I love the basting with whiskey, one of my friends makes whiskey and uses chunks of smoked furniture grade oak. I am Going to try following your process in my electric and see how it goes. Thanks for the Demo
Oak would be an excellent fuel. I used the Mesquite from Lazzari and we know that is a hot fuel. Your friend makes whiskey or shine? More built in flavors with aged barrel whiskey. I was going to use Makers Mark but sadly to little left in bottle. I went with one of my better Tennessee aged ones and its full of flavor. Again you most likely will not taste it in the cook. But the smoked hints of aged oaks just might. I messed up that cook by using an untested seasoning that has way heavier on the salt. So I missed tasting the finer notes. I share this to suggest keeping your rub flavors low to experience the whiskey. ;)
@@pioneersmokehouseschannel ahh, really cool hobby. I have seen this technique on a tv show about this and they were really successful. Might be nice to play around with that one day in really small batch like 1/2 quart to see what flavors could be made. Sounds like your going to have some fun. You making a vid on cook? or is this just all about testing?
Hey, that's our Freedom Fire Pit. We light that up late afternoons and when the neighbors see the firepit burning they bring over their pick nick chairs and we enjoy its warmth for a few hours. Beer, wine drinks, snacks or potluck and we look forward to it again a week or two later. It's been going now for a few months. Our way to celebrate getting out and enjoying a great evening with friends and nieghbors. They can shut down Disneyland, but they can't control a village who enjoy the freedom of a great campfire. ;) Its why I have been adding it to the ends of my vids. As long as they want to shut us all down I'll celebrate 🍾 as much if not more than ever before. Let freedom ring. ;)
Thx, yes I cooked them the way I wanted with a dry bark. I messed up by using a seasoning that was given as a gift. For us it was way to salty so I need to do this cook over again soon ;)

@@MXP90DL he has made shine but he makes small-batch whiskey in stainless with the cooked wood chunks to replicate the flavor of the barrel
