck ups to the board. Hey, can't blame them, they all got bills and mortgages to pay. Yes sir!
Crazy pricing. Let em sit!
All these EVs….can’t wait to see these insane companies who go all-in on EVs realize nobody wants them.
It seems like governments want tbus
Guys who run these car companies are the same guys who think the jets are going to the super bowl every year.
In the 1960's, a new car averaged 4 months of the average take home pay. Now, they're 16 months of the average take home pay. Any questions?
Keep in mind that many families need 2 cars. So 2 jeeps can cost over 200k! That's a condo if not a small house.
Kia steps in with the fully loaded souls for 25k. But we don’t want them. We want the big expensive ones to look cool and be more comfortable
Lmfao😅😂 $50k for a compass .. thats hilarious. Youd have to be a fool
And there are so r big time fools
If Stelantis was smart they would bring back K type cars again, budget friendly yet affordable
If car prices go up, the insurance for those cars will also go up.
Finally, someone is saying it. I hate all these other cartubers be like "omg, these cars aren't selling and whhhyyyyyy" because it's so f*cking expensive. It costs over 100k for a vehicle really worth 15-20k brand new.
