From hazel coppice to Bornean jungle. Great piece of craftwork here. I have it in use now for a while and can highly recommend it. Got mine in 80CRV2 steel with stainless steel fittings.
Over the past few years I have had 2 of these Eban Ben Orford Parangs. 1 in 01 tool steel and more recent the other in.80CRV which in my opinion (and thanks to Bens advice) is superior for its hardness! It made short work of my back yard we bought that hadn't been touched for over 40 years and was basically a small forest! I cleared the whole lot with this hand tool in just a few days. Other Parangs/Goloks/machetes just did not match this Parang! I must say this is the BEST chopping tool I have ever used! And I have spent tens of thousands on good tools over the past 12 years! Seriously get one!!! Ben's always so happy to help. I've just ordered the pocket version of this Parang in 80CRV steel which I simply cannot wait to try out and take out the back woods with. It will replace my bushcraft knife/knives as I've never seen anything quite like it (cutting ability wise).... Serious bit of kit for any serious outdoorsman! Thanks Ben! Awesome video and great tools! 👌👌👌👌
Thanks a lot for the comment, great that you have been able to try the O1 and the 80crv2 and see what a hardcore steel it is, looking forward to getting your pocket paring to you soon. many thanks cheers, Ben
Yeah..it's a serious affair when we go into the jungle, the locals here would carry a parang or a golok whenever we go to even a small jungle..anyway..for ur info..a golok was design primarily as a side arm for the locals to carry it all day long in the old days and the parang was design to do all the daily chores that's necessary in those time but both were used in the training of our martial arts(silat), meaning we can use both in self defence if needed be.
Truly a work of art, in every sense, !! Unfortunately, the price tag is beyond my budget, ! I could get several "Condor Bushcraft Parangs," for the price of this ,,, They are, after all , the ultimate "beater" tool,,,
Hi John, thanks for the comment, yes unfortunately a handmade tool made in the uk won't be able to compete cost wise with factory made tools made in Ecuador, but have had lots of folks use this in some extreme parts of the world and still is a hard working tool that will last a lifetime. thanks again and glad you liked the video. cheers, Ben
Good to see you again my friend really nice work as always!!! I still need a crap load of your blades lol. I want a few. The lore and the antler necker.... ATB to you and the family, Merry Christmas
"NOW WITH ADDED AQUA DRAINAGE" I nearly lost my finger with a home made parang last month, tendons healing up nicely, lesson learned, don't hit the Brandy till you have your firewood sorted. These are beutiful.
Sure this was based on a original one from the jungle. We tweaked the design a bit and made it full tang as the handles were always coming off the original. Thanks for the comment
This is our style shape of Iban-Dukuk Chandong (Sarawak Borneo Iban), It's very comfortable to bring along side of your waist with the wooden shead.

Nice parang. By the way, full tang design transmits more vibration to the hands.

Congratulations, great videos.
I would like to know the dimensions of the parang. Thank you
The correct name is "Iban Duku Candong" not "Eban Parang"....the Iban tribe from Sarawak is the original craftman of this machet..
Pure sweetness!

Blimey glad your on the mend now, sure shape tools and tiredness or alcohol are not a good mix, stay safe.

Iban Duku Chandong....origin design from Iban people from Sarawak Borneo...

OMG 430 pounds. For a garden tool made from an old fashioned steel! WOW. Let’s talk about ease of sharpening in the field
What’s the price point on this?
From £415
£425.00???....with this we will defeat Covid 19....
