    This is an amazing body of work and will be a great help to me for future projects. Sewing can be very frustrating on occasions but you have a knack of explaining things very clearly and simply. Without doubt, you have a rare gift for teaching and have made these sometimes complicated sewing and fitting techniques understandable and easy to follow. I found it interesting too! Thank you!

    If I was to get that Simflex button gauge, I’d have to hid it from my hubby to stop it being relocated to his workshop for tenon joints heh heh.

    The fabric you linked to for the main fashion fabric has stretch, would you do anything differently with it? And when you interface the waistband, do you fuse each piece individually or block fuse? I sometimes get shrinkage when I fuse each piece, but I dislike block fusing because I waste a lot of interfacing. Looking forward to this sew along to learn the lining techniques. Thanks for all your great videos Whitney! I use the tutorials all the time.

    Thanks for this video, it was definitely worth the wait 😁 how did you calculate the amount of neckline that you needed for the spotty Jersey top? You took away 8 inches (I think) what is the way to work out how much you need? I hope this makes sense lol xx

    • @Penguinandpear
      @Penguinandpear  2 роки тому +1

      It depends on how stretchy your fabric is. I usually take 10-15% off the neckline measurement. It’s something you learn over time but I’d start with 10%, pin and assess. You want to have to stretch the band in but not so much it gathers. Hope this helps.

    Hello Claire. Thank you for all these useful tips :)
    I have a little question if you don't mind: how come you use a straight stitch to attach the knit neck binding? Isn't the collar supposed to be able to stretch a little?

    • @Penguinandpear
      @Penguinandpear  2 роки тому +3

      Yes but because you are stretching it as you sew you can use a straight stitch because it won’t stretch anymore than when you’re sewing it. Though most of the time I do use my serger. Hope that helps.
