  • In this Tribe Tutorial, we are breaking down the key points on how you relaunch your kite surfing kite after it crashes on the water. This is a daunting part of learning to be a kitesurfer, and usually leads to panic, which leads to people rushing to try to get the kite back in the air which rarely works. The key point with this is to take your time, maintain as much resistance with the kite as you can to improve the line tension with the kite. This is the part of kite surfing people don't enjoy but it is something you're going to get plenty of time to practise at the beginning of your kitesurfing career. That said the saying goes, if you're not crashing you're not trying hard enough !

    Great video.
Can you do an intro video to where you are located, how to reach there, accommodation options etc. I checked it through your website, but I think it will be an useful addition. Thanks.

Your pulling all the front lines to flip the kite? Did I hear correctly? You pull the two "middle lines" to flip the kite?

Yes that is correct, when the kite has crashed with the trailing edge in the water. What you are trying to achive is to get the kite to lift out of the water from the leading edge side. Tugging on both the front lines (swimming backwards also helps while doing this), reduces the back line pressure, increases the pull on the front of the kite and If you are really lucky the kite will just take off and go straight up (the likley hood is a wing tip will catch and it will flip the kite over so the leading edge is floating).
This is also one of the reasons why its important to have the bar pushed out and out of your hands out reduce the pressure on the back lines and to ensure that if it does take off there is little to no power in the kite.
There is also a great way of launching the kite in super light winds using one front line and one back line but thats for another video!

@@Tribe-watersports thank you. Love the context you're giving. Just for consideration: when can we expect good/stable wind conditions in Watamu? 😃 Greetings from Fuerteventura
