Great episode Spencer! It was short, simple, and to the point. I liked the split screen shot, showing how to put the trap together. It was great to know it's an inexpensive way to catch minnows and I'm glad you mentioned looking into what types and how many minnows you can have at any given time. Thanks for another good show. See you next month.
Thank you for the positive words! Glad you liked the it! We really appreciate you watching and commenting every month, and we'll continue to bring you an awesome new episode every month!
I actually do a bit of micro fishing when trying out a new minnow creek. Once I catch a couple I know what type of minnows are there and can decide weather it's a good spot to trap bait or not. Thanks for watching and commenting, tight lines my friend!
But then there's no leftover bread for minnow trapping lol! I guess you'll have to sacrifice a middle piece to put in the trap :) Thanks for watching and commenting Nathan!
Apparently there's a magic to this . I have 2 traps been setting out about # weeks in Bushes. Next to vegetation and moved around. So far I have 2 baby bream and numerous crawfish but not the first minnow.must say though crappie hit those baby bream quick
Great vid and channel. Something I learned from bait trapping. Don't keep minnows and crayfish in the same bait container over night. The crayfish kill the minnows.
Thanks George appreciate you watching and commenting! I never thought of that before but it's a great tip and I'll be sure not to do that! Tight lines bud!
In Canada we have some fairly strict conservation laws. These are in place to protect the fisheries. I am sure Spencer has a more detailed explanation, but for a lot of us, we do it to ensure there are good strong fishing opportunities for future generations.
Sorry I was away on vacation when you commented but thanks for the question. We do have regulations on most species of fish including bait fish. Some bait fish species are at risk of being completely wiped out so there are certain kinds you are not allowed to keep. There are also limits on how many you are allowed to possess, if there wasn't anyone could go trap thousands of minnows and the rivers would get depleted. The rules are very easy to abide by and it is every anglers duty to follow the rules so that future generations can enjoy fishing as much as we do!
Wow those are some pricey minnows! $6 is about the average price I pay around here for medium sized minnows, the larger ones are even more but I'm glad I'm not paying over $10 that's cray! Hopefully you can use these tips to trap some free minnows next time you go fishing. Thanks for watching and commenting, tight lines my friend!
Spencer, First let me start by saying thank you for using the Gee's G-40 galvanized minnow trap. Great job on the video! Did you look at other traps before buying the Gee's G-40? Why did you pick the Gee's G-40? We have been making the Gee's G-40 for over 100 years in New York State. If you get a chance, check out these videos to see the accessories for the Gee's G-40. Let me know what you think. In the future be sure to use the Gee's name in your title and/or discussion to be recognized for a possible give away. ua-cam.com/video/1ktCNbrOa5Y/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/3kvTPFlat0s/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/AX7dTmD5UKk/v-deo.html Thanks again,Greg PopoviceTackle FactoryThe manufacturer of the Gee's G-40 products
Hi Greg thanks for watching! I chose the Gee's G-40 because it was recommended to me at my local tackle store. He said it was the best trap money could buy and he was right! The trap works perfect every time and I always get all the minnows I need! I checked out the accessory videos and would love to do a review on them sometime. The floating lid looks awesome and I look forward to using one. Send me a private message and we can discuss some more products I could review for you.

I agree, live minnows are $12 per pound in my neck of the woods, sometimes I catch and sell bait, good video thumbs up.
It's crazy how much minnows can cost! Definitely cheaper and way more fun to trap them yourself :) Thanks for watching Chuck!

No kidding, it's easier for me to catch large bass on lures than it is for me to catch minnows in these traps.
