Miss Jill, you are so wise. And I really appreciate the truthful motherly advice you offered here. I needed to hear these things and am thankful for the thoughtful and polite but serious way you presented your thoughts on the home and the kids and stress. Thank you! I really enjoy listening to you on these videos with Tawra and her husband. New subscriber here. Your sister in Christ raising 4 kids ages 10 and under, Melissa 😁
Years ago I followed the side-tracked sisters and learned a bundle! The first thing I learned was to forgive myself for not being naturally organized. That helped alot! I'm far from perfect but I love having a place for everything, it makes me happy!
I am from Singapore, I have been following yr advise, I was overwhelmed as to where to start organising my home, now I am able to organise, Thumps up for the 3 of you.
For me throwing anything away is the hardest thing and not knowing where to start drives me crazy. I am Ill with 6 chronic Illnesses so it is hard to even do the littlest thing but boy I sure can have a lot of crap LOL Thank you for the great advice I really enjoy your videos
Hallelujah!! I've been commenting away on your videos lately but I just recently have found you all and I have time to binge and enjoy your videos. Merry Christmas to y'all! 🎄🎀🎄 🙌🙌🙌🙌 Thank you for entertaining me during my Christmas break!!
I just bought Dining on a Dime and Penny Pinching Mama, after wanting them for SO long! I have been binge watching you guys this week but have in general been watching for years. I am a poor cook and am so excited for this. Thank you for all that you do. It matters. So much. Always feel like I'm hanging out with friends when I watch 😊 love from NY.
I am working on getting my little cabin. organized. It's me;husband and 5 kids. My husband had hoarding issues. Not as bad as he used to be but he has trouble letting go of things.. little things clothes;sheets etc. But I get rid of this stuff now and he doesn't even notice.
I just cleaned our "junk" drawer about 3 weeks ago. It was to the point that I was "loosing money" because I wouldn't go in it to look for anything. I bought what I needed! I love these videos. I'm sorry I keep missing the live show!
Someone asked what can't be donated and you said computers and TVs. The Goodwills in Bakersfield, California, take these items and recycle them. They also take scrap metal and recycle it. Goodwill is very good about recycling whatever they can. They take clothes that they are unable to sell and put them into large bails and sell them to different companies. They also recycle shoes by selling them to a local shoe distributor. Their motto seems to be if an item can't be sold or doesn't sell recycle it. I think this is wonderful. What they throw away is really trash. They also recycle books. I am in the process of doing what is called Kon Mari to my house, garage, and outside shed. The idea is to only keep what you love and is necessary. If not, let it go. I am amazed at what I have let go of. Just yesterday I was going through greeting cards note pads, & thank you cards and before I knew I had filled up two large boxes (most of the items were not what I was going through, but found while going through them). I am getting pleasure out of only keeping what brings me joy. As I go through this process I am finding that I have control over my items, not the other way around. The books on how to do the Kon Mari Method are (1) The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up & (2) Spark Joy (both are by Mari Kondo). I saw the first one on a You Tube Channel, A Young Mum, and then she recommended the 2nd one. They are wonderful. First, you keep only what sparks joy and is necessary and after that is done you organize your home. Everything must have a place when you are done. Thank you for sharing this wonderful topic. I look forward to Friday's show and the videos that Tawra will be doing.
I'm older and go to work, I get cloths ready for morning, I wish my mom knew that one, she left it up to us, lucky I lived half a block away from school.
I shred everything that has my name on it, partial account numbers and RECEIPTS. Have a look at receipts and with a small pile of them you will find that you can put together your credit card/bank card number. I have done this - was desperate, had left the card at home and needed to access my account on line and was able to put enough different receipts together to make up the card number. If you have a pile of paper contact your town office, school etc to see if they bring in shredding trucks. AMA does this twice a year at no cost.
I work with someone who is very cluttered, and of course, can never find anything! Her 12 year old son is exactly like her. She cannot understand why he can never find his things and why he is always losing things. I would love to tell her that he’s that way because she’s that way; She’s the one teaching him to be that way!
I moved alot (26 houses) and in one move I found a box that appeared to be filled with folded newspaper and I thought - trust me, I am the only person who would move a box of folded paper - and so I threw out the box. Appears that every family photo of all the dead relatives was in that box, yup, I threw them all out; I can honestly say I haven't missed that box.....now if \i could just do the same with furniture, tools, exercise equipment, great aunt Bessie's tea set - you get the picture.
