I’ve been looking for something like this since I heard the King of the Hill version, and while it’s good, I’m convinced for it to be perfect it needs to be played on a guitar, banjo, fiddle, washboard, string bass that is really a keyboard, and of course, a jug that has stuff kept in it
For another fast version (although still quite amateur, acapella and incomplete) check movie "Planes, Traines and Automobiles" - main characters (John Candy and Steve Martin) sing it while driving a burnt car. Great movie and one of the best versions of this song in my opinion.
I was surprised when I saw Sammy Lind (1:23) and Caleb Klauder (1:35) from Foghorn String Band. They ARE professional musicians who have played all over the world with their wives - Nadine Landry - base (Sammy's wife) & Reeb Willms - guitar (Caleb's wife). Foghorn is a great band.
I would like to sit on a bluegrass field in Kentucky during a full moon night and drink a cool beer in German brewing style with this song - can there be anything nicer?
Platinum recording star? you can be tone deaf and talent free and be one. These are musicians, very good musicians. How many records you sell isn't how you judge a musician.

Poor Bobby
Dale's keyboard bass... 😂
It sounds weirdly good with Kahn's voice.
I know everyone sings this song like old people blue………….moon…………of….. well I get it
@@stephen1898Hank uses that jug to put weed killer in. He just didn't want Bobby to get sick on the fumes.
Love the uptempo version of this song. And wow, there were a lot of musicians on one stage!!!
You'd love ska if you love big band style stuff!
Been looking for the fast version for so long :’)
Did king of the hill bring you here? lol
@@kdizzle2468able yes sir! 😂

The closest we'll get to the best version, that being KotH's.

Relax people, these aren't Platinum recording stars, just good old fashioned jam artists who enjoy their music.
So should you !!!
Not enjoyable.

люблю цю пiсню.😘
I remember playing this with Charlie Daniels. I was better on the string base (which is actually a keyboard) I’d argue.
That was Connie Souphanousinphone.
Yes she was there before we played with Charlie
Damn good fiddler
Hold on… How do you know who I’ve played string bass (which is actually a keyboard) with? Are you with the government?…. I’m aware of you
Everyone be aware of this person
I know this video is 3-4 years old but is that Peter Cooper as the frontman? Love to know who the others are?
Also great job to everyone playing and singing :D
I love Monroe's original version and I really love bluegrass music too but I can't help thinking about Elvis whenever I hear a faster version.😊
