Jaire trying to come back is a huge positive sign for me. It shows he wants to compete and be a part of this team. Now it will fully come down to money but if he is willing to take a short term incentive laden contract or something that is tied to % of snaps played we would be dumb to let him walk. I understand he’s been injured. But a % of snaps contract or something similar is low risk high reward. We need a guy like him in this Hafley defense and he showed early in the year he’s still a stud CB
You’re wasting your time with any wishful thinking like that. Jaire is under contract for 2 more years. He isn’t getting any “new contract”, and he certainly isn’t going to agree to something that gives back a bunch of money tied to the percent of snaps he plays. This just doesn’t happen. The options are him taking a straight pay cut( basically never happens), a restructure which is simply kicking salary down the road to lessen the 2025 cap hit while still keeping him, trading him, or cutting him. The best option is to trade him, get something and save some money off his salary, followed by cutting him just to save the salary, followed by keeping him with a restructure and hoping and praying he returns to his old form and stays healthy and that really expensive contract actually pays off. Unfortunately the odds he plays like he did in 2020 and plays the entire year is what? 0.1%?
@Matt-yq3gq Anyone who comments that an option is to trade him immediately identifies themselves as being clueless. Trade him to who and for what? No other team is going to pick up that contract and they sure as heck aren't going to give up anything in return.
Bruh, he has 2 years yet, if he isn't healthy next year he is obviously getting traded, y'all need to calm down, im a ravens fan and will gladly take him since y'all don't want him, maybe take a look at the strength and conditioning coaches cuz packers seem to always be hurt.
People questioning Alexander. Some questions should be directed at the Packers medical staff. They made the diagnosis some 2+ months ago and determined it wasn't serious.
Cooper DeJean wouldve been my pick in the 1st round. Unfortunately we havent received a major contribution from our 1st round pick this year. That seems like a recurring theme with our first round picks.
Also unfortunately, there has been no contribution from R3 pick of RB MarShawn Lloyd either. A GB R2 pick (for AR I think) was LB Edgerrin Cooper; an awesome pick.
Agree with the Bakhtiari parallels. That is exactly what jumped into my mind immediately when I heard that he was having fluid drained. I seriously doubt that Packers management is going to go down that path again of waiting and hoping.
To be fair, Packers fans were all over social media post draft, wishing they’d traded up for Quinyon Mitchell. I saw enough people saying it that it isn’t Captain Hindsight. Maybe there wasn’t a trading partner, but man, that would have been nice right now.
I wanted Mitchell bad but its pretty silly to criticize the gm for not trading up. We dont know what talks may or may not have happened. For all we know, Gute couldve been trying and just couldnt get it done. Its not like Madden where you can entice any team to make any trade. The other team has to want to do it.
I think our safety injuries hurt us more than missing Jaire... we need to keep that back end solid as possible while we deal with our existing CBs who have been competent.... not great but not disasters... we can address much more in draft and free agency next year... it looks like we can be effective underneath enough with Williams and Z (guys name.. lol) next to Mckinney. Keep Bullard where he should be best used....
I dont have any ill will vs Jaire. Hes not faking injuries. His body just failed him. Hes missed 34 of the last 68 possible games and that is unlikely to change. They gotta take a long look at going in a different direction.
I was convinced he was done for the year, was getting extremely irritated they wouldn't call it, @ least we know now. Big ???? for the off season for Jaire looks like.
Our defense went toe to toe with the Vikings pass catchers without him. IF the offense improves their first half play against elite teams no game is out of reach yet.
Strikes me he was trying to work though the injury to get to the end of the season, and then get treatment. I'm no doctor, but it's different from Dave's case as he had a lot more body weight on that knee than Jaire. Hope he recovers and stays with the Pack but this is the NFL.
This team has spent premium draft capital on defense for 15 years and haven’t finished top ten once. Forget it. Love isn’t the answer either but people still think they can wish and talk that into existence.
Bruh what 😂 he has the same numbers as rodgers and was hurt the whole first half of the season, acting like the sky is falling is funny af, packers fans are buggin
At this point why is he still on the team? He has too many seasons missing too many games. Not only is it wasted salary cap, but also a wasted roster spot. This off season it's time to draft a couple of corners. Spend FA $ on pass rush since the Packers seem incapable of drafting that position. Cutting/trading JE post June 1 will free up $17.5M and a wasted roster spot.
i think we need an alpha receiver, apart from the obvious needs ( edge and corner), but because we have watson reed and doubs i guess that wont happen anytime soon
The 2024 draft class was strong at CB and weak at S. GB took three (3) S picks at R2,4 & 5 and a CB in R7 - huh? Philly picked Cooper DeJean in R2 at #40, a CB/S player and top 5 NFL rookie D candidate. Argh!
I'm sure Alexnder did everythin he could. Just think of the stop and go, quick changes in direction, accelerating at full speed. That all puts an enormous amount of stress on the knee. I would imagine. Jaire isn't a really big player to begin with. I don't beleive some who feel Jaire bailed and didn't want to play. I don't buy that for a minute. GPG!
It sucks, but he's been out since the Jacksonville game on October 27. This team has had to adjust to life without him already. I'm not saying the Packers are better without him -- they are not -- but they've already had to adjust to life without him. Him being out is not a huge shock.
@@TheDevilsKnot it’s not solely about just replacing performance in this single year, it’s about drafting a need for the future knowing tons of guys are likely gone including stokes jaire ballentine etc going into next year. and even with that haven’t most of the rookie CBs drafted early been pretty good? And then to double down on that, wouldn’t you rather have a pretty good early drafted CB going into year 2 developing into next year rather than gutting your CB room and only having Valentine Nixon and a rookie who’s hopefully drafted early?
