Pegasus Starter was my very first deck. my dad bought it for me. but back then, i never knew it would become as expensive and as an antique as it is today.
I miss the old yuigoh. I remember being able to win locals with a thrown together Earth deck that focused on Muka Muka and Guardian Sphinx. Back then everyone had decks that they created themselves. Those were simpler times.
Sandor "The Hound" Clegane I mean, looking at the starter deck I'm remembering having used basically 70% of such a starter deck for quite some time after I started (and just add better monsters and some great spells/traps to it continuously - it was like "your own" deck which was never changed but just improved; not like "jimmy's meta-breaker field spell lifepoint summon lock", but everyone was having cool individual decks). Really high quality starters and great value-cost-relation, too!
Also most decks used to be simple "beatdown" decks like in the anime with some nice but basic synergies you could just build yourself - good times.
Tom I still use decks like that, but I usually get beaten by anyone who has a deck focused on a strategy.
To be honest XYZ’s and Synchros didn’t ruin the game, pendulums and Links did

@@TomJakobW I can say with some embarrassment that I never once built a 100% original deck from scratch. The deck I have now is one I have been adding to and changing around over the years, dating back to freakin 2003 when I bought the Yugi starter deck. Of course, my deckas it currently is today looks almost nothing like it was back then, with like... 95% of the cards being different. I don't play the game anymore, though I still occasionally buy decks to collect. I look back at all those years when I added and took cards out of what I considered my "main" deck with fondness. In a way, it grew up with me.

2001 - "OMG IM NOT SURE I CAN WITHSTAND 1500 ATK POINTS"2017 - "Exodia is shit. I can easily block it with my continuous trap card which allows me to roll a dice every move which determines the amount of cards I draw, immediately allowing me to activate my field spell, blocking my opponents effects which allows me to activate a counter trap destroying all your monsters.
STREETRATS there needs to be a legit old school format like up to pharaonic guardian or something, that would be cool but hard for some people to get hold of cards for.

I say monster reborn is the best card because it can bring back one monster from any graveyard like say you want to use your oppents blue eyes white dragon just use a monster reborn and bring it back from the graveyard and use it aginst them or to just make them angry

I have both the Pegasus and Joey starter decks in first edition. There's a store where I live in B.C., Canada, and it has like about 5 separate new Joey/Pegasus starter decks in first edition, and there only going for like $10 each. I'm thinking about buying them all and selling them on EBAY, but we'll see.

Personally, if I bought that rare deluxe box then I would let it remain sealed and keep as a collection cause opening eh loses its value, that's just me though.

My friend got a pre-release copy of this when I was a kid. I still use the box for my cards to this day! (Also the sleeves but they're pretty worn) Back then I was too bad at yugioh to really take advantage of the deck though and I found the toon monster concepts too complicated for my 6 year old self.

@holypriests12 Yeah but this was all before GX, 5D's, and Zexal, so synchros, xyz and all them fusion monsters didnt exist yet, so 5 for the extra was generally enough

@holypriests12 Nobody's forcing you to use the sleeves for your deck. Also, nobody's forcing you to have a side deck either. These things were marketed at kids who didn't have the means to build amazing decks, so they gave them enough to sleeve the entire deck, with 10 remaining for some of the pulls from their 2 packs of LON.
I know this is almost exactly 12 years old now but thank you for posting it. I still own this box but have since lost a ton of the cards (including Relinquished and the super rare trap which I forgot ever existed because it's been so long since I've seen it). So it was nice watching this knowing 10 year old me once opened this exact set two decades ago. Graceful Charity has thankfully survived, as has the box all this stuff came in. Most of the sleeves I still have, though my basement flooded a few years ago and the sleeves did an amazing job keeping the cards that were inside them from getting destroyed, though some of the sleeves have definitely seen better days :(

Everybody's talking about the old TCG now, so I'll have to say something now. I can't really say much about old YGO cause I entered the game 4 years ago, but I also want YGO to be a game where you only have to bring out a 3000 ATK monster and you have already won sometimes. Just sometimes, because now you have to think about every single action twice- and you have to be able to react to your opponents actions. I think that's the big difference to the old TCG, when you only had a trap hole or something like that to kill your opponents monsters. Now there's Bottomless, Warning and much more cards you have to worry about. That makes the new TCG special. I don't want to be killed by something like Blue-Eyes.

Most of the toon monsters are fake as they dont have the toon world effect. Well... they are not fake but they are promo so what this means is thay technically unplayable but i use promo UR (Ultra Rare) 3 Egyptian god cards. I have UR Exodia but its real and having UR its about 100 pounds a piece in a few years
I watched other Starter Deck opening videos and this just made them look extremely ridiculous. konami musta nerfed Starter Decks big time...
Remember if you planing to buy this deck, you might want to add 2 more relinquished, some more toons, the rituals for relinquished and some more traps/spells for the best toon deck ever !!!

