    Fantastic. Thank you Mark ! I had the cylinder refiled by a proficient blender and it was magnificent to see the calculations, the pure O2 filling , the gentle rolling and finally normal air. At the end the tester showed a spot on 32.0% mix. Decided to stay at 32 btw

    Ha fun to see you use the same calc, i dont know how i stumbled on top of it years ago but has been my go to. Its accurate aswell.

    What’s the best strategy for keeping warm on the boat between dives. Wetsuit on, or off? About 1 hour surface interval as we move sites. Approx 14° water temp, 8° air temp.

      A warm hat is essential. A lot of divers are using ponchos to throw over yourself to protect you from the wind.
      Whether to stay in your wetsuit is a personal choice and depends on facilities available. I tend to get out of a wetsuit so that I can get dry and warm. Putting it on for dive #2 will suck but, if you have access to warm water that can warm the inside of your suit before you put it on

    #askmark should i rinse out the inside of my BCD after using it in salt water? And if so, how?

    • @ScubaDiverMagazine
      @ScubaDiverMagazine  6 місяців тому +1

      Yes, the inside of your BCD is a sealed plastic bag and small amounts of sea water always finds it's way inside so you need to kill any nasties.
      Hold down the purge button on your inflator and pour some warm soapy water in through the oral inflation hole.
      Give it a good slosh around inside your BCD and then drain it completely before inflating your BCD a little so the insides aren't touching themselves

    Hey Mark!
    You forgot to tell everyone to give the cylinder a good shake so the oxygen gets fully mixed in with the air 😁

    You forgot the word for air. Mark.... Did you skip a deco stop and do we need to talk to a medic for the decotank #worriedaboutyou.🤔😛🤙

    Hy, thank you very much for your great videos. I would be interested in your opinion or advice regarding my future diving career:
    I would like to focus on cave diving or wreck diving in the long term and am considering learning either sidemount or rebreather for this. What would be your advice as to which path is the right one?
    About my background: I mostly dive in German lakes and occasionally on vacation.
    All the best to you and please keep making great videos

    hi Mark
    Which nitrox calculator App would you recommend?
    Best wishes

      Gas blender toolkit. Allows not just nitrox but trimix too. If working in a shop can add cost per bar and it works out the cost to fill the cylinder in addition to the top up gases. Paid for app, something like £1.50 when I got it.

    • @ScubaDiverMagazine
      @ScubaDiverMagazine  6 місяців тому +1

      It's £2.59 now on Android, I blame inflation...
      They're all fairly similar. The free ones have ads but, £2.59 is hardly breaking the bank.

    #AskMark What are some things you wish you wish you found out before you started diving?

    • @ScubaDiverMagazine
      @ScubaDiverMagazine  6 місяців тому +1

      Never promise anything.
      A qualification doesn't make somebody a good diver.
      It doesn't really matter if you breathe your gas faster than your buddy.
      Never keep a question to yourself.
      You'll need more space to store your dive gear than you think.

    Haven't watched yet but the answer is no. You just use a formula to blend to to where you want.

  • @tiagor3272
    @tiagor3272 6 місяців тому

    No!!! Just top it to what you want, if changing to air, just dive a mild nitrox

      Bad advice! Danger

    • @rednissan001
      @rednissan001 6 місяців тому +1

      Danger? As long as you dive within the mod for the gas what’s the issue? If you’re filling it your only going to fill the same mix or more

    • @the.mr.beacher
      @the.mr.beacher 6 місяців тому

      He specifically says air, so less oxygen. Then says to dive with mild nitrox setting (implying guessing). Meaning worst case you under estimate and are subject to oxygen toxicity if you dive too deep on it and slightly better case you over estimate and end up becoming saturated before your computer thinks and end up with DCS.
      So, yeah... DANGER!

      Think you’re reading into his comment way too much. He said no as in no you you don’t have to ditch it that’s true and like he said if you want to swap it for air just top up with 21% and dive to the mix in your cylinder that would be a mild Nitrox mix. Obviously any sensible nitrox diver would have analysed his cylinder before the dive as you should then like I said adjust your mod to suit the mix.
