Hi from the Netherlands, how nice to see you again! I like the way about you that you are honesty, transparent and you are always such a funny person. That is very rare on UA-cam.❤ Thank you for updating your home. Tchau! Angel xxx😘 • P.s. “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.”
Keep at it P, you'll get there in the end, I have faith in you & it'll all be worth it in the end! At least when things get too much for you, you are in probably the most amazing place in the world so when you immerse yourself in its nature, things won't seem as bad. My poncha is better than yours as you'll bear witness in my vlog from last Sunday lol! 😝 I hope to be over again in early May so I'd better see you this time since I missed you a few weeks ago! Enjoy the rest of your weekend m'dear 🤗
I know your pain... redoing electrical in my 60year old apartment at times to 'add' so much as a 'modern' microwave because the breaker box has 4 underated breakers as well a 'Ninja Airfryer' and a rice cooker... they have used a computer powerstrip to plug in my gas oven and my gas water heater with a $300 outdoor extension cord instead of using UL rated standard house coated wiring.. I am really out of ideas when I have two AC wall units that if I turn on the microwave while watching my 75" something TV sumthin 'is gonna trip. I live life on the cutting edge. hehehe The shower head in the bathroom stood 5ft 5 inches tall... I had to raise it up to 6ft 4inches... the sink disposal might be on the fritze so I replaced it,, thing is the wiring to it is 2 wires (no ground) and my outlets in bathroom and kitchen don't have internal breakers until I swapped them out. Once I got under cabinet lights I enjoyed having them ON over my granite counter tops. Now I never have enough counter space bc I prefer cooking with my airfryer instead of an oven & stovetop and like my hotplate/skillet soo much better. Yay, I can cook muffins and cookies in an airfryer without hunching over an Oven door!
Moved to Madeira with my little family and we are still settling in. We are in Funchal, just above Old Town. What do you do for work? I run a design and illustration studio from home, would be great to meet up and chat.
Many thanks for this update, I hope to be moving to Madeira from London next year, we are currently searching for a small house with land, some of them are being advertised without a licence - fro m your experience is is something I need to be worried about?
I really missed your videos, we are in Riberia Brava and took a restoration even more complicated then yours, feel free to pop around one day, I can show you on how to make poncha, how we solved all problem and put you in contact with some better tradesman, is your electrician a dwarf??? with all respect the switches high is 145 cm unless you are a disable and ask for lower high. we had your same problem while living in UK , life here is like a paradise and we all living happy on a budget. let me know how can i pass you my builder phone number.
120k seems really high? Maybe it would be treated as a rebuild at that point? Also you’d need planning permission which takes a long time. I’ll be on the island first and second weeks of December to hopefully close on our house purchase.
Electricians and painters are the worst labourers to tolerate IMHO !! I think you put too much Rum in the poncha 🤣. I´m preparing my trip TO Funchal for the 2025 fireworks and to Sao Vicente (with 0 roaches) where a German Swiss UA-camr is reciclating his old stone house he bought 3 years ago. I´ll have a pastel de nata at Sao Vicente and look at the new Continente
As long as you still can enjoy poncha, life is great! :)

Welcome to the island Katt! so glad to hear that you and your family are settling in :D
Chin up P. You are an inspiration to many but don’t make good poncha - not sure who told you that?! 😉

This. 120K for a roof in Portugal? Most likely being scammed.
I second this

Sounds like you've got it all mapped at Teodoro. Madeira awaits! :D
