Numerous initiatives, which we either support or have initiated ourselves, make Hansgrohe one of the most sustainable companies in the global sanitation industry. This commitment has earned us numerous awards. We are particularly proud of The German Sustainability Award 2024 in the “Energy, Water and Sanitary Technology” category, as well as the German Federal Government’s Ecodesign Award 2023 for our Pulsify Planet Edition hand shower.
And as is customary at hansgrohe, we back our words with actions. We have set a very concrete goal, which we intend to achieve in clearly defined steps: By 2030 Hansgrohe’s ambition is to equip all water-bearing products with water- and energy-saving technologies. This commitment unequivocally aligns the company with the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Agreement.
For this we have identified three very specific sustainability areas that we are actively working on.
Water cycles
We conserve water cycles by ensuring that hansgrohe products use less water while maintaining a great shower experience. With technological solutions like EcoSmart and EcoSmart+, for example, we can already demonstrate a reduction in water consumption of up to 60% compared to hansgrohe showers without EcoSmart technology.
Climate
By using our water-saving products, we also reduce the energy consumption of sanitary facilities, thus contributing to climate conservation. Additionally, we incorporate the intuitive energy-saving technology CoolStart in our faucets: Only cold-water flows when the handle is in middle position, which significantly lowers energy consumption in kitchens and bathrooms.
Circular economy
Not only are hansgrohe products robust, durable, and repairable, helping to conserve resources and save energy, but we also prioritize the use of recyclable materials. With the recent introduction of the hansgrohe PlanetEdition product line, we have brought to market a range that already consists of approximately 30% recycled material.
