From the Deltarune Wiki: The Pirouette ACT has a seemingly random effect. In actuality, the effects for Pirouette rotate indefinitely until the battle ends, following this set order. Turn 1: No combat effects (plays a noise). Note that Pirouette cannot be used on the first turn of the battle due to starting with no TP. Turn 2: Lowers Jevil's defense by 4 unless already below -16 Turn 3: 60% fewer invincibility frames for this turn Turn 4: Decreases Jevil's Attack by 30% for this turn Turn 5: No combat effects (a bird flies across the screen). Turn 6: 25-55 HP heal to a random party member Turn 7: Party members' HP bars are shuffled. (Each party member takes on the current and max HP of the party member to their left or right, including the color of their HP bar.) Then, each fallen party member has their negative HP split among all three party members (with rounding) and are then revived with 1 HP. Then, any party members that still have negative HP (due to the splitting) are revived with 1 HP. Using this effect 2 or more times can cause a party member to receive their regular HP bar back At the end of the battle, all HP bars return to normal. Turn 8: Increases Jevil's Attack by 25% for this turn Turn 9: 36-50 HP heal to all party members
I had this open, ready to watch. I looked at the reddit guide and got the things, and I gave Jevil a try (not expecting to beat him, just to see how much it helped). I beat him 💀
Useless funfact: in 6:04 one of the ducks is actually an amalgamate from undertale's true lab which is rare Also in 4:53 its not called devil's knife it's called metamorphosis
God... That throws me back about 2 years ago, when I made a PDF tutorial for my girlfriend to beat Jevil with. I think I still have it somewhere. Since I couldn't move diagonally, I devised strategies for some attacks that just make a fool out of Jevil. For his first attack, you can just slightly tap up or down just before the spade hits you. It will never touch you. For the ring-around, just stay between two spades and you won't even need to move. For the Club Bombs, same thing as the first attack. I had other strats, but just following those tips this might give an edge to the player. All that said, great video. And good on your part for explaining the way Pirouette works.
I have another and simpler solution to the circle of spades attack! So you need to stand in the middle of the second to last hole in the spades and none will hit you! If this was helpful please like the comment!
Thank you a whole lot, truly! Your video helped me beat him at long last, ESPECIALLY the "it takes 9 Hypnosis/18 Piroutte ACTs to pacify him". May your days be well!
Here are a few extra tips on dodging some of Jevil's attacks: For the Club Bomb ones you can simply slowly move up until you reach the top of the battlebox, then get under the next one and start making your way down. This trivializes the attack. The second Carousel attack is I believe easier to dodge by staying at the left side of the battlebox as it makes the screen less cluttered (since you can only focus on a smaller part) and allows you to move to the right in order to give yourself more time to dodge if one of the bullets looks like it's about to hit you. DevilsKnife2 is easier to dodge if you know that the red one either spawns top left or bottom right, meaning that you have more time to react if you start going bottom left or top right. Chaos Bomb is literally just don't move around too much and get lucky you don't have Heart Bombs spawning at the start, his hardest attack by far for sure. And, of course, the famous Spade Circle Cheese, but I don't like using it; I have a more... elegant way of dodging those attacks. (also extremely minor correction but in his last phase the attacks he uses are only picked randomly from a pool of attacks, meaning there are some he will not repeat, including Spade Circle 1, DevilsKnife1, Rising Diamonds, Tired Diamonds as well as any Suit Bomb, all of which are instead replaced with Chaos Bomb (meaning it is three times as likely to be used compared to others).
Am i the only one who stays in the corner and slightly moves depending on where the ring around spawns? I feel like every tutorial and video does the normal spin around when imo the corner strat is way easier
As someone who was fighting jevil forever trying to use no items and still beat him I’ll tell you I have his attacks memorized to a tee with his dialouge and the attacks coordinated with when to use pirouette at the best times (after the carousal attack which heals a random party member by a bit really helpful because I HATE the club attack that comes next) after the club attack for the mixing up of hp (getting ralsei that extra hp is so handy if you’re trying to use no items in which point heal prayer is the best thing you got) after the second ring around attack for like 50 hp heal to everyone and the the piroute resets. Also I do not recommend defending much besides really grueling hard attacks for the fight route at least because you could be doing regular attacks and getting tp for free from that. It sucks but you rage when you realize defending before club attack (6th one I think) an attack which you can actually no hit cost you the entire game because you were 1 hit away. Not like I’ve seen that or anything. This fight when you have to do this stuff becomes as much a fight about remembering attacks as it is remembering what to do in the turn menu.
Thanks, im currently getting a 100% file with all items and i can beat spamtom without items but i cant beat jevil becaue of carosel and ringsround. Im way better at chapter 2 than chapter 1.
Something I discovered for the Circle Spade attack: You can sometimes just- stick to the bottom of the screen, right side and do minor course corrections if a Spade ends up too close to you. Figured that out by accident but you know I'm gonna use it. Also- I have no idea if Gear matters but I gave Susie some Shackles and a dice band and she's consistently the last member alive after an attack. Could be her High HP but builds seem to be pretty important when going into a Jevil fight.
if you mash the interact button during rude buster's animation, rude buster does extra damage. so the rude buster can do 166-196 damage with mane ax, and 177-207 damage with the brave ax.

not really, the spincake heals 80 hp to each party member which is still pretty good. If you are planning on using that same save for the rest of Deltarune I suggest not using the spincake since it will become better and better as the game goes on.
dude thanks a lot i beat him on my 2nd attempt i got rlly far on the 1st but ralsei was dead so i knew i was cooked but at least i beat him not so long after

just my luck that pirouette never works on the times that I use it
(note: the effects that say "for this turn" are inaccurate; I believe they work until you use another Pirouette)

For the ring-a-round, I just stayed in a corner, and if a spade pawns exactly at that corner, I move a little... Works tho lol

1. Notepad++
2. Beat Jevil
3. Notepad++ like nothing happened

for the ringaround, the spades have a small hitbox, in many no-hits the player goes in between the openings, thus making it easier

Am i the only one who stays in the corner and slightly moves depending on where the ring around spawns? I feel like every tutorial and video does the normal spin around when imo the corner strat is way easier
I’ve never really looked into the corner strat since I play the game like a normal bullet hell but if it works, then it works.
Yeah I do that
