    I just bought a curl and a wave +. The curl will live in my truck as a basic tool as needed. The wave + is a gift for my dad. And I daily an arc for work. But I only have it on me when at work. So the curl will be a good decent tool when out and about. It has the basics of what I wanted/needed. Now if only the curl didn’t have a pocket clip but the wave did. Make that a better arrangement lol.

    I see the Curl as an advanced level tool. You have to be skilled to get the most out of it. It also requires care due to the fact it doesn't lock. The original PSTII is still my daily, but this could be a great replacement.

    I barely use my very old Leather Wave for wire cutting, mostly computer nerd stuff, but pretty early on I cut some completely normal pliers metal object and made a sizable gash in the cutters and they aren't replacable. I'm not sending them back for that, it just shows the poor quality. I'd rather them have a small cutter they can heat treat properly that I DON'T need to lose every other function for however many weeks it takes to get back. Let me buy a good product and get back to work. I don't have a collection of multitools to be pissed at.
    Same thing with Benchmade. I asked for a free pocket clip and while I did get one it took over 3 weeks shipping and I had forgotten what I even ordered. I'm not losing a knife (940-2 that I now hate) for 3 weeks for the AXIS spring that broke before it lost the factory edge! So I ordered one from amazon and fixed it myself. Again, I'm not a moron, I want my tool because I do tool things. Let ME fix it NOW. And I did. AXIS locks sucks btw, ABLE locks and Hogue in general beat Benchmade on price, quality, appearance, useability, utility, and strength all day. I use my Hogue Deka 10x more than my 940 (cause it sucks) and no problems at all. AXIS springs break, and suck. Hogue > BM fite me irl.

So you can swap other attachments in and out of it with the hot swap levers on it, or just reorganize how the tools are on it. We'll see how it works for me.

    I have an older Leatherman Wave that my uncle gave me from back before they started putting replaceable wire cutters on them. Young me decided to use them to cut a nail for some reason, and now they have a pretty good size dent in them. Never bothered to send them in to get them serviced because it was my own damn fault, but it did make me wish they had replaceable cutters.

    I do like the wingman for light duty putzing around the house and it makes a good daily carry sorta option, especially with the spring loaded handle. But it's truly light to occasionally moderate duty. If they were still around 50 bucks US, they'd still be a great option. I paid about 45 for mine and that's felt like a great tool for the money. For me, I'll take the rebar any day over the Curl, especially being less expensive than the Curl. I also keep finding random uses for the saw and sheepsfoot blade. If the cost was lower, it'd be a great starter leatherman, rather than the Bond that just feels like a less good rebar. But, for a lot of people, having the bit changer and a couple external tools, the Curl is a solid overall option with solid build quality.

      @Phil-S8 10 місяців тому

      @@GibboAus The scissors are not very good, but will go through paper. The pliers are excellent, especially for the size. The knife side of the multitool actually has bronze washers between the tools, so everything moves smoothly. The other side is a little rough, but works well enough. The real appeal of the tool is its size (not too small to be useful, but not so big that it's a burden to carry), and it sits well in the pocket.
      The only other multitool that I know of in this size range is the Roxon M2 - which I did consider buying, but ultimately the SOG is better and only 10 dollars more on Amazon currently

    I do agree that over time the mini driver receives little to no use on my Charge, I'd rather have a chunky awl for scraping and prying. I mean, I carry a little eyeglass screwdriver kit in my office backpack anyways, and I'd much rather use that lightweight thing instead of the Charge in fear of putting too much torque on a tiny screw. You have to admit though, those aluminum scales on the Charge feel nice compared to the standard steel.

      @@mariusengelsen7194 I constantly cut open packages and pallets at work so I much prefer an outside blade over the Rebar layout, otherwise I may agree with you. I would also agree with the skeletool as a good carry if you're out hiking etc but it doesn't quite have enough functions for my work EDC. The Wave has a few tools that would never see use as well so cut that weight in the work pockets. 10 hr stretches on concrete floors mean the weight won't be missed.

  • @ribstein7714
    @ribstein7714 10 місяців тому +1

    Never understood why this got such a lukewarm reception from so many people. It tosses the saw and serrated blade in favour of a sizable size and weight decrease. With how often I've heard people call the serrated blade a wasted tool slot since it's very rarely used by many: this would seem pretty enticing I would have thought. Yes you do lose the saw which is why I personally still prefer the charge and wave series over it but you do gain a lot of pocket ability with that loss.
    The awl over the micro screwdriver is something I personally prefer on the curl and something I would think most people would also prefer. Even as a glasses wearer, I almost never need to tighten such tiny screws so the only use I get out of the micro screwdriver is as a proding tool and as a very small pry bar (I don't recommend that btw, I have broken one or two of them while using it like that) whereas I often have use for an awl (it's like half the reason I have a victorinox pioneer x close at hand).
    The only reason I can kinda understand the reception for the curl is the non locking tools which is understandable

      @@ribstein7714 I know you're not. And I get why most don't find it useful. I'm a delivery driver and I have to repackage and tape a few box's together every day.
