I love the idea of you keeping your businesses in the garage. If anyone can do it, it will be you and Roger. I am excited for your next journey in life.
Appreciating your sharing the process as you prepare to move. I felt for you, wanting to pick things up, and resisting! Living vicariously through you as you move to Florida. Fun video.
Good luck with all the big bugs in Florida. Also the heat is really hard on wood items. I'm happy for you both. Embarking on the next chapter of your lives together ❤️.
I can't believe that you put the sewing box back. Lol. Also the little note/photo holder. I was surprised that you didn't pick that up. Those sell quickly.
@lavenderclothesline I've loved your thrifting videos from the beginning and faithfully watch them every week. This one seemed to have an abundant amount of different kinds of things that you expounded upon... Love that you have such a strong and wide-ranging knowledge base. I thrive on the learning process, and greatly appreciate you sharing what you know with us. We so look forward to yours and Roger's Florida adventure!
Had to look up the Berman candle holders. I found it on Google Lens a few. They are Vintage 1940s Berman Chinese Figural Candle Holders. For just one $50 listed marked down 75% off from $200. Someone made a lamp out of just one, selling for over $200. Probably an older couple that passed away and family donated. Isn't that how most of the stuff we find that is older ends up at Goodwill. Hope this helps with those most interesting candle sticks.
All those small statues of composers I would have loved. They were given to piano students as awards after a recital, I believe. My sister got some but she was an amazing pianist. Me, not so much.
Karen, Thrifting for FUN has unleashed your imaginative narration!! (That fancy sister had it coming!☺Lol!) I always look forward to your videos & have learned so much from you! Glad that you will be a fellow Floridian with me!! Take all that goodness in that you have in PA cause our thrift stores are nowhere near what you have. I’m sure you will miss your old hunting grounds. You may have to drive back home to PA to stock up on goods. Welcome to Florida you won’t be sorry for the move. Summer is Hot Hot Hot but you can jump in the ocean which will be Hot Hot Hot! Good luck on your move!!😊

Hi Karen-We are "pairing down" as well. Our new home will be about 1300 square feet and we are planning on using our garage for my husband's wood working shop and storage. The mini split HVAC systems work great in these spaces. I will check out consignment shops in the new area for some of my nicer items. Big changes in store for both of us! I will be following your progress.
I’m feeling a bit sad, you’ve introduced all of us to Root’s and it’s one of my favorite places to watch you shop. I was so inspired by it we planned a trip to visit this summer. Other the other hand I am excited about all the new adventures you and Roger will encounter. I follow this cute young couple’s channel called “Florida Pickers.” They live and thrift in Florida and one of the best things I see is when they go to rummage sales or church bizzarres. Miles and miles of treasures to comb through, so I know you guys will love that ❤
Those Lilly Pulitzer mugs were in a FabFitFun box a few years ago! I have 2 sitting on my counter right now that I’m preparing to donate to our local thrift store.
Oh I have a Public announcement for resellers! Lol I was at a little local thrift store and found Royal Doulton Carlyle. I found a coffee pot and covered vegetable dish $2.50 each! In perfect condition! I have the coffee pot listed for $148.50 and the dish $112.50. Then I found which are extremely rare the matching napkin rings, also bone China for .50 each. There were no comps and 1 replacement listed for $112! Crazy! I listed all of mine for $120 but I was stupid and accepted a low ball offer! I should have countered. Live and learn but $3 into $65 is still great but it could have been more! 🤦🏻♀️ I’m so mad at myself! Anyway, keep a look out for that RD print Carlyle…it’s worth a lot! To add to this, I heard it was the one Lady Di chose. 💕
Karen has good taste! Calico Creek is my favorite store. Since I live 4 hours away in NY, my visits to the area are few and far between. Thanks to my gracious friends who invited me to go on a family vacation with them, I was there in December. The store was just as appealing as ever. For those of you who haven't visited, please do so if you get the opportunity as you won't be disappointed. Such a beautiful selection of home goods and.the relaxing music and scent of quality candles enhance the shopping experience. Best of everything to you, Karen and Roger, as you begin a new and exciting chapter in your lives!
Why does Goodwill put their stickers right on the top of a fine wooden sewing box? I hope the sticker doesn't damage it. The last two items I purchased were damaged by their stickers. I cannot imagine you and Roger ever retiring and not doing much. I'm still working at 74 part-time and trying to resell on a very small scale. There's too much competition now in the reselling business where I live.
I saved 8 Toile du Jouy curtains from my thrift store dumpster, and I sold them all, hurrah for me! Win-win, for both the environment and my pocket! Ps: you mentioned improper grammar: “if I were listing it” rather than “if I was listing”.
Don't even get me started on the grammatical errors I see and hear across the board on reseller channels. OMG!! The spelling, grammar and sentence structure I see in comment sections are cringeworthy. Compound words are nonexistent and adverbs have morphed into adjectives. Anyway, subject for a different forum.
I was told once that ginkgos are the only trees that were on the earth when the dinosaurs roamed here that are still left here. I collect all things ginkgo!
On that basket, it looks like a turtle I just picked up made of pine needles and raffia. There’s a tribe in Louisiana, starts with a C, ugh I’d have to look, I think it’s Caushatta or something like that and they make these beautiful baskets and have value. A tiny turtle is worth $20 and I only paid .50 cents for him. Woot woot! Lol
Maybe down the road, in your real retirement, you might put some of those stories “in your head” on paper. Yes, I can see you having another career in addition to selling belts ❤
You mentioned how nice the employees at Calico are. I was there two days after this past XMAS, MOST OF THE Xmas items were 49% off. I end up spending over $240.00. When I got to the register, they start punching all my items. I had a lot Xmas decorations, balls, etc. one of the balls had hunter green velvet ribbon tied in a bow. The young cashier told me if I want the bow, it will cost $1.50. I told her , I don’t need to. The lady behind me. Told me when we both walked out the store. She said she couldn’t believe that they were going to charge me for 10” ribbon, after I spend over $250.00. I should have said something to her. Anyway this is a poor customer relationship. I don’t thing I would go out of my to give them anymore business.
The house you purchased in Florida? You aren't purchasing it together with Roger? Hahaha. I'm just playing with you girly. I can't believe people actually say stuff like that to you when you talk. It sold 😁

Are there a lot of goodwills where you are moving to?
Yes, especially because we are always willing to travel
Would have taken only the smaller wood hanger, left big one regardless of condition. Too big for smaller homes.
