    The words are-
"When the cold of Winter comes,
    Starless night will cover day,
In the veiling of the sun,
We will walk in bitter rain.
But in Dreams,I can hear your name,(And in dreams)
And in Dreams we will meet again.
When the seas and mountains fall,
And we come to end of days,
In the dark I hear you call
    Calling me there,
    I will go there
    And back again.

So grateful to my Father in Heaven for ears to hear beautiful music like this. Grateful for eyes to see the graceful sign language version sung by this beautiful childrens choir. May we all be more thankful for the things we take for granted each day and may we treat each other more gently as Christ did.

"But in Dreams,we will meet again."
It's such a beautiful song. Signing can't do it justice, you need the tune, the breathtaking tune.
At first look it doesn't make any sence, even in the movie, but after thinking it though,it makes perfect sence. It's an elf singing for a dead mortal. They will never meet again, save In Dreams, until the end of the world.
It's a perfect tribute. And I want to cry every time I hear it(Unless it's in the "Concerning Hobbits" setting, then I want to dance...)

I attended this Music and the Spoken Word in April of 2006 and it was truly amazing! I was with a group from our local college in Washington State and I was the only LDS person in the group and it certainly touched the hearts of many. The child, Ryan Tani, was absolutely amazing. He brought me to tears, especially with the "signers" behind him. Thank you for posting this. It has evoked wonderful feelings from actually being there to witness this beautiful performance!

I haven't read the comments here for a long time, but having just done so, it seems important to make a few comments. There seems to be much confusion about my song being religious or secular based. Let me clarify. The song is a "prayer" in the most human sense, devoid of dogma and -ology. The message was meant to be universal. I wouldn't want people to miss the message of the lyrics because it didn't match their particular creed. (This is why I have substitute words in the sheet music.)

Who said that crying when you watch a movie and/or listen to a song is stupid and shows you'r weak, was a fool. I do it all the time because it makes me feel that I can have all the emotions and feelings in the world piled up together in a strange sensation, sadness and happiness all together at once.

I just had to add. I remember seeing this on the New Year's Eve Broadcast, and I was shocked when they announced it because it was so...not like the MoTab, but it is GORGEOUS, and chills me everytime I hear it. The men's acappella at my high school sang "Prayer of the Children" for the MLK assembly, right before the African service teams spoke, and it was so touching because of the song and the placement. Had highschoolers in tears.

It was in the movie,in the credits right after "May it Be",the part that few people watch. And on most movies, there really isn't much reason to stay/keep the DVD going after the main credit song, but in all of the Lord of the Rings,it's very much worth staying, the music's awesome.

im not religious at all, nor do i have any philosophy beyond nihilism and im very devout to that idea. This is an exquisite LIVE version. I have heard many groups do this song. My compliments to Kurt Bestor. This is great! I used to listen to "Music & the Spoken Word" every Sunday, until Craig Jessop left. He made the choir into such a marvelous instrument vocally. His sense of line and tone were wonderful! I heard the later performance of "In Dreams" when the boy soprano was slightly older. While technically better ( and he did not sway) the loss of the "choir" signing was rather profound.

While it may be impossible to reach EVERYONE w/ a message of love, hope, and an empathy for all children, it was, at least, my goal. I didn't want just Christians or humanists or [name your philosophy] to claim the song. Since I wrote the song in Utah, I often sing the first two "B sections" using "Crying softly, help me" and then the final one "Crying Jesus..." But, I have more than a few times surveyed the audience and realized that I had Muslims, Jews, etc. and decided to avoid it.

You are amazing. I sang "Prayer of The Children" in high school with the SATB version and I love every second of the song.
