This was a really great video Sifu Sergio. I have been a big fan of yours and have followed your UA-cam channel and videos for over a decade now. I wish I could study in person with you or one of your top senior students, but since I am located in the US and don't travel, that is not an option for me. I checked out your online school, but you only offer lessons in drips and drabs offering only 1 video per week, that equates to only 4 videos per month. I am almost 60 years old, and not in the best of shape with a limited amount of time left. I need to progress faster than 1 video a week. Anyway thank you for this informative video and I look forward to your future videos.

My online course needs the 1 lesson a week format as next to the technical side its about Internal Cultivation and it just needs that time, it’s already given in the fastest time possible and that’s based on years of experience. Just give it a try and follow the instructions and you will get results. Thanks for the feedback

Problem with one lesson a week is that some students may already have some experience. The one lesson a week is putting me off as well tbh

    Thank you. Very informative.
This distance stuff is very important since so many people doesn't seem to know these things and for them Wing Chun is kinda like rigid body boxing from chi sao training range.
I know the very basics of internal engine but snake engine is still mostly mystery for me - what it adds to internal engine and how to define it. Answer lies somewhere in Emei and snake reeling section of 1850 Siu Nim Tau. It has something to do with direct, roundabout and recovery momentum handling 🤔 Waiting to experience it so I can get some reference point.
Sorry, I kinda output these monologues to arrange my thoughts and to learn 😅 According to my experience it is a good thing to stand on own two feet, play with stuff from all directions and try to detect connections between it's parts to develop insight.

Thank you for the feedback, why don’t you come to one of the 1700s/1800s Internal Wing Chun seminars of the eternal spring institute in Madeira or when one is held overseas so you can experience it

@@SifuSergioChannel I don't think my current skill level is enough for that, at least not yet 😅 Mostly I use this stuff as qigong and healing, I'm not very good at kung fu. Like to research these underlying principles behind all these seemingly separated phenomena. Would be interesting to visit, though. Maybe some day in the future if I have the money I can visit there. If not as a qualified kung fu practitioner, then just as a tourist to do some research. It's very intriguing place :)

I Previously considered my Wing Chun punch, to be of a pretty decent power... However, it wasnt until I specifically decided to develop maximum short range power... that I attained a whole other level of impact potentials, via Fully Mastered Fajin expression. Well beyond Lethal levels of power, within less than 2 inches of Runway...
Sergio, my question to you... is about Finger Strikes / Dim Mak. Is Specific Dim Mak points, part of the Biu Gee / Wing Chun training? Ive seen the Dim Mak points shown in some WC books... but as far as I know (I never got to finish learning the full art... because all of my Sifu's kept moving) ...that it may not specifically taught in any WC schools.
After developing Masterclass levels of Fajin... I easily recognized that its the reason why people like George Dillman have completely unreliable Dim Mak / Pressure Point striking results. He has never developed actual Fajin expression... so his methods only seem to work (at best / if at all), against extremely weak and out of shape students (and also, likely because they are Subconsciously cooperating, too).
Fajin is the true Secret to actual, Real, Dim Mak results... such as causing so much internal Inflammation, that bloodflow circulation, is severely reduced (or at highest levels.. you simply cause an actual Rupture... causing internal bleeding / d3ath)
Of course, you could just use a fajin fist strike to the forehead, and cause instant brain damages / ruptures... so maybe its not really needed to be part of the teachings... Especially Since WC is a Reduced / Simplified Artform... and learning and mastering precision point striking, may have required too much time to develop.
However, I have wondered if teachers like Yipman may have learned these points, and methods... but potentially refused to teach them to Others.
I had read, that Yipman had only every taught the Butterfly Swords, to two people in his entire Life... and that only a select few were ever allowed to learn the 3rd level of Wing Chun teachings. Ive speculated, that Yipman held a lot of key things back intentionally... Likely because a lot of Secret Gangsters, may have been taking his classes. That, or special students that were learning + passing the class lessons to certain Gangsters.
One of the former students told a story about Yipman teaching him... and asking him the question: "How do you know that Im teaching you REAL Wing Chun?"
I tend to believe, this question was intended to make the student go out and Test everything, for themselves. But it could also HINT at certain "key" things... being intentionally taught incorrect, too.

One more thing... Have you ever used a Toe-Stabbing kick, within Wing Chun's fighting framework ? As Part of my Iron Body conditioning routine... Toughening the Toes was one thing I did. Eventually I started toe-kicking the heavy bag, and sandbags. I figure, its the equivalent to a finger strike... but using the Feet, instead...
Not long after I had mastered this... I was sparring against a Kyokushin Karate instructor, at his school. I notice his lead legs thigh was "Open", and so I used a Toe-Stabbing kick, nailing his inner thigh. He partially buckled down a little.. and he was temporarily unable to move... so I then easily stepped in with a flurry of handstrikes.
After that, he stopped sparring, and asked me what I did, and what it was called. Said he never felt / experienced anything like that before. He said that it was sort of like a very bad cramp / charlie-horse... and like said before... he was temporarily unable to move, as a result.
I would later also target areas.. such as the inner crease of the Hip Folds, or directly at the hip Sides... As well as using it to extend the reach of a kick to the abdomen.
Btw - I Mostly trained my Fajin expression, by using a free hanging canvas bag, hung at a 45 degree angle, filled with something like 15 to 20 lbs worth of Steel BBs. It was around 7 inches in thickness, in the center most part of the bag. I also used to inch-punch the metal Safe Door closed, when I was at work. Of course, in addition to a lot of other things, like Slow motion bareknuckle pushups.
One time while doing a Demo for an MMA fighter, I used about 10% level of Fajin, on my downwards forearm deflection... (Jut Sau?) and unfortunately, even that was way too much. In less than an hours time... the injured area of his arm (around the wristbone area), swelled up nearly double is size.. and he was great pains for many days to follow. Of course... that 10% would not have causes an injury... had he not went against our previously agreed "Medium" (safer) levels of power output. He got angered... and amped up to full power.. and it amplified the impact potentials, exponentially...
That said... his poor Opinions of the Chinese Arts, and Wing Chun... completely changed that night.

Yes, in the (our) old days i often wonder, why KK tell us that Chi Sao Position is H2H, if i have always do a Step to come to the Partner or if i stretch my fist i am not at him..
Is this here the right meaning of .. i think Leung Ting tell us in WT Kuen .. this will be trained in the Biu Tze? The story of Yip Man where his foots are rooted and his limb could be extreme flexible?
    Greetings

Would you say that this range you are showing is slightly closer than Hong Kong WC?
All of your strikes were open hand palm strikes - are these the white Crane arms ?
Any elbows or forearm filing strikes at this range? Or are you too close? Or is it just a preference?
    Thx

    • @SifuSergioChannel
      @SifuSergioChannel  6 місяців тому +1

I would say it should be the same range as HK Wing Chun many however don’t have the right engine to make it work so they are a little bit further off then Wing Chun actually dictates, the open hands strikes are just a personal favourite of mine and used a Lot in White Crane yes, at this range I could also throw elbows no problem.
