Outstanding video! Your technical expertise married with your straightforward approach is nothing short of splendid! I will be sharing this video with someone whom recently acquired the beta AR from Arc’teryx!
I just got myself a practitioner 21 version as I'm lucky to be in the program. I've also got a delta lt and will probably add a kionite ar later Great video, keep them coming as no one is really doing proper reviews for the intended public: skiers/snowboarders, it's either trendy or trekking or japanese channels ...
This was probably the most informative video on Arc'Teryx jackets. Keep the reviews coming. Do you recommend a Therme insulated jacket or getting a 3 layer system? I was thinking a Beta AR, Atom AR and a Kyanite AR tech wool hoody. You think this is a better combination for Colorado/ Chicago weather?
Currently working on a Part II featuring the Beta AR with Gore Most Rugged. The fit is slightly revised compared compared to the Gore Tex Pro model featured here.
Enjoyed your video . I am not a skier , yet what combos work for around town use ? I have Atom LT jacket , considering a shell and other layers for protection from wet weather .
Depends on where you live. I grew up in NYC, if I were getting something by Arcteryx for around town I'd probably get a Gamma MX for Fall and Spring, and for winter a Therm or Beta Insulated.
Nice demonstration, very informative. When layering are you using all the same size? If you could only buy one for mountaineering, would you go with the beta ar or beta sv? Thank you!
@maxbirch9989 it's close but I recommend the atom lt. You can compensate for the cold with just a slightly thicker base layer under the atom. In 30° and snow I had a SmartWool long sleeve midweight base layer with the Atom LT and beta ar. I was completely content.
Hey I’ve got a question, I am 6ft usually size large in jackets. Should I be going for medium or large in the beta AR? (Won’t be wearing much layers, the jacket will mainly be used for hikes)
Stick with your proper size. Arcteryx bakes in their sizing and fit accommodate a layering system. Though shells will feel a bit sloppy with no layers under, but thats by design.
I just sold my Atom LT in 24k, but I I’m sure I can manage enough pics and footage to make a compelling comparison with the Atom AR. They are very different for sure.
I wish I could say it was something special, but it was purchased off Amazon in a 5 pack bundle for maybe $15. Try this link and the option is Boho Series: www.amazon.com/Toes-Home-Headband-Seamless-Resistence/dp/B07G134ZJ4?ref_=ast_sto_dp&th=1&psc=1
The Atom LT pairs wonderfully with the Beta AR. Since the Atom LT hood and collar aren’t heavily insulted, fit, articulation and overall comfort remain high.
Depends on how cold it gets where you are and how often you’re standing still out in the open. If you live in a place like NYC, it wouldn’t be enough for me personally during winter. If your winters are milder, yes 40F and up, it should be fine with a sweater or hoody.
@@ALTAGEAR I’m in Seattle so lows usually are high 30s to low 40s Fahrenheit. Only time I’m usually out in rain is when I’m at a soccer game but seats are covered so I’m not standing still in rain for hours
Hiking in 30’s is a cake walk for the Atom LT. If it’s not snowing hard you probably won’t need shell either. But I would recommend keeping a light fleece with you as well.
can somebody advice what to add/change if it is veeeery cold skiing and current combination (base layer merino + fortrez hoody + atom lt + beta ar) is not enough for me... THANK YOU A LOT FOR HELP!
@@ALTAGEAR does lg have more space on the hips than a med? Currently purchased a med but considering returning it for a lg due to it being a little snug around the hips
There’s some samples of a revised Proton FL floating around and it’s closer in design to the new Practitioner AR. We should be seeing the new spring and summer collection here soon.
This video is a whole flex.

Glad to see you making vids again. I just discovered you a few weeks ago. You make very detailed reviews, keep it up!
this is exactly the kind of video that I've been looking for, great job!

Appreciate the feedback. Some of us actually use these items outdoors, so it’s good to know this vid helped someone somewhere.

