Across the Indian and Atlantic Oceans can be found a small country called Guyana on the South American continent where Indian Indentured labourers were brought in to work the British sugar plantations from 1838-1917. Therefore, I'm of Indian origin. My dad would have introduced these songs to us from birth and so we are familiar with these kinds of songs. He had a strict preference for movies and songs from the '40s and '50s only! So, he had this and many other albums in the form of the 33 1/3 rpm LPs and that Philips turntable set. This particular song was one of his favs as he would reminisce and told us stories of the "good old days"(even though the times were hard) of when life was much simpler and all mannerisms were adhered. The cinema was the only form of entertainment and the people cherished those movies so deeply as it was seen as part of their culture even though miles away from the motherland.
These songs stood the test of time...aging like fine red wine.
Today he's not alive and I was going through UA-cam videos of old Hindi vintage songs and accidentally stumbled upon this track. Most naturally I had to play it and so this one's for you dad... for those times when listening to these songs brought happiness and good memories to you as you had often told us!
