      I am still debating installing aftermarket horns, but I have had several requests on how to access the factory horn to rework it to something else. I plan to do a video on that at the minimum

    Did those collars for the bar ends come with the heated grips? I just got my new bike back from the dealers. They waved the labor on the install as part of my bike purchase, and I noticed the bar ends are wobbly, and there are no collars. They also didn't glue the left grip, so it's looking like what seemed like a good deal is turning into a headache. Thanks

      Yes, the grip set came with the collars. If they didn't install those or glue the grip they really gipped you. Gluing the grip isn't a big deal but without the collars it's going to be loose. Maybe you can order just the collars. Partszilla has them. 92152-2663

    Does the added space taken up by the heater switch make the grip length compromised. I havce size large hands (large glove size)..just wondering if there is any discomfort with the space taken up by the switch collar?.Thx

      I have had no issues. I have large glove sized hands. I actually don't even notice a grip size difference but larger hands might.

    Does your left hand feel crowded with the reduced width due to the addition of the temp controller ?
    Thinking about fitting to my Z900RS and a little concerned that my gloved hand will be too tight .

      In regard to your question - I honestly didn't even notice if there was reduced space - so I guess that will hopefully answer your question. My hands fit comfortably. I actually forgot I had even installed them as I was riding - so unless you have really large hands (mine are a large US glove size, so there are larger) there won't be a noticeable difference

      @@nevillebroadbent1601 yea - it was $310 US here which did make me cringe, but I too have a soft spot for OEM. They work well tho, at least for the times I've used them. I haven't used them in deep cold parts of the year yet, that will be this winter.

    I have the same bike as yours. Can you please show me how you turn your clutch lever down? My both levers of clutch and break are too tall. i have to raise my finger to pull every time. There is a small box touching the handle bar, I can't adjust those levers to the position i want. Please let me know. Really appreciated.

    I own a 2020 model, planning to install. As opposed to the one in the kit, the right grip fitted on the bike has no cable at its base. Can you confirm there is no need for replacing it? In such case, where would we find the connector. Thanks in advance

      Could you explain what cable you are referring to? The right grip has electronic throttle and there is no wire on the grip. The heated grip has the cable for the heating element. I just want to make sure I understand your question so I can give you the right answer.

Indeed, it is the wire for the heating element that is not present in the throttle grip as fitted in the factory bike but comes in the replacement part in the OEM kit. Thus, how can it work without being replaced? How can I connect the throttle grip to the heating grip controller if I don't replace it?

      I'm sorry, I am getting confused. If you got the heated grip kit you replace both grips (17:55 in video for right grip). The wire on the right grip connects to the heat controller with the connector you run from the left side (28:22 in the video). Both grips MUST be replaced as the factory grip does not have any heating elements in it. The right grip comes as an assembly so the OEM grip doesn't need removed from the handle bar via air, etc. but it still must be replaced with the new heated grip

      Sorry for the misunderstanding! Maybe the text in 7:27 ("not need to remove the right hand grip...") leads to confusion as it may seem that nothing needs to be done with the throttle grip in those models. I understand the external part of the heated grip does need to be replaced... Thanks a million for clarification, and for your terrific channel.

      Oh - I see the confusion now. I meant that you don't need to take the actual grip off with air/etc not that it doesn't need replaced. I should have worded that better 🤦‍♂️

    your note says that for 2022. modes you do not have to remove the right grip? HOw does the heating element get installed (or is it pre-installed?) Thanking you in advance and great video!!!

      Someone else brought this up and I'm sorry I used bad wording. You have to remove the grip with the tube, not the rubber from the tube. In other words you don't need to use the air compressor or anything on the throttle.

    Thanks for the video. I have ninja 1000sx 2019 model. How can I lowering the handle bar to my bike full sporty look. Any suggestions ? Can i do that modification

      Honestly this is something I've never looked into or done. You would need some aftermarket kit that replaced the handle bar assembly pieces to a lower profile if such a kit even exists. Sorry I can't help on this one

    Just ran across your channel. Very recently purchased a 2023 1000SX for my wife. Just wanna say I've found your videos thorough and very informative. Definitely will be doing some of these mods. A few things I've noticed about the bike. 1, the throttle response is a little too free. Is there an adjustment? 2, my wife is 5' 7", do you recommend and is there a lowering link option? 3, i found the seat uncomfortable on longer rides. Is the OEM gel seat worth the purchase? Thx for the great videos on your channel.

