- A lil meme video about the thought process behind the (algorithm's) choice of making the M4A3e2 76 (w) the same BR as the Tiger II (p). This video serves as both a meme and a genuine questioning of why these two tanks are at the same BR despite their clear differences. I think mediums at 5.3 to 5.7 have the same problem, russia gets a t-34-85 and germany gets a panther, the panther can pen that t-34 any where, the t-34-85 can only pen it on the outer portions of the turrent on the panther. Its also slower than than the panther too.

people love bringing up the T-34-85, yet my ass in the chi-ri, objectively a 4.7 tank shoved up to 5.0, can chomp on panthers every day of the week. (really only tiger Es scare me, because i actually cant do anything to their fronts)

@@Thekilleroftanks That is one of the biggest problems with balancing ground stuff, is that some nations can easily deal with heavily armored foes at certain BRs whilst others might have little to no chance at all at the same BR range
Its also annoying that a lot of the german mains cry on the internet for their tanks not being "op" bc they dont know how to use it and germany in my opinion has a higher bias than the is 2
@@emperorofwarusthundus All I know is that the WW2 German tanks are a good deal of fun to play and usually are not that stressful (unless you are in a Tiger II H in a full uptier lol but that is the case for any 6.7 tbh)
It's not all about armor and penetration. 76 Jumbo has a much better reload, more gun depression, faster turret rotation, double the vertical targeting speed, better optics, and STABLIZER.
Only a somewhat better reload but I see your points for sure. This video isn't trying to say that the 76 Jumbo is useless or that it should be 5.7, it is just saying that it should be just a bit lower of a BR than the Tiger II P (to me at least). It is a solid enough tank, just one that I think is better suited at 6.0

Okay but the sherman has a stabalizer, so even though that stabilization provides 0 benefit due to the non-penetrating gun, that makes up for the lower speed, armor, survivability, and firepower.

it is against anything that isnt heavily armoured. like why do you think you still see chaffees at like 6.0 games.
hell i had a 6 kill streak today in my chaffee, solely because i had a stab and no one else did. that thing is a game changer if youre smart about it. but this is warthunder where 60% of the population is so fucking dumb world of tanks bots are smarter.
@@Thekilleroftanks But when it is against something that is heavily armored, and your first shot must be absolutely perfect whilst your opponent's first shot can be almost anywhere they want on your tank, you will probably begin to feel some level of frustration at some point (although it is technically good experience for building up your aiming skills tbh)
But dont worry, the majority od the playerbase will tell you that it is, in fact, balanced, because gaijin uses statistics that nobody has ever seen

the jumbo is insanely hard for lower tiers and equal tier tanks to kill it from the front but having a fairly weak gun, definition of a tanky tank, and the tiger 2p being a glass cannon seeing anything with a 150mm of pen can kill it from the front.

Just to note the p in tiger 2P doesn’t stand for Porsche. the p actually stands for prototype. the turret on p was the preproduction model where the H model was the production line model. people get confused because Porsche did make a model variant of the tiger 1 this model being the tiger 1P. the tiger 1 henschel and the tiger 1 Porsche conducted rigorous testing on hitlers birthday august 20th 1942. the Porsche tiger 1 wasn’t even able to start testing because the electric drive in the tiger 1P failed and caught fire. The Porsche tiger 1 heavy tank idea was scraped and the 100 hull’s that were made were repurposed and made there way into the German panzerJager battalions (tank hunter). The 653rd and 654th panzerjager battalions that were then assembled with the 656th. another unit was swept up in the 656th unit that unit was the 216th of the tank assault battalion that was equipped with 45 sturmpanzer 4 heavy assault tanks. Ferdinand/elephants fought from Kursk to anzio and even to the defense of the fatherland itself.

Oh wow I did not know that, all these years I thought the difference was that P stood for Porsche (even the WT wiki says this) and I always wondered why / how both Porsche and Henschel had somehow designed the exact same hull and used the exact same cannon but only differed slightly on the turret design lol

@@jeffjustleft3360 I mean the Jumbo which was fine where it was before they moved it up, it now has irrelevant armor since it fights the german long 88 and alot of heat rounds subpar gun for its br slower movement and turret speed of the jumbo literally is outclassed by everything in its br. Tell me this game doesn't give the hard succ to german mains than any other nation

