Great presentation. I'm glad you mentioned gibbons. It is true that their ribcage more closely resembles our own and I suspect that is because gibbons walk upright. Their arms are too long for either knucklewalking or fistwalking, so they hylobate when they walk,.with their arms held straight out to their sides. In fact, the verb, to hylobate, is derived from hylobates, the name of gibbons' genus. Hylobates means 'forest walker.' Interesting, eh?

Superb lecture. What an exciting field of (evolution) study. Surely I'd like to see more of dr. Ward's research presentations on youtube. At the moment they're quite scarce. Or have I missed some?

That doesn't give us any reason to believe the image itself is generally wrong, so much as the time period imposed on the image is wrong. Just because we had at that time not found them, didn't even remotely imply that earlier ancestors did not exist. In fact we have found more since this talk. But we will always find more if we just keep looking. Regardless, evolution doesn't work in sudden changes like that. We didn't just fall out of the trees and have a curvature in our spines all of a sudden.

The Laetoli footprints give us fabulous insight. Looks to me like very erect Australopithecenes at around 3.5M. Interesting short lecture!

GOD is the sole explanation for that which is not yet known to us. At least it is for the lazy mind.

Gods, magic, miracles, etc. All are words that mean: we don't actually have the answers at this time.

You can make anything up and call it "god." In fact, that's behind every god we've ever invented. Total subjectivism. I recommend reality and method.

@El Jefe : You can lie to yourself and make things up all you like. That doesn't mean anything though, other than you are foolish enough to do so.
