Sorry but I really don’t see much to do with Irish step dancing steps in these performances. The routines are strange to say the least and far too much high kicking. Not keen on the tip toe steps and hope the traditional styles come back before our national dance becomes too disintegrated in favour of these very odd presentations ....
Irish dancing evolves. As the standards of irish dancing improves, clicks and kicks etc are getting higher. Not to mention with competitive irish dancing especially, teachers are putting a lot of pressure on dancers to do different things to get them noticed on stage etc. toe stands can be seen in irish dancing from the early-mid 90’s. but you still see a lot of traditional steps in there like drums and rocks, as well as cross-keys which seem to be coming back into ‘fashion’.
Nice dances!