I agree, that's my #1 horror as well. I itemize my taxes, I'm self employed, I get mounds of paperwork. I also love crafts and cooking and I jot down notes and lists. paper, paper everywhere
I did initially buy my child a ton of toys ... when we moved it overwhelmed me.. I put them all away in boxes and get a handful into the living room where we play everyday .. that handful is only what I need to pick and tidy .. I rotate the toys often ...
I forgot to mention. That when I get rid of clothes....I don't get rid of my husband's clothes and he may be obsessive over getting rid of things but he doesn't notice when I get rid of things. That are out of sight. It really does help my anxiety and depression to clean and decorated.
one step at a time right This is Lisa I have congenital Hip dsyplasia and sciatic nerve palsy so pain and fatigue I also am not allowed to take heavy duty pain meds because of a hole in my brain they said I'd Die so I stick to Advil which doesn't work on a daily basis. I take a lot of breaks. I'm not supposed to bend over but I do anyway because if no ones home who's going to do it right I also can't left more then 20lbs I do have a contraption that helps me pick things up. Shawn's a great help when he gets home from work. The kids help a great deal too. But I get this feeling of no accomplishment my kids told me last week the house looks good I said no it doesn't I felt it needed more work even when I couldn't do it.
You should shred any bill that contains your name and address - particularly bills for home services like electric or water - since these can be used as proof of residence for someone trying to steal your identity.
- You should keep your Victrola crank in your crank drawer under "V". - I can't dump my junk drawer on my table, cause there's no room on my table...lol. - This might be beyond ''organizing'', but paperwork for home and business. I'm self employed (I have 3 jobs), I get investment information daily, manuals, itemizing tax receipts, medical receipts, desk work, bills, notes about meetings, invoices but also notes and lists. - Add that I love to cook, garden, and do crafts and have 3 piles of each, I did start 3 notebooks to jot notes in, but most notes get put on scrap paper, then gets mislaid. *Last year I almost missed getting my taxes in on time due to misplaced stuff. It's not as easy as you say it is to just "get rid of it". And it doesn't help that my husband is the same way. Yes, I have way too much stuff, and MOST of my stuff is "Garbage"... but I fear regretting it, if I let it go, because I have in the past let go of many things that to this day I regret, and wish I had to use in my projects now. By the way... I'm an artist & Crafter. There are a lot of things I "KNOW" it my head, but ... I just can't make myself do it. (It's just me, my husband, and our cat, here). I'm not too bad at keeping the dishes and laundry done. But... I have a lot of clutter. and I don't want to let go of most of it. Having said all that. I know that I need to do something. If I have a place for a thing, I'm pretty good about keeping it there. but Many of my things don't have a place where it belongs. ... mostly because I just don't know how to organize it so it will have a place, in a way that works for me. I had so many toys and clothes as a child that I couldn't possibly be organized. My mother would put us down for having so many things saying we were spoilt and so messy and she only had a few dolls as a child. I didn't buy the toys, it wasn't my choice. I remember at Christmas I would get tired of opening presents it was too much and I couldn't be grateful because I was tired of being thankful for so many things I didn't even ask for or want. I can only imagine, but it must be very easy to stay clean when you only have a couple dolls--I mean even if they were thrown right on the floor they would still not be that messy.
Everytime I'm rushed to go out the door or rushed to do anything I get very stressed and panic and me and my husband realized the other day I naturally do that because my mom would panic and stress when we were kids if we had to get ready and go somewhere because no one knew where anything was so it really does affect you as a child plus I need to get more organized but it was just a natural thing I did not realizing
I don't sleep well if the dishes aren't done. I have to keep a clean kitchen. Will never understand why people let their kitchens get so bad. Stay organized people!
It would be so great if Jill would be able to go through her notes instead of stopping for comments. I understand stopping for questions but I have to be honest, I'm here for Jill and Tawra (and Mike of course). I don't really need to hear others comments about what you all are talking about. Sorry if that sounds mean or rude, I love the long shows but would rather it be about you 3. Thanks for the GREAT show!
Just a point, not that I don't agree with you, but the point of the live stream is to be interactive. They do make other pre-taped videos on this topic and maybe this format is not the best for this topic.
