    Excellent series of videos - thoroughly enjoying them. Now I want to go and see the places myself

      Thank you Charles. Most places are accessible and on a nice day, the latter parts are rather beautiful.

    Hello Bob. I do like your style of story telling. You use old maps alongside new and you also have a number of graphics at your disposal. When you were close to the M3 your voice was not drowned out by the traffic noise. In my latest offering 'The Anton Way', I cut much of the footage out because the noise from thr A303 was horrendous. You've clearly got a very good setup. Keep making these wonderful videos.

      Hi Guys, thank you for your kind comments. No fancy stuff really, just a go pro for the ground filming, although surprisingly it has a pretty decent microphone.

      @@PASTFINDERexploring Hi Bob. I also use a gopro with the Hollyland Lark m2 attached. I had to buy the gopro mod in oder to use the aforementioned microphone. The mod itself has a useful microphone, but gives me lots of other options.
      However it did pick up a lot of noise from a nearby major road. I guess I'll have to experiment with the settings.

      Thanks Benjamin, and for your kind comments. I'm really enjoying doing the series. Little tunnel bridge can be difficult to locate. For such a large structure, it's well hidden.

    Beautiful day and we managed to not break any limbs at Little Tunnel Bridge. Excellent work both in filming and historical content.

      Yes it was, the lack of broken limbs is always a bonus. Thanks.

    BRDC - The concrete post might be a boundary marker for Basingstoke Rural District Council, which existed until 1974. You could possibly check from an old map.

    • @PASTFINDERexploring
      @PASTFINDERexploring  2 роки тому

      Hi Peter, yes that's been suggested by a few people now and sounds very plausible. Makes that marker almost 50 years old in itself. Wonder what the canal looked like in 1974?

    Another great video, thank you. Can't wait for the next part. We were a bit further along than you over the weekend and looked into the collapsed Greywell tunnel.

    About those letters you mentioned "B R D C" might be Basingstoke Rural District Council perhaps?, great filming and lovely scenery.

    Fantastic video with lots of interesting information and features. Them navvies certainly knew how to dig, wonder if there was a digging apprenticeship back in the day. The area at Brick Kiln bridge is very tranquil and serene.

      Cheers Steve, they probably dug it on a free day. Amazing what an extra penny will motivate you to do.

    Excellent video, the scale of the workings on what was a rural canal surprised me.

      Thanks Tim, Yes the size of those cuttings and embankments were vast. Had they built it just a few yards lower down the contours, the workload would have been much less. Still, makes more to see today.

    Really enjoyed seeing these. Have you tried looking for the Somersetshire Coal Canal - great flight of locks with chambers still relatively intact at Coombe Hay. Keep up the great work.
