Oh how I needed your inspiration! We all escaped getting COVID for three years until the day after Christmas and we all got it at once. Needless to say it felt like being hit by a train 😂. I do nine trees for Christmas, decorate every room though very simple and primitive. I was so sick and thought for sure it would never get put away. We live in an old home too, 1886, antiques, primitives, odd spaces in our rooms and normally I love working with it until COVID exhaustion hit, no smell and candles are my way of relaxing, cleaning, decorating and decluttering. Love, love, love your home, brown tones are my favorite too, the warmth of old wooden treasures that have endured years of wear and the coziness it brings. New subscriber from central New York, love your channel❤ Debby
Ugh I hope you’re feeling better!!!! The exhaustion is no joke! We’re close, I’m in upstate New York!!! Thank you so much for watching/commenting and welcome 🥹🫶🏻🫶🏻
What if you cover the window with a curtain and center the hutch in front of it. That way you don’t have the awkward light coming thru. At least the curtain it could act like a painted accent wall.
What if you used the hutch as a room divider between the dining room and living room? Would you still have room to walk past to the stairs? If the back does not look good, you could do some sort of treatment on it like maybe shiplap. Furniture does not always have to be on a wall, in fact, often looks better if it’s not. Glad to see that you are posting more often!
That’s a great idea! I would genuinely love that for down the road. But right now with the kids I like to try and keep things open for them to ride they’re ride on toys etc haha
I just posted my first video on my channel!! I wanted to personally thank you because you are one of the few people on here who have inspired me. You have shown me the house doesn’t have to be perfect, the editing doesn’t have to be perfect, & life in general doesn’t have to be perfect. I’ve put it off for 6 years telling myself I couldn’t do it because x,y,z but not anymore! I hope we can be friends!
I never realized how many antique and vintage pieces you had. Have you ever thought about filming an antique/vintage shop along? There's a whole community for that on here. Your displays look great!
Our home in NY was like that too.....hard to place furniture due to windows and doorways. It all looks great! I still have my Christmas decor up....I'm not quite ready to take it down although some outside stuff came down today because of crazy weather forecasted for this afternoon/evening. But I will probably go to a more neutral palette as well when I do take it down. 😊 You always do a great job with your decor.❤
Hope and pray you all are feeling better🙏 Yes they must have a radar always happens to me too when I’m trying to have my alone time 😂 I’ve always loved the way you decorate we have very similar style! Everything looks so beautiful!
I personally would revisit moving the hutch all the way over to the right where only part of the window is blocked. Otherwise try it on the partial wall to the right, allowing it to stick out in the walkway (if wide enough). IMHO it looks more out of place floating in the middle of and blocking the entire window. Another alternative would be to look for a buffet (or just the lower part of this hutch) and install decorative shelves on the walls.
I thought the same thing though hard to tell how much wall space is to the right. I’d try to not block the natural light from the window if possible. These old homes sure can be challenging
I’m definitely going to play around with it more! Maybe if I moved it to the right and added a curtain it wouldn’t look so odd to me pushed to the right. I’ll update you guys in another video! 🥰 thank you for the suggestions!!
@@Tristina_Rose You could experiment with curtains on both sides or just the left as that might balance the weight of the hutch on the right. Yes, old homes have their challenges but their charm makes it worth it.🥰
You did great with the neutral pallette! Brown is my favorite color, love the wood accents and antique kitchenware you used❤ I've had to block windows with shelving/risers to keep one of my dogs from breaking windows when barking at birds. Your hutch is so much nicer than my attempts😊
As always such a joy to watch your videos. I’m trying to learn since starting my own you tube channel at 60. Editing and music is such a struggle for me. So I love to watch your they are amazing. I loved the simple center piece and that vintage scale is amazing . Loved everything you did. See you in the next one.❤
This might work! If I only have the hutch cover half the window and curtain the other half. Hmmm. I’m going to have to play around with it! Thank you for the recommendation!
Thank you for your hutch decor. You have such a creative talent. I get alot of inspiration from you. Thank you again, I love spending time with you, watching your vlogs.😊
Hi! I hear ya about the kids waking up. Goodness the struggle. You look Beautiful pregnancy looks great on you. Where are your kitchen curtains from? I’m looking for some new ones. Thx fr sharing.

That’s a great idea! I honestly got a lot as hand me downs from my mom and just from garage sailing!!

@@Tristina_Rose that sounds perfect, move to the right if you can and a curtain. Can’t wait to see what you decide to do

Aw Debby you started posting videos?! I’m going to have to watch tonight! That is so exciting 🫶🏻
try putting up a curtain. either half way and slide the hutch over. or on both sides

My opinion, the hutch top needs to go, blocking that window looks odd. Love your video and the decor.
They unfortunately don’t disconnect but the top part is my favorite part to decorate 😭 lol I’m going to try and figure something out! Thank you! 🫶🏻
I love the way you decorate! 💚
Thank you so much Diana!
Decor turned out great.
