I was waiting for your movie from the new Ötztal. I was wondering why it took you so long. Now I understand. It must have taken a lot of effort to craft it. The story, the music, the shots, the mighty river... everything combined makes a true masterpiece. Thanks a lot for this movie, it made my day!
Cheers mate, honestly I had this 90% done a while ago but music licensing and other workies took priority for a few weeks. Stoked it’s out and to hear that people like it!
What a brilliant film! A fantastic celebration of the magic times that many paddlers have had in there, as well as an exciting insight into the adventures that are yet to come. Top work!
Just right on! The last few minutes of this were just terrific. Also great sound choices, can't wait for the next video to drop. Keep it up and stay safe out there.
It's not often you get to pioneer a new section of whitewater on a familiar river. It must have been an incredible feeling. Out with the old; in with the new. I kayaked the Oetz in the early nineties and remember it as one of the best rivers I've ever had the privilege to run. I love the back story to this edit, the aerial shots showing just what a 100-year flood does to a valley, and the nostalgic finale. Thoroughly entertaining.
@@Senders Absolutely with the effort. Kudos for having excellent taste in music. I’m gonna need you to keep representing the best of the Brits. I’ll keep my ears peeled for Ride, Charlatans, and some Happy Mondays. In fact “Step On” would be a righteous edit backdrop!
I started white water kayaking last year. Your videos are very inspiring even for the beginners like me. And it's not only about beautiful sceneries, awesome tricks, great shots and great music choices and awesome editing, but also about the atmosphere and good vibes in your videos. They convey the feeling that you always have fun doing what you do. For me that's the most important thing. Thank you for your videos. Keep it up! 🙏
A little creek by my place was already flooding when it got a crazy rain storm, BOOM overnight the creek became new, whole rapids and even a drop just disappeared, was nice because it flushed out alot of wood, a river is alive and always changing with flows
I love seeing the old footage with old boats and gear and the 90 degree off set paddles! it all just seems crazy now with modern gear and boats watching them shred it up. Cant wait for another 20 years to look back on footage and think "what were we thinking", love how this sport continues to evolve
I've seen a few floods here in CO and one in MN that have violently changed the river and landscape. The earliest that I remember, and one that I visited while the town was still covered in silt, was the Lawn Lake flood. Miraculously, this lake damn failed during the day and while three people did die, it was seen and radioed in such that there was time for an evacuation. The other large one was in 2013 when Lyons flooded. That was the first one that changed two rivers that I had paddled. I also helped work a 500yr flood event in Minnesota in 2007. I was in the rising water, evacuating people as the water was still coming up. Whole houses were moved off their foundation and 6 people died. I understand the emotions you are going through. The remodeling force of mother nature is profound.
Good god! It even damaged the footbridge! It's really good to see all of you discovering new lines and working on new moves. What is crazy to me is that the water moved some pretty sizeable boulders. Gotta say, the colour of the water looks more like the Zam than the Oetz. Great edit, and really fine philosophy of the river... any river which a person might call "home" really. You are forced to make friends with it all over again, and in a whole different way. Thanks for sharing, Bren. It's shocking to see how much water went through there, and how much it has changed, but at the end of the day, it's still the Oetz. Just battered about a bit, just as we all are as we age.
Fantastic film Bren! I really enjoy this style of kayaking video. It incorporates more of the story line so we can get to know you better, what your thinking when your on the water but also I got such a appreciation for what efforts are being made to maintain access. Great job!
love you Bren. have been watching your videos for months since I started kayaking. you are my favourate and i have an orange scorch as well! I repost some of your videos on my Bilibili channel (a chinese website just like youtube). Just hope more ppl in China have chances to watch them and get interested in white water kayaking. If there is any problem or you want me to delete them please just let me know. Hope you all well and stay safe.
It’s really interesting to see how a climatic event can change so much of what you know. As an MTBer, pretty much the most a trail will change is with a fallen tree or a crumbling edge - not a wholesale change of the very fabric of the line! I found this really interesting. Looked so sick you being back in that (very different) valley! Awesome music choices too, as always… 👊😎❤️
Cheers mate, I find it wild that you guys go and carve your own lines out whereas we ride what nature gives us. I dream all the time of being to add kickers and other features to rapids!
Your editing skill just keeps improving, Bren! I really like the top view drone shots added! Amazing how much some of those rapids have changed. It's been some time since I was at the Oetz, but that looks like a lot of water coming through there during the flood. I can't help but wonder how many "100 year floods" we will experience in our lifetime.
Another awesome edit guys, it's sad to see that some of the river has changed and though it's a natural process, it's highly likely to be exacerbated by anthropomorphic climate change. Would be great if you could post a link to the free rivers fund in the description. Thanks and keep sending!
havent made it all the way through yet but you should do an addendum to this with side by sides of the changed sections.. if thats in the video later then cool and never mid, if not then I think it would be nice so some of us have a compaison.

Setting the standard not just for kayaking movies but all outdoor sports
Cheers my mate, trying hard!
This is a proper kayaking film.
Appreciate it mate! Thanks for watching!
More fun and action than just about any full length movie I've seen. AWSOME!

The Stone Roses! Perfect song selection! “I don’t need to sell my soul, it’s already in me! ❤❤❤
Thanks mate, took some effort to license that but I think it was well worth it.

Wild to see just how fast an entire river can change and to imagine how much force is going down it!
Genuinely one the best videos I’ve watched

What a cracking lad he was. And what a paddler. So, so sad.
Thanks a lot for the insight! Would you change any of the Class ratings for the sections? Btw why does the GoPro footage look like its 480p?
Umm no I wouldn’t change the ratings. Good question tho! Which GoPro footage?
Your editing skill just keeps improving, Bren! I really like the top view drone shots added!

Man, it seems like there's a LOT of wood still stuck in those rocks. Stay safe, dude.
23:26 where is it from? All the places from the end of the video I recognize, except this one. Where is it? Awesome video btw.
Hey do you guys ever go boating in Spain? I want to move there for the fall, winter and spring. Is there any part of Spain I can boat that whole time?
What is about the lower oetz, did I miss it? It is still the same?
Seems like you guys might have enough footage to do before and after videos that might be cool
Can you drop a link for the petition?
Sick Edit! Where is the waterfall at 23:26?
That’s on the Achsturze section of river!
thanks a lot! @@Senders
What’s the name of the song at 3:50?
