I own multiple Citizen and love them, I think they are still a bit under rated. They have a huge catalog with tons of styles, materials and tech to fulfill just about anyones needs, and like you said, without the rampant QC issues. I have a 15+yo Promaster Eco-Drive that I have beaten half to death, its never been serviced and it is still going strong. In my opinion, for the money the overall quality and value for dollar you get with Citizen cannot be beat.
Yeah but they aren't really cool lookin and they really don't have any "technological innovation" Seiko puts the entire Swiss market on its toes by itself. That said Citizen does make a solid watch and alot of Kool designs. Glad they finally started making auto's again. The pro Diver is pretty freakin sweet!! I even have some vintage citizen. Far as QC I have almost 40 Seiko and not one is less than perfect. I take that back I got a SNKM97 first one was perfect and beautiful but I found it for $100 less so I sold the first one bought the new one and the new one was NOT RIGHT or anywhere close so I returned it and abandoned that model outside of that I have vintage Seiko I have new Seiko I have Seiko in the last 5 and 10 years and I don't have a single Watch that's off by a half a second mark all my bezels match all my indices match everything from every watch is perfect now they could make better bracelets my samurai probably has the best bracelet and the new GMT
@@dtroutmann Ok we get it you are a Seiko fanboy. Enjoy them. I have some Seikos but their prices are absurd compared to Citizen’s bang for buck. Also their designs are 1000% more innovative than Seiko. Plus their bezels line up. The Moster and Tuna were the last interesting designs from Seiko 😢
I owned a few Citizens and I agree with you their quality is better than SEIKO. With SEIKO prices creeping up in recent years, it makes Citizen watches great value proposition.
I absolutely love this watch it kicks ass! I bought the blue, with a blue strap and it is just fantastic! citizen is the best Japanese dive watch you can buy. not taking anything away from Seiko but they don't do it like this. when it comes to water watches citizen is always my choice and that also goes with the Swiss made ones. citizen is the Japanese King of dive watches, can do the same if not better for less money, and I can afford any watch that money can buy but I choose citizen for dive watches. not only do they deliver in real dive time, but they also deliver in some of the best looking watches on the market! if you have checked them out please do you will not be disappointed!
you nail it. as a longtime FORMER seiko fan, i would never get another. for about 8 years just about every seiko i got had one or more major QC issues, and these were watches going up to the $1000 range. i did get one citizen with a misaligned bezel pip (diver) and the seconds hand not hitting the markers right on (yours here does), but i returned it and later purchased another from a U.S. dealer where i could return it if need be, but it was right on the money. so i've had half a dozen citizen divers with only 1 of them having QC issues, and about a dozen seikos over 8 years where just about every one had multiple QC issues. i'm done with seiko, and am looking for new citizen divers to get. when the Orca comes out with duratect or superhard titanium, i will get it. i have a promaster supertitanium eco diver and the same with satellite control. they are both awesome.
I only have a few Citizen watches, but I recently picked up a Promaster Aqualand titanium for a great price and in LOVE with it! Thanks for the great content!👍
Thanks for the review! I love the look of the Citizen Orca watches, and the BN0230-04E with orange accents is on my short list. However, I want to see it in person to be sure it isn't too big for my wrist and the strap doesn't have too much overhang. There aren't many strap options for this beast. I have the Citizen Promaster BN0151-09L, and it is one of my favorites after replacing the strap.
Mineral crystal is better for diving due to uts robustness, it can scratch easier than sapphire, but won't shatter like sapphire under water if hitting a rock for example.
i have just recently purchased a citizen orca(black) and whilst i love it i dont know where the low charge indicator is and it is starting to annoy me as no one else seems to know either , could anybody help me with this
LOL he said “DLC coating, I mean PVD coating…” NERD! 🤣 lol I only know because it takes one to know one brotha. Great vid, great watch. I think i’ll just go for a Promaster collection because I just wear the hell out of them (GMT in orange is my go to).
I bought this Version of the watch and when opening I have to say I didn’t get that nice presentation feel. It almost felt like they were presenting the flashlight and not the watch. It’s kind of snugged on the end with the light taking center stage😂
I’ve been waiting for Seiko to do an orca inspired dive watch…and after watching this video… I’m still waiting for Seiko to make an orca inspired dive watch QC issues or not, I love citizen and I own many of they’re divers but that watch is UGLY! awesome lume, the orca on the case back looks amazing but I’m gonna stay in the water because I can’t get on board with that monstrosity 14.6mm case thickness on a watch with a quartz movement!?😒
Mineral crystal is preferred for real dive watches because of its superior impact resistance. Not scratch resistance; impact resistance. You need it to survive an impact, not shatter as sapphire is more prone to doing.
why then the professional dive watches from Citizen and other brands have actually sapphire? harder to break a saphire crystal than to scratch a mineral glass. The Promaster 1000M Professional Diver for saturation diving has sapphire crystal,
You have to learn how use calipers man. You measure at the end of them, not halfway up. That's why you're miking the crown at 5.8 when it's actually 6mm.
Looks like it's trying to be a "Monster" kinda weak, different case and a bracelet might do ghost one some good. Or change lug design so it doesn't need a integrated rubber strap. Kinda makes it look cheap honestly.
Just picked up the regular black version and it’s the ugliest watch I’ve ever loved. ❤️
You obviously need to add a casio dw290 to your collection 🤣
@@simonwright6882 Dude, that has been in the cart for months! 😆
😂😂
This is not ugly at all... Ugly is rolex for me... Orca is legend