I replaced it with the Seamaster Pro with the white dial. It’s just a much better watch and definitely better looking.
Exact vid I was looking for. Convinced me to get the Beta AR. Arc should be sending you free stuff.

I'd go with the Beta SV for those purposes. It has a drop pocket, is longer and tougher.
All the same size. And Beta SV.
The atom lt might be the perfect fit with 60 grams vs the 80 grams of the proton, I have both so I will have to play around with this
Did you manage to figure if the atom lt fits nicer than the proton fl? Can’t decide which to pare the beta ar with.

excellent review, would like to see your thoughts on Atom AR or Atom LT

Bro, would you recommend the beta ar for town and general use for all sort of things. Honestly I barely do hikings
do you know if i can use the Arc'teryz Atom LT Hoody with the Beta AR and would it still be comfterble around the neck?
I’ve done that pairing. Works great. I wear a size large in Arc’teryx with about a 17” neck.
Yes. I have done that combo many times. Both size large.
I love that mask you have throughout this video, where did you get it man!?
Btw cool review video 🙌

@@ALTAGEAR haha thanks so much!
How about the atom lt hoody jacket what you think of that combination great video...
The Atom LT pairs wonderfully with the Beta AR. Since the Atom LT hood and collar aren’t heavily insulted, fit, articulation and overall comfort remain high.
What do you think about the Atom LT? Thanks the vid!
I think it's a solid jacket. Pretty versatile.
Would you say sizing up in the AR if the hip area is a bit tight? I’m between L and XL. 5,7’ 220
Usually, I’d recommend if someone is between sizes, sizing up makes more sense, especially if the intended use is more technical than casual.
Would the Atom LT be a good every day jacket for fall/ winter ? I plan to wear a hoodie under it

Beta SV and Atom AR good for cold weather hiking? sub 30s or would my Atom LT suffice
Hiking in 30’s is a cake walk for the Atom LT. If it’s not snowing hard you probably won’t need shell either. But I would recommend keeping a light fleece with you as well.
I concur with the above. For moderately strenuous hiking the Atom AR is brutally warm and you’ll probably overheat. The Atom LT is plenty.
wow, great video!
What size were u? And what is your height and weight? My build is similar to yours so I’m not sure a large will fit?
5’11”, 210lbs, athletic build, 42” chest, 33” waist.
Size on you jacket?
@@Caoimhin7-4 Pretty sure he has indicated his size is a Large in either another video or in a comment.
what are your thoughts on the beta ar over a cerium lt?
Cerium SL was my favorite and was a good combo with the Beta AR. I didn’t like the previous Gen Cerium LT as much compared to the SL.
can somebody advice what to add/change if it is veeeery cold skiing and current combination (base layer merino + fortrez hoody + atom lt + beta ar) is not enough for me... THANK YOU A LOT FOR HELP!
Try the Proton LT. You'll be very happy.
How do you like the Naga hoody?
Naga is great. Though I sold the model here for the LEAF 1/2 zip with detached hood. Arcteryx needs a Fortez like jacket in their main lineup.
what size did u get and how tall are you for reference?
5’11, 210lbs, 42” chest, 33 waist, muscular/athletic build. In Arc I wear a large.
@@ALTAGEAR does lg have more space on the hips than a med? Currently purchased a med but considering returning it for a lg due to it being a little snug around the hips
is both your beta ar and atom ar the same size?
Everything shown is a size Large.
Ah yes, arctwizzy(s)
Make that or practitioner AR available to the public.

Looks like the beta is terrible for layering whit hoodys, probably better stick to hoodless pieces whit the beta.
I tried the kyanite ar. And it is waarrrmm.
I'm working on a Kyanite AR vid now. It is impressively warm. The revised fit is great too.
Does arcteryx make underwear and socks? Condoms?
I wish…
Have you had any issues with the lack of a powder skirt?
None. The Beta AR is very capable.
@@ALTAGEAR Thanks for the reply. I bought the Beta AR years ago and didn't want to spend another 600+ for the same jacket but with a powder skirt