he was not saying that was the rules of the real game but in season 1 of the organal show they werent allowed to attack directly but in season 1 they bascically made things up as they went and as long as a charcter was talking cards would contine to gain effects like using the arrow of light to fuse the mammoth graveyard or what ever it was called to a blue eyes ultamate to weakon it every turn
pal the purpose of the ban list is simple the fact that is for regulating broken decks is false its true purpose is that they make overpowerd cards so every one does the deck spends lots of money on it and after it make's it to tournaments they ban or limit the cards in order to stop the decks from circulating and people to buy new overpowerd decks and spend more money so you ignoring it is not a bad idea but unfortunately you wont be able to play in tournaments or with any yugioh mad fan.
I really wish you wouldn't put "best" in the title. My friend wanted me to start playing again, after like 10 years of not playing, and I am trying to find a good starter deck/box whatever and I always end up at your videos. It does not tell me anything about if it is good or not. I understand that it is a good way to get people to find your videos, but it is not helpful to the people who find a deck they want to start out with.

well, normally, i wouldnt want to spend surplus on yugioh cards, but if i got money from a free source then i wouldnt mind. just wondering if he ever gets this "surplus" but i guess it is pointless; because i dont wanna ask him myself. besides, this guy has probably a million cards that sell for a million bucks, and.... whatever.
5D's fucked the real fun .. now u can play 3 monsters 1 round and win on second no fun at all ... every card and 5 lines of effects ... its just boring only to read it but not just that with these kind of effects speel and trap cards are a bit useless but i got to say i'll always prefer old school cards .. but thats just my opinion
It seems like you've never been under a Yata Garasu Lockdown before, or have been Raigeki'd when you were completely winning. Sure we miss the old cards, but Konami doesn't just ban cards for the lulz of it, cards like Chaos Emperor Dragon and Crush Card Virus had to go. Those so-called "strategies" made the game unfair and requiring little strategy.
Back in the day this was the best starter deck, it beats the other by a long shot.
I remember getting the kaiba starter deck... it's funny how we used to play with mostly 'bad" cards. Where i live one of these starter decks would go for 40$ so it was pretty hard to make a good deck without selling your soul.
I haven't played Yugioh since I was in like 8th grade (I'm in college now) and what you said is what I thought happened. Yugioh is basically like Magic the Gathering now, you can't put any old random deck together, the ones that actually work are the specifically themed decks like these Inzecktor dudes, or the Six Samurai or whatever. YOU DANG KIDS, GET OFF MY LAWN
That's because "the good days" were years ago, when you and all of your friends were all in the age group that the yugioh phenomenon was marketed towards. Now that you've grown up, most people your age have outgrown the fad but yugioh has constantly kept a younger audience, so naturally, the people your age consider it immature and thus "nerdy".

I remember pulling Exodia (the torso) out of a Relinquished tin all those years back. Err, it might of been the other way around lol can't remember. Either way I cherished the fuck out of those cards and by that I mean putting them in my wallet and destroying them.

i used to get so pissed when people got cards through starter decks. Like this one is almost entirely made up of cards that would regularly be at least a super rare, if not ultra and toon blue eyes was actually one of the secret rares in its set. it ruins it for me when they are commons
I remember getting my first starter deck when i was 8, my cousin was already 12 and was always winning me with those gods card because i didn't know how to play, now it payback i'm 12 now and he's way older and play a game called league of legends but he came and visit me one day and get owned by me.
I miss the old series man. Was the best. I used to have an awesome deck. I had all three gods nd Exodia. I had three blue eyes nd blue eyes ultimate. I had dark magician. It took me ages to assemble that deck nd than one day three quarters of my cards just disappeared.
Just the whole concept of a Card Game School is pretty stupid. In the first series, it was the epic story of Egyptian Gods, pharoahs, shadow realm, evil spirits, saving the soul of his beloved grandpa from the hands of the inventor of the game itself, etc. Egyptian Gods > A goddamn Card Game School
All this brings me memories i remember having to wash cars cut lawns just to buy yugioh cards shit i still have my 1st edition holo jinzo that shit was 50 dollars was so excited when i bought now i have over eight folders of yugioh cards not sure if there worth much now

I had those sleeves before! I never remembered how I got them though. I didn't really care about putting my cards in sleeves until I got around 12-13 years old? And I got a Slifer GBI-001, I think it is, before i started using sleeves, yet I still have the Slifer and it's mint condition...
Pegasus and Joey had the best starter deck back then, Yugi and Kaiba were very disappointing

i just remembered while watching this video that i opened this box on my birthday and was extremely happy and i dont think u understand the memories this video made me remember and how i used to keep many of my cards in this box and use it for everything
...REMOVED, TRIBUTED (Lava Golem), CHANGED (Mind Control, Creature Swap), "GRAPHAed" & SKILL DRAINED too lol... besides the fact the card used for his cheap summon with Tokens is well banned, yeah not much of a THREAT anymore lol
these super are the one that glow coz in that case i must have tons of them and many 1st editions (they are original).Anyway im sure that i have this super thing lord of D.,flute of the summoning dragon and relinquished lol i probably had bought that deck too
I kinda agree with you. Syncs and xyzs are easy to summon. That's good. But some of them are too damn strong as if it were cheating. And new cards such as inzekters and windups are super strong that you don't even have a chance to win against it

There is no question that Pegasus' deck is awesome (prob my favorite), but I'd probably go with Kaiba's deck or Joey's if I was an amateur

when i bought this i knew that everyone bought yugi or kaiba deck... I wanted to prove that i could beat it with a pegasus deck... So the next day i went and kicked everyones ass with my reluinquished :D Ahhh good times...