I used to do lots of diving and the Citizen pro Master was the "go to" watch while diving.. This seems like a true dive tool watch.. Love it..
I love this watch,it's mine from 2009 full Titanium version and still working today.I Pais € 205,00.Best buy.Congratulations!
Yup, love Citizen quality for price. Stoked on my Citizen Ti 200m diver, and Ti Tsuno’s. Eco drive is accurate and so easy.

I just got one in blue
Best bang for the buck
Great workhorse
i do appreciate the double color lume. really helps when the minute marker is over an lumed part of the dial.

Probably the most underrated Watch brand!

I have the blue version standard Ed. …it’s a great everyday go to watch..mineral crystal
I only have a few Citizen watches, but I recently picked up a Promaster Aqualand titanium for a great price and in LOVE with it! Thanks for the great content!👍
I bought my first a while ago and was very impressed with the quality of the finishing. They are surprisingly good value for money.
Citizen owns the retro-funky diver aesthetic.
Great watch 👍 if you look at the black part of the dial it looks like a water drop splash 👌
I know you can’t hear when I talk to the screen. I said, nice Heuer….congrats on that. Also, nice citizen.
Great review. I personally have many Citizen watches. They are awesome!

I'd get this one if my wrist was larger. Having several Citizen eco-drives, Citizen QC, lume, and solar technology is better than Seiko.
Wearing an automatic JDM Citizen watch whilst watching this - so much better than similar priced Seiko's.
Thanks for sharing Chris.
Citizen makes a real quality watch ⌚️
They are putting seiko to shame
Man ,Citizen missed the marked by not luming the bezel. This watch calls for it.
Had a vague eye out for the vintage one, this might be a better option
Very attractive and unique design, you tempted me, great review 👍
Citizen building great Watches
Pretty wild hour markers.
It’s funny you say this about QC issues. I just received my Citizen Fugu and guess what? It has a misaligned chapter ring 😢
Could someone tell me where to buy the (extra) rubber strap? Article number? Thank You!
I would like to know that too...and also the metal bracelet....😊
Hi! I bought it last summer from a local seller, but it came from Japan! Got to wait 3 months!
Mineral crystal is better for diving due to uts robustness, it can scratch easier than sapphire, but won't shatter like sapphire under water if hitting a rock for example.
Anyone know how to change the battery on the flashlight?
Thanks for the comment
Watch is nice, the case will make a nice portable cigar humidor.
A lot of the promaster divers do not appear to be discounted. I don't think it's all watches, but some yes.
Normal scuba divers *do not* use oxygen tanks. They use *air tanks*
i have just recently purchased a citizen orca(black) and whilst i love it i dont know where the low charge indicator is and it is starting to annoy me as no one else seems to know either , could anybody help me with this
Seiko has raised their prices and lowered their quality They are not listening to their customers either. The whole world is aware of their QC issues
LOL he said “DLC coating, I mean PVD coating…”

Will they have a titanium one ? I’m not sure if I should wait or get this one. Afraid they’ll get sold out soon.
Great value for $199
Looks like PVD coating is already scratching off on that crown shot?
In the orca theme, I think this should be the regular version, and the others as LE.makes more sense like this imho
Are you running any auctions soon, please Chris?
Yes this Sunday!
@@WatchChris I shall hold off buying a watch I had my eye on then, so I can pay a premium for one that has graced the famous 7.5's 👍.
@@arsonfireuk lol see you there
.other than beat up and broken ..someone please explain why the packaging is important?
once I had the titanium watch... SS not for me anymore!

It comes with a flashlight

But I won't use it

A watch called the Orca sounds so dumb.
Yet this watch looks so cool.

I think Citizen missed an opportunity with this one. Should have used sapphire and an automatic movement, specially considering the thickness.
Not at all. There are people who dislike mechanical watches due to the accuracy and maintenance reasons and eco-drive is a fantastic choice
No. Citizen already produce automatic divers and sapphire crystal just pushes up the price needlessly.
how much for this orca and is it a limited edition ?
I wouldn't mind having a Citizen, especially with Eco-Drive. But, like Rolex, nothing in the Citizen line-up really grabs my attention.
You're not looking hard enough bro!

...if i can't read the time anymore (because of this bloby indizes), the watch is fairly useless...
Why would the box be waterproofed ? lol
No flashlight review? I feel cheated.

..strap is the one and only issue here
.too long if your not wearing a wetsuit. they need a length for posers..rather than divers.
eco drive ugh.......
Wow! That is one butt ugly watch.