They moved it up because tiger 1 and panther idiots whined and cried about it. The jumbo was perfect at 6.0 it has no place at 6.3. Crazy how much difference just .3 higher does. For about 2 years the jumbo suffered because it could even meet leos. After the changes its gotten a little better but still.
Also another note, the jumbo thankfully has the stabilizer which is like the only advantage. However the tiger 2 is pretty stable on its own so its just a slight advantage.
It is crazy because people say it is op at 5.7, and it is very clearly not on the same level as the 6.3 Tiger II, sooooooo they put it at 6.3 instead of keeping it at a nice balance between the two of 6.0 lol

Porsche never build a single turret, all turrets were made by Krupp.
To add to this , why the hell does early jets (1940s built & mostly withdrawn from frontline services by 1960s) face 1960s Radar Guided SPAAG s like Gepards , ZSU-23-4, ZSU-37-2, PGZ09,VEAK 40 almost a 20 year gap between those and the SPAAG s have a huge advantage, and theyare superior. Thats why SPAAG s are jack of all trades. This should be changed. I mean the early jets can't even figureout that they are been locked . This is *Very Realistic* (smile in pain) 😂😢

@@ticken1005 i rarely play CAS, i usually spawn in fighter to kill CAS because i hate it as much as you do, but when im in a shooting position towards a stike fighter or another fighter or a heli, instead of getting the kill, im met with high precision Radar bullets which kills me instantly. And if i try to evade it at closerange ill become slower and you know what happens, but long range ones anybody can evade easily, but its quite annoying to do so

And then even if the enemy team doesn't have any radar SPAA you still get shot at by the damn helicopter bases the split second you get even slightly past the battlefield (sometimes even over the battlefield still)
Yeah this has been a problem for years hopefully with their I want to fix my game so the playerbase doesn’t bomb attitude they will get around to fixing it
Just small changes and adjustments to certain tanks and certain aircraft can lead to nice improvements on the game overall for sure

To answer ur question at the end, Gaijin is basing the BR of every vehicle (except premiums) in the game after the global PLAYER PERFORMANCE.... we told gaijin many times that this is a terrible idea but as always tose ruzzian devs don't give a single fuck about the playerbase unless there is a massive income threat.
stuff like that sucks, but overall tanks take way longer to grind than jets for some reason
People compare jumbo 76 to tiger 2, but i remember when churchill 7 fought first jumbo almost every battle. That was unbalanced. No chances at all.
Yeah the days of the 4.7 BR 75mm Jumbo were... fun for Jumbo players, suffering for non-Jumbo players for sure lol
The turret and reload on the tiger are a bit worse.... tiger also has to dealnwith German team mates..
I feel like you should account for angling. the Sherman Jumbo has 70 MM of side armor, allowing the jumbo to angle to around 40 degrees for optimal protection. so that leaves only the turret cheeks able to be penned by the tiger, and the Sherman can pen the turret face of a tiger and has a stabilizer, so assuming both notice each other and point their guns at the same time, the Sherman can line up and fire a shot before the tigers gun stops bouncing. I will admit the Sherman's gun is underpowered and makes it difficult to kill most tanks, but the armor is adequate for most things, iv even deflected a few close-range 155 mm shots while playing it.
That is fair for sure, this video is more meant for comparing just the fundamental basics of the two tanks (basically, how they stack up in a barebones brute force encounter) If one tank must be played in a smarter manner than the other tank in question in order to be comparable, then maybe it should be just a lil bit lower of a BR to make up for it imo (6.0 would be a fine balance for it to me)
@@BirchNova Well I still think it should be accounted for because both were designed with employing positioning tactics in mind. angling or going "hull down" in combat was used quite often in World War 2, and both need to be played smart, tiger tanks can die to a frontal plate shot from most tanks (including jumbo) if they didn't angle. also, the 76 cannon is adequate for most engagements. and from personal experience, the 76 jumbo can dominate a match if played well, and survive direct shots from most tanks if positioned well. so it does come down to skill. the need to play a tank smart isn't necessarily a bad thing, encouraging players to be more mindful and smart is beneficial in a lot of ways. and I do understand the argument of it being a bit over-tiered. but if I had to dumb it down. for me. It is the issue of it being good enough for its BR, but completely losing its capability and effectiveness if it gets even a slightly uptier match. the KV IB suffers in a similar manner, where its armor is really good at 4.0, but its gun is just cutting it, but at 4.3 you face a lot more guns that can pen you anywhere and targets you can't pen.
Angling can help but the armor behind the tracks is still dogshit so you can't even angle that much.

