Zizou is a magician! he controls the other 21 players run and game when he has the ball with him!when he stops suddenly from that fast pace entire game stops and when he runs again then the players too move!! they say messi can dribble, give sublime passes, runs and ronaldo can score any kind of goal...header, freekick, in the box, outside it, physic but guess what ZZ does all that messi and CR7 does!! he does EVERYTHING in the bag of tricks present in football!

My favourite ever WC final. I told a few of my clueless friends before the WC that Zidane was the best in the world, they thought it was Ronaldo (despite having hardly seen Zidane play, bunch of bandwagon jumpers believing the Brazil/Ronaldo hype) ... they changed their mind about who was the best after this game :) Masterful performance by Zizou - even without the 2 goals.
johan cruijff haha i remember hating that one noname guy in france squad. Every time the ball went to him Brazil's attacking tempo dissolved, formation kinda left messy. I slightly made the player out of the rest by his long legs , like an octopus and his short hairstyle and his name which was similar to names we had in my country. After this game i learned more about that noname guy and here am i in love with him. Zidane was really phenomenal!

Poxa sou Vascaíno, Romário foi gênio na grande área. Oportunista nato, porém Zizou jogava de terno, jogador sem igual na história...Ambidestro. Ambos magníficos. É difícil falar, mas dos que eu vi o Zidade foi o melhor.

This is what i call a genius. Zidane was a rare type of player, the one that is always there on decesive moments. He may loose the game, but he never hide himself. There is no excuses, there is no "oh, but his teammates aint that great" or whatever.
Guys like Maradona, Romario, Zidane, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Van Basten etc showed their genius under any jersey, under any circumstances, with good and bad teammates by their side
Anyone who says that Messi's teammates aren't that great are just stupid. PL's best striker in the past 5 years is not good enough? UCL 2014 best winger isn't good enough? Serie A recordbreaker goalscorer isn't good enough? Lol

Thank you so much for posting Zidane's "touch" videos. It helps me prove the point I've been trying to make for a few years now and that is Zidane for all intents and purposes NEVER loses the ball. He was just too good and it's a tragedy he won't be playing anymore.

I remember this game very well, I told a few friends that france were a better team than brazil & I think they would win the final, & before the world cup began I told anyone that would listen that ronaldo was a bit overrated & zidane was the best player in the world.... that game was heaven for me :)

I remember getting up at 3 in the morning to watch this match...i was 9...and to this day, I can't find any other player who performed at this quality in the game of this magnitude...messi and ronaldo are football greats, but zidane basically won the world cup single handedly...and almost repeated it in 2006...i think zidane's performance in 2006 was much more a one man show...in 98, france had probably the best defence, but in 2006, they relied on zidane much more...and in this 30s, zidane showed again, his best...messi and ronaldo would never be able to do that, and not in 2 world cups...although i'm a manutd fan and a ronaldo fan...xavi and iniesta are great too, but for me, zizou will always be the best midfielder, the best playmaker and the true magician..

Perfect touch, vision, economy, smartness, movement, fitness, never gives the ball away, simple beautiful passing and touch, grace, elegance...you name it he has it all. Good dribbler....not the best ever...I'll give that to Messi probably.....
France at this time were unbeatable, and definitely were the most exciting team to watch. Oh man how i miss watching the magic of zidane on my TV screen :( hes my favourite player of all time

This tournament and the Euro 2000 that France won after this cemented Zidane's legacy as one of the top 5 ALL TIME. Zidane literally won this game almost BY HIMSELF. Scored 2 of the goals and had a part in almost everything else. He ripped Brazil apart again in 2006 as well.

1998, i was just a brazil bandwagon fan. Still like Brazil. Didnt know who Zidane was and I hated Zidane for scoring those goals. As I grew older, I understood what and who Zidane was. Watched him play against Spain, Brazil and Italy in 2006 WC. Will proudly tell me kids that he was the greatest soccer player i ever saw.