You are totally right. The whole point of this is to be interactive. I guess that's why I said the questions being answered are ok. It's their show and I'll watch it no matter what format they use. Have a great New Year!
my husband can't ever find anything because when he gets done with a tool or something he most of my he time, doesn't return them to the proper place. I am the opposite, I put everything back. I know where my stuff is.
One thing I have a problem with is keeping up with the first thing that got cleaned, then doing another as well. I will clean the kitchen and get it organized. The following weekend I go to work on my bedroom, fold cloths, vacuum, dust, etc. and I walk out and the kitchen is in shambles. Short of tying up my husband so he can't dirty anything, its like keeping up with a tornado. LOL LOL LOL Sorry for venting. LOL
So there are everyday maintenance things you have to do like the dishes and keeping counters wiped and things put away. So even if you are working on your bedroom you still have to do these things in the kitchen everyday to "maintain". Usually the best time is to run the dishwasher at night, or do the dishes at night before bed. Then unload in the morning. You will be surprised how tidy doing that will keep your kitchen. Don't let dishes pile for a few days because it is way more work.
What you are saying about kids rooms is exactly what I think when I watch a certain vlog. The dad is yelling at the kids to clean these horribly trashed rooms that I would struggle to clean.
Biggest issue I have is very little to no closets/cabinets. I actually put a bookcase in my kitchen for food. I have a small hall closet, 1 bedroom closet, and one cubbard in my child's room. There aren't any drawers except my clothes chest. Slowly working on decluttering and organizing. (Clutterbug Cass talks about making sure everything has a home too. This is tricky, when there isn't anywhere to put stuff.) I put extra chapstick w makeup or possibly first aid/medical supplies.(Grantef I keep one in my purse and one in my work pants at all times.)
Tools? I got so disgusted over time with my husband misplacing tools and leaving them outside until they were wrecked, etc, that I just started buying my own set.
I have some constructive criticism. Why are your videos so long? I enjoy your topics but anything over 25 minutes is too long. I enjoy the information but I never make it through those super long videos.
You could always watch in 20-25 minute chunks. Many topics are multi-faceted & NEED extra time. Thank you Tawra, Mike & Jill for providing information that can easily be viewed live & interactive, taped in it's entirety or in chunks to fit my schedule 💜💌❤
I love that your videos are an hour long ~ I don’t sit on my behind and watch them, instead I turn the volume up and listen while I’m cleaning and organizing 👍🏻👍🏻
Jill really inspires me. Such good advice. Tawra and Mike we all know how wonderful you are, but it such a treat to have Jill back with us. I always learn from her and feel so much better after listening to her.

What you are saying about kids rooms is exactly what I think when I watch a certain vlog. The dad is yelling at the kids to clean these horribly trashed rooms that I would struggle to clean.
Yeah it's so sad to see parents yelling at their kids like that.
missed the live feed yesterday due to at hospital with my Son
Oh no! I hope he's ok.
he is on pain meds but its just a strain, lucky not worse damage to his back ty
Can't hear you guys and I have my volumn all the way up
I can't hear u ur volume is low now I can hear you
Thanks for the reminder I've been spring cleaning
Cant hear video, wish I could hear this video. Would like to listen to all your videos, already listen to some.
I cant get organized because i have too much crap. But its good crap ! 😁
Good video
Too many toys overwhelming for the children
Because we are live and we go live for 1 hour M/W/F. Just watch what you want.
You could always watch in 20-25 minute chunks.
Many topics are multi-faceted & NEED extra time.
Thank you Tawra, Mike & Jill for providing information that can easily be viewed live & interactive, taped in it's entirety or in chunks to fit my schedule 💜💌❤
I love that your videos are an hour long ~ I don’t sit on my behind and watch them, instead I turn the volume up and listen while I’m cleaning and organizing 👍🏻👍🏻
nike god 4 4 I like the long videos because I enjoy seeing friends interact and you can get more tips too.

Jill really inspires me. Such good advice. Tawra and Mike we all know how wonderful you are, but it such a treat to have Jill back with us. I always learn from her and feel so much better after listening to her.
Volume too low!
We’re required to keep the husbands (to late😁). Are we required to keep our grown children?🤨
Depends on the kind of husband you have.