Tbf I’ve never seen a Sherman when playing a Tiger 2. Maybe my luck with uptiers but I got penned everywhere (with angle)
6.3s and especially 6.7s do get hit very hard by uptiers for sure

The Tiger II P has a long 88 so i’m fairly confident in the accuracy of the simulation in this scenario, but good to know for future reference with other tanks tho (what this video is saying is that the if the Tiger II P is 6.3 then the 76 Jumbo logically should be at like 6.0 as they are by no means equal)
@@BirchNova one you shouldnt, the armour view pen calculator been bugged for the whole live of ground forces, like i dont even think the devs ever updated it for volumetric armour and shells.
and while the tiger 2p CAN pen the front of the jumbo, it isnt always the case. and the jumbo can pen the tiger 2ps turret, something you cant easily cover up.
another is people are forgetting the jumbo 76 was at 5.7 and later 6.0.
and they curbed stomped teams when they were top tier. because at that br only the germans (and maybe the sweds) got anything that can deal with a jumbo outside of swarming the fuckers, dropping a bomb or the driver is dumb and give their side to someone.
Yes it can. Every time you meet a panther you have to angle, if you are head on panthers can go right through. You dont have to angle very much however, 5 degrees at most.
@@Thekilleroftanks Germany at least did get some 5.3, 5.7 and 6.0 tank destroyers that could deal with the Jumbo Shermans, other countries in the same BR range were often not as fortunate (I still believe that the 76 Jumbo is not directly on par with the Tiger II P even if it was somewhat op at 5.7 tho)
Um that's incorrect I got killed 3 times yesterday to a panther hitting the upper front plate on my jumbo 75mm. tbf if the jumbo angles they can't but flat on it goes right through.

At 6.7 rank , you get way more better than jumbo. These tanks are good at their rank and decent for 7.7 rank. Jumbo is already miserable at 6.3. Let alone fight in 7.3 .

It is actually incredible just how poorly some German teams perform at times, despite their tanks being quite powerful and quite competitive

while i see what you are sayin, u forgot the low speed stabylizers on the shermans which allowed me to kill these big slow german tanks a million times in close quarters. u then have a 50cal, which the germans dont and we all know how good that thing is. the same br on the 2 vehicles surely makes no sense, but i feel like this analysis also kinda not making much sense. mentioning their performance at a fulluptier would prove your point in my opinion.
That is a fair assessment for sure, although I would still rather see the 76 Jumbo at 6.0, but if I ever do another one of these kinda videos I will go a lil more in-depth with it if I can (although this video was just meant to be a quick memey vid comparing their armor schemes and cannon capabilities and not a review tho so it certainly ain't a perfect comparison lol)

Consider this, regular jumbo is on the same br that tiger one and dealing with it specially on longer ranges is pain in the ass. Ever tried to hit mg port from distance? Good luck. It balances out only because jumbo needs to hit tigers weak spots to kill it ass well. Now put this mf on 5.7, now that's a joke, you will have situation completely reversed and even worse because jumbo has insanely smaller weak spots compared to tiger II P, and even if you will put it on 6.0 there still will be complains because bad jagdpanther can kill it and has armour. If you wanna see real problem compare IS 6 to other heavy tanks or super Pershing to other heavy tanks on it's br, WT isn't 1 v 1 tank match game, there are other factors that determine tanks. Tiger II is bigger target, it's mg can't kill planes, and one thing that you didn't consider. When tiger II P wold get down tiered you will have whole front of the turret to shoot at, when this thing will get down tiered it will just kill everything in it's path no issue, only things capable of dealing with this would be waffentragers and things with heat's like Pt
That’s all quite fair tbh, although with how much more significantly the firepower of a long 88 is I still think the 76 Jumbo should be at 6.0 by comparison (what I should have mentioned as well is that in a full 7.3 uptier that 76mm cannon becomes a whole lot less useful against things like Is-6’s. But I didn’t really think it through enough to be analytically critical of the two, I just wanted to make a short memey video about their armor and cannons tbh)

@@DyskTwardy honestly, if that were the case, I don't mind if they do another artificial nerf by adding new weakspot for the Jumbo on its mantlet just like the Panther and move it to 6.0. That way, makes more sense rather than being a 6.3 tank that aren't even comparable to Tiger II (P) and IS-2 (1944)

Honestly the 76 jumbo should be moved to 5.7

It was great fun at 5.7 back in the day, but it should be at least 6.0 again to maintain the balance between being very powerful for 5.7 and being a little underwhelming for 6.3 (even the US gets more powerful heavy tanks at 6.3)
