Cody’s point of view makes a little sense given how different wrestling is compared to the traditional villain. Movie and TV villains only have to worry about the characters in their world. Wrestling villains need to worry about both the characters in their world AND a live audience. If a villain does dastardly stuff to a hero and the crowd loves it, everyone will complain that they don’t turn face. And when they do turn face they can’t keep doing the dastardly things without people saying “they shouldn’t do that as a face”
after last night, Brooks Jensen trying to break back into NXT now has some more context, and I kinda like what they're doing with it. I hope this helps Jensen get going as a singles guy.

Have Shane be in the New Elite team, but he should not wrestle. He may interfere and affect matches, but NOT wrestle.

Takeshita is a perfect example of giving him multiple big wins but giving him absolute 0 follow after except for him to lose momentum because he lost to Chris Jericho after beating kenny omega twice🤦. Or doing nothing with him again but lose after he basically squashed Darby allin. Even during the ladder match the crowd was hot for takeshita climbing the ladder to get the belt but Tony went with Jack instead🤦. What is concerning to me is that will had to go to Tony and suggest he put swerve over to silence the swerve is a paper transitional champion narrative because what if will didn't say anything to tony? Would swerve have continued to have underwhelming challengers like at forbidden door to kojima, goto, magnus or Atlantis Jr into he eventually lost it too will. Shouldn't Tony be making those decisions and not having talent suggested it to the boss because ospreay loses nothing losing too the current world champion.

@@SteveAndLarson oh I was there... like literally there for his last match in Cleveland against Sammy. Cody did too much at times, but that's an effect of not having any real authority. He was fine. AEW's audience was iffy as hell at that time

I actually fan'd out from your response...I don't think Cody should have had full authority. I think Cody needed somebody to save him from himself. But AEW has poor leadership. He strived under an organized system. I think AEW caters to us dumb fans way too often and that's a major part of their downfall

I disagree with Cody. For example, Heath Ledger’s Joker is a fantastic villain who is also a fan favorite. You can be an interesting heel if you take one or two things too far.

Cody’s definition of a bad guy is more accurately, the description of a bad character. It is entirely too meta to work in the WWE.
