This is almost exactly how I found Goldie. I spent over 500 tickets trying to find her, and then after I admitted defeat and let the plot autofill, she showed up in my campsite. I was just in shock for a good 15 minutes afterwards and kept staring at her off and on, laughing and screaming, before I finally started the process of moving her in. 😅

This was basically me but I got her differently. A nookazon trader was giving her away for free so I used my quick speeds and added a listing first. Now i have petri and probably couldn't be more happy that I have a fictional being made up of ones and zeros in my life.

i actually believe that they upped the chances of getting the new villagers. i went on a hunt and found petri in 10 tickets (didnt grab her though) and shino in 24 tickets. also marlo was in my campsite one day later🤔
Maybe for the campsite but for the islands they have a specific code so it’s literally pure luck you found them that fast. Petri is extremely rare to find on the islands because there are so many other mice it could roll for instead of her. Shino is much more common to find since there’s less deer to roll for. I found Shino in around 60 tickets. I spent around 1000 tickets to find Raymond so I took Shino knowing I didn’t want to spend 1400 tickets looking for Petri. It’s sadly pure luck to roll for a specific character that’s in a species that has 10-15 different villager like cats, mice, rabbits.
Same. I left Shino, Petri, and Sasha on their islands, then found Ione. I took her home ASAP. (She’s the only 2.0 villager I’m interested in ☺️

I lucked out and got Beardo this way. I remember really liking Beardo in New Leaf, and seeing him back in my town is rather awesome.
When I get someone at my campsite i say: “Diamond because you are worth a million diamonds.” Or “Heart because you stole my heart!” And “Spade, because you not living on my island would put a spade through my heart!” And “Imagine me without you... that would be like a smack from a club to the face...” lol I’m over dramatic.
It only took me 1 NMT to find Sasha and I found him right after the direct dropped by chance. I was so happy because he's the only one I wanted. He's such a comfort character I love him.

Literally happened the same to me with Raymond. I was thinking how I could convince my little sister to dump a villager if Raymond showed up in the campsite. In the end I was able to convince her to replace someone for Raymond.
