I love your videos. I'm a retired driver, drove truck for 33 years. Short line and long haul with over 2 million miles over the road. A lot of that was sleeper team driving. If I can bring one thing to your attention and that of the audience, it would be the use of the jake brake. In a sleeper team operation, excessive use of the jake brake could not only wake up a sleeping partner, but was not very effective when used on level ground. It was more of a noise maker than it was an actual braking tool. The Jake brake's main purpose was to save brake heat buildup when descending long downgrades. Other than a realistic trailer hookup where you would connect the fifth wheel, the glad hands, and roll up the landing gear with a walk around tire & light check as part of the pre-trip: American truck simulator realistically reminds me of what it was like to drive in the northwest. Keep those videos coming.
Finally someone who knows the difference between Vancouver Wa and Vancouver Canada! Thank you Jeff! I grew up in Vancouver Wa and moved to Pennsylvania and I had to tell EVERYONE Washington not Canada.
Doing great Jeff, just pick up my load in Golden, CO 36,833lbs of Coors beer, headed for NV. Great video as always Jeff, always look forward to Mondays
I know it's a simulator game, but the true way from Vancouver to Klamath Falls (or K-Falls as we cal it here) is to take the turn off at The Dalles and take Hwy 97 all the way down. The road from Medford to K-Falls is a nightmare in real life.
I love manual trucks but when it comes time to where you need to get somewhere faster automatic is the way to go. When we are during harvest season we drive automatic and it makes it so much easier to transport the grain to where it needs to be.
15:11 The only thing missing is inserting CB rambo audio (censored for youtube of course) once and a while in heavy traffic before turning it off again. Then the immersion would be complete. lol ~Retired OTR Driver
Don't get me wrong, we recycle more than we throw away, but that's one of those golden gems of a company that get free product and make huge dollars with it (like Goodwill). The 90s PC Gaming flashbacks are coming in strong! Voodoo graphics cards, PC Accelerator magazine (for you youngin's, it was the Maxim of gaming mags), and Thrustmaster was more known for their uber-priced military clone flight sticks that I couldn't ever afford but would go play with the demo model on the shelf every chance I got.
Gotta say it was a little weird gawking at all the downtown Portland scenery, then as soon as you got past the Marquam bridge and the I-405 merge where the Terwiliger curves should be, the game is like BAM, Salem!
My honest opinion of VR as it stands right now is that how fun it is depends on the game you're playing. Like this game or any other game where you're driving/piloting a vehicle it definitely adds to the experience, but there are other games where it doesn't really immerse you any further.
@@jfavignano Have you used VR in multiple genres of games? I'm sure the technology in itself is great, but how it actually affects gameplay experience is the area of concern. For example: Tekken 7 has a VR function, but all that does is allow you to look away from the fighters or look at the fighters from a different angle, for spectacle's sake that's fine but it would actually be a hindrance to gameplay not an improvement. There are also certain puzzle games(Like tetris) that have VR where again, it just lets you look around and away from the puzzle itself. great for spectacle, pointless otherwise. That's why I say it depends on the game you're playing.
Having lived in salem for 40 years some obvious liberties being taken here. Albany is 20 min south, and eugene is an hour south. Its also 3 lanes through salem. They did get the scenery and car drivers right though. Kinda surprised to see the freeway wall and bus barn. Oh and portland traffic is gridlock at 6 am. What am I saying, It's gridlock 24/7.
I've been using VR for about 2 years now, and only one game made me feel ill - ATS. Reversing a rig to hook up a trailer and I had to stop and take the headset off before I spewed lol
Christopher Kennedy our company had ProStars. And started to move to LT’s (we only have 22 trucks, and 19 drivers) They bought 4, all had many problems now we are switching to Peterbilt 579’s.
In real life the best way to get from Vancouver to Klamath falls is to take hwy 26 southeast out of Portland 26 connects to 97 in madras a little north of bend then just ride 97 down to k falls.
When I was in high school the school bus were parked at the Bus Barn when not in use. It was also the repair facility and where they cleaned the buses. I know this because one day our bus was acting up and the driver took use there to get onto another bus.
That is awesome and you really do have to swing wide with the trailer I definitely know how it feels to drive a 53 foot trailer and that was so pretty drive and I really love the LT just wish that SCS will bring it out
As always great video Jeff. By the way, when releases for Open Beta, check out Natural Lux, it's in Open Beta for ETS2 right now, but, it looks super good. I'd really check it out. My friend CascadeOverload on Twitch tests it on both games and it really makes the game look more realistic.
hey jeff! why dont you do a car roadtrip on ats. that would be hella cool. some mustang or an suv ı mean cmon that would be awesome !! love the content
A.S.P. makes the switch boxes for GTA5 (LSPDFR) (I just looked at them). They are a little cheaper compared to ones used for ATS and ETS. However for a long time (I think over a year) they've had a 2 month wait list from the time you order. So my guess is they have a very small staff and build team.
And honestly you can just get a nice NumPad that's USB and use that for ATS or LSPDFR. Especially if you are on a budget like I am. Another cool thing is if you get Waterslide decals (like those found in those plastic car model kits) you can create your own custom icons for that NumPad with an inkjet printer. Just be sure to buy a spray can of clear coat to protect your Waterslide images. Now granted a NumPad won't have the nice ignition with keys but push button ignition is a thing in the real world today. The total cost for this set would be under $40 US.
Hey Jeff never second guess yourself always swing as wide as you can. Just a heads up im a truck driver and well it does take alot to turn a 53' trailer... Keep up the great vids
I finally got to purchase and re install ats from steam now so i can get all the new updates, unfortunately tho ill have to restart everything because my older profile wont work again... great LT by the way
Hey jeff, I've been considering getting a wheel and I have a budget of about $150-200 CAD (About $120-175 USD) Any reccomendations? Thanks, love your vids!
I can say good things about the t150 had mine around 3 years now still going strong. You can also upgrade your pedals to t3pa pedals so for a budget (new) wheel it's pretty decent.
@@timfrancis6774 it's pretty easy honestly, you need a desk to clamp the wheel to then get the wires and plug it into pc PS4 then just configure the software on pc or if ur on Xbox or PS4 it should just work. Look online there's tutorials for everything

Cant imagin how difficult it is to memorize where everything is while having a vr headset on. Ocasionally i have to see where some keys are at and if my keyboard shifted.

Right?? In reality, K-falls is five hours from Eugene, and knowing how nasty Portland traffic is...*(even at six am >,

Weird seeing places I grew up driving now on a video game. It's amazing how close they got it.
Jeff:How's everyone doing?!
Me: terrible as ever
Jeff:that's good to hear I like hearing that
Me: O_O excuse me?!
Great video Jeff keep up the great videos
It's crazy how accurate some of this is. And how far off other stuff is. I live in Klamath falls and drove that highway a bunch.
A cool ad on would be to apply rain x to the windows to help with visibility with the rain.
Pretty accurate how it’s raining in Vancouver
More please Jeff favignano
When i bought american truck sim, i didnt know it was so detailed. Great job by scs! (Just realized that I was 100th comment lol)
Considering that both Vancouvers are 200+ Miles apart.
Crazy how detailed this game is. I live in Salem and was surprised they got the school bus depot off I-5
