I imagine anyone who searched for a video on RVing, expecting to see guys hanging out under a camper awning drinking beers, was shocked to see Tristan hanging off of a cliff! ;-) This video had awesome vistas, engaging story telling, plus loads of information on the area (and throw in some climbing techniques for good measure) . Great stuff!

Hi Tristan, have been watching quite a few of your video's, as a new subscriber, just awesome, thanks so for the amazing views and education into safe climbing, I did some climbing in Scotland when I was younger, mostly on the Black cuillins on Skye, I think you would be in heaven there!!! Many thanks again, can't wait for the next ones, All the Best Colin uk.

Awesome! This is the first mountain I attempted to climb without any experience. I used to canoe camp, often, at Taylor Lake along the Colorado River. This mountain has a draw effect to it when one is in this landscape. This is early '70's and there were no ladders or bridges up there. I didn't make it to the top, but got a quick lesson in climbing - its always easier going up than it is climbing back down. I got to a place where I realized it might be a little dangerous going back down. I thought I might need a helicopter rescue or I could attempt getting back down. I realized I would need to be unencumbered, in any way, to make it back down from where I was, so I tossed my backpack and water over the side (never to be found) to free me up as much as possible. I made it, but your warnings to the inexperienced is not to be taken lightly! I later worked at Yosemite and gained the skills needed for such attempts, so it was a pleasure to watch you do the right things to stay safe and enjoy the climb.

I worked as a roofer and did a lot of "urban climbing' on slate roofs and steeples around the city of st. louis about fifty years ago so the heights don't really get me, but I was always worried about your free climbing in past videos. This one reassured me and I was happy to see your being sensible for once. I actually ran into a roof where I made the company owner purchase a harness and a hundred feet of rope for me to wear while on it since it was five stories over concrete on one side from the low edge of the roof and the roof was very steep. If I went over the edge I would have a catch line and work my way down or at least the fire fighters could have come and brought me down if I broke something. Free fall to death was not on my agenda in those days. Now I am so old that I am unsteady two steps up a step ladder with my balance shot, so thanks for taking us along.

Learned very basic rappelling and climbing skills as a young adult. Our instructor was very old school, so we learned the actual rope knots to use to ascend, using rope on rope only. The short rope knotted pieces would tighten when weighted and loosened when off weight. So stand, slide the upper rope up, sit and slide the lower rope up to stand again. As you explained. When we had ascended the prescribed precipice a few times with only ropes, we were allowed to use mechanical ascenders. The mechanical ascenders were so much easier, but appreciated having the knowledge of knowing how do do it with basic equipment. Nice vid!

That was a Nail Biter video!! Had my stomach in knots even though I knew you made it because you put out the video. Awesome video and camera shots, as always. I look forward to seeing your videos every Saturday morning. Thanks for taking us along on your awesome adventures!

This is the first time ive ever seen mention of anyone going to this part of california. I got lost once for 6 days about ten miles north of here climbing what we thought was Mnt Picacho. As you mentioned there are a lot of picachos nearby. I Really enjoyed watching this. your channel is amazing.

Well, the video was published so I kept reminding myself you made it back! That helped me watch the video... When I was very young heights did not bother me at all and would climb trees, cliffs etc. Then I got older and heights became scarier for me. Glad you can still do it! Thanks for taking the EXTRA effort to film the climb. Well done!

The answer to your question. No. Those little steps to the bridge looked scary! Plus that conglomerate heap is disconcerting at best! I love learning about rope systems. And as usual your aerials are gorgeous!

Since you posted it, I knew you made it okay. Be careful on those lone climbing excursions. (I know you are.) What a view from the notch! I love the way it comes into view from behind the top. Going up and down those ladders and back and forth across the ledges to retrieve your camera, has to be energy draining. But thank-you. This is my adventure for the week!

Thank you for sharing this. This is an activity that I'll never be able to do, but I enjoy watching the process and seeing the view. And thank you for so simply explaining repelling and climbing back up. I've always wondered how a person would retrieve their rope after anchoring and repelling down away from it.
