"Sock" boots are a trend that started 10 years ago now, with their popularity only increasing ever since! With that in mind, simply building a football boot with a knitted upper does not provide a true "sock" boot experience. They should feel like socks. If they don't what's the point?
In today's video we take a closer look at the latest New Balance Tekela v4+ Pro Laceless, arguably the most sock-like "sock" boots ever made! We go over all the details of their laceless knitted upper design, and discuss why these might be the absolute best option for you, if you're on the market for a pair of "sock" boots in 2024!

In my opinion currently NB has the best line up of 2024
this, and the futon were both 2023 boots. adidas takes 2024 so far
i have the furons and love them. would be interested in getting these as well when they go on sale
Hey Josh, seeing as you made videos of Puma Future 7 Ultimate and Pro, can you pls also review the Puma Future Match?
These are beautiful
I wish these were laced... I know thwres the lows, but I want the sock collar plus lockdown from laces. I have the tekela v4 but to get good lockdown I had to go half a size down and my toes suffer for it
I really like the Tekela. The upper is soft and needs no break in time at all. Tbh I would recommend going half size up.
Perfect boot for wide footed players!
Only issue is that the heel will hurt at the beginning.
Will the lockdown be affected too much by going half a size up?
@@simoncodm8011 I just think they have the sizing a little of. If you are between two sizes I would definitely go with the larger size.
How does the soleplate do on AG? Are the bladed studes on the outside an issue? Because the base is conical so it does look alright to me. Because I play on fg and ag and the studs of the ag version look a bit to short for what I want. And I’ve seen that the ag boot is wider as well what would not be ideal for me. I think the FG model is the one to go but I’m asking just to make sure
In terms of sock like boots, I think the puma futures do it the best. The phantoms gx2 i found too plasticky, and the tekelas I wasn't a fan of. Very low volume in the forefoot above the toes, causing a lot of discomfort
Hey Josh, I haven't been paying much attention to cleats in recent years, but my current ones are starting to really wear out. Money is pretty tight right now, so I'm just looking for a pair that will hold up for a while. Can be current or old model, high or low end, doesn't matter too much if I can find a pair around $100 or less. Any quick suggestions you can think of? Should I go with an AG model with reinforced upper-sole bonding? (I mainly play on FG)
Nike Tiempo Legend Academy for the price is really solid 👍
I want some boots that when you hit the ball hard it makes music noise
What’s the coupon code? When I go to the link it doesn’t give it.
cannot put the fot through the sock...
Can I buy cleats straight from your sight?
Do they still run a half size small tho? Still a super good boot tho
True to size 👍
I kind of hate how the inside metatarsal has nothing but thin fabric covering it. That's the part of the foot key for striking with power, obviously. Did a playtest of the original Tekela v4 laceless (non updated version), and it definitely hurt a little bit to shoot with them.
I’d say they’re no different from other knitted football boots. From the thickness perspective, even down to the placement of the elasticated knit on the metatarsal, these are similar to the original Magista Obra.
@@Soccerreviewsforyou Magista Obra elasticated material goes straight down the foot, it doesn't angle to the inside as with these Tekelas.
The metatarsal is the hard bone area of the top of the foot. Usually the inside metatarsal is covered by the upper of the boot where the laceholes are on that side, generally a firm area of the material on most boots. The laceless v4 Tekelas however use a fairly deep cutting elastic fabric area which angles inside, rather than to the outside (e.g. laceless Predators) or right down the middle.
With laceless tekelas, striking with the inside metatarsal actually is striking the ball with a literal sock at the primary point of impact.
Are the wide ones any wider in the toe box? Had to return those bunion factories immediately 😢 perfect boots otherwise
Also curious as to how much wider they are overall
@@tristenmathis3125 if they’re anything like the original v4, the mid foot is nice but the toes are just as cramped as a standard speed boot. Murder on the big toe. Lazy manufacturing
TEKELA / come un guys, just call it TEQUILA and while you´re at it, take a good trip to the AA
On the topic of laceless football boots, I had a question. I recently bought 2 pairs of Adidas X Speedportals + for around $90 as they were an old model and was wondering if adding laces to them would work as I don't fit in the Speedportal .1 but want the lockdown from them.
Can i get one for free..😢
The best boot I think.
Hopely full will ever got a boot like this..
I have nike boot year of 2013 till now. 😢