      Glad you came across the channel and find that the videos will be helpful!
      I think your wife is going to love the bike once she gets the hang of it with her height. I'm 5'11" but with a 32" inseam and find that I'm on the soles of my feet more than flat footed - it is a tall bike. There are lowering link kits available, but I will get to that in a moment.
      To answer your questions:
      1. Since the throttle is 100% electronic, there are no adjustments - unless you invest quite a bit into a programmer and learn how to tune a motorcycle. With no cable there is no free play, etc. For general responsiveness it is all handled by the computer. I don't find it ever an issue though, so if you think there may be something wrong I would be more than willing to go further into it with you to see what the issue may be. The one thing to point out is these bikes have traction control and ride modes - this really adjusts how the bike responds. For example, when in rain mode you may feel like you're on a 400. Road mode is going to be the best all around for when you come across slippery spots such as gravel, etc, but will be much more responsive than rain mode. Sport mode is even better, but there is still traction control. If you go to rider mode and turn everything off it is very responsive and, frankly, can scare you if you aren't ready for it - it has a ton of power and will bring a wheel off the ground. So play with the riding modes and see if that takes care of the issue you are noticing.
      2. There are lowering link kits for the bike. I believe the 2023 is identical to the 2021 so this would work: www.loweringlinks.com/moto/kawasaki-ninja-1000sx-lowering-kit/ - however I haven't researched any lowering kit - there are multiple out there. Do the research before you make a purchase. Also - you need an adjustable kickstand so that is a purchase you would need to make. If you don't replace the kickstand the bike sits nearly upright and will easily fall over. You can get custom kick stands, but the easiest is adjustable that way you can set it where it is best and if you ever change anything it can be adjusted again. Now - I wanted to note one thing on lowering kits - they alter the physical properties of the bike and essentially change the handling and suspension of the bike. In other words, it will not operate the way Kawasaki designed the bike. You may find handling in corners is impacted. You have to be very careful when lowering these bikes, and make sure to practice and learn how to ride it after as it will not be as forgiving as it is from the factory. I fully understand the desire to flat foot or come close to it, but you need to take the handling into account.
      3. For seats, I am going to start off by saying I have not tried any aftermarket seats for this bike so have no hands on experience. Also, when it comes to seats, no person is the same and everyone finds different seats better or worse. From the forums I have been on for the past couple years, I'd say there is a 30% love of the Kawasaki Gel seat, and a 70% hate or dislike. Sergeant comes in at about 50/50. I know people who love the OEM seat. I actually find it the most comfortable out of all the bikes I've owned as far as coming from factory. Way better than my 06 zx-6r seat. I've ridden for a couple hours at a time on mine and don't get sore, but I can tell that for longer rides (3+ hours) I may have to start looking at options. I wish I had better info for you, but the truth is, even if I found a seat that I think is the best thing since sliced bread - it may be the complete opposite for you or your wife as everyone is designed different. I wish there was a way to "try before you buy" but there really isn't. I will say this, I have not heard anyone complain about a custom made seat. If you find can find a custom seat designer either in your travels or locally - you may be able to get the perfect seat designed to you. They literally design it for your body and if you find one on your travels they'll get all the info they need and you can send the seat to them when you get home (they reuse the plastic bottom piece that secures it to the bike) - some will even let you send it to them during off season if you store for the winter. It costs more, but from what I have heard, 100% worth it - so that is an option as well. That's actually what I plan to do once I get the time to start touring more.

One thing is she just has to get comfortable with her bike and become more confident. She started on a ninja 250, then a 400. Now she wanted more power with an upright stance. We decided on this bike. She has taken the MSF course and has come a long way. We are currently just trying to build her confidence and getting comfortable with her SX. I will ride some too, I ride a 2nd gen busa and also a vstar 1300 tourer. I'm not sure where you are at, but I rode bike home from Georgia to our home in Alabama. It was about a 2 1/2 hr ride. Had to stop and rest because my butt was hurting. Honestly, all bikes hurt my butt eventually. I have a saddleman on busa and it greatly improved comfort. I have a Ultimate on Vstar and it's very comfortable. Hey, thanks again for your channel and your response.

      Glad to hear you are doing your research and working to get her comfortable - that is the most important thing. I have seen short women riding big tall bikes where they have to lean all the way on one leg. I've even seen some where they jump off the bike and hold it while they are stopped. It is always doable. The nice thing about the 1000sx is it isn't overly tall, and it isn't very top heavy - so it makes it easier to balance on one leg.
      As for the butt hurting - I am pretty sure that happens to nearly everyone. So what I was always told, have read, and actually believe is that while riding, since it is so easy to become dehydrated, you should be stopping once per hour to hit the restroom - that tells you that you are staying hydrated enough while riding. Doing that gives a chance to stretch and rest the ol gluteus maximus. I had a GoldWing - my butt would hurt on that after an hour. Just one of the perks of riding a motorcycle lol.
      I live in PA. I rode the GoldWing down to the Tail of the Dragon taking Skyline and Blue Ridge Parkway for most of it. The journey could have been made in a day by car - but I did it in 3 on the bike because of taking the breaks. I don't know how people do the Iron Butt challenges. Looking forward to taking the 1000SX down there though. The GoldWing was fun, but I imagine the SX will be a complete blast.

      Yes, absolutely - except you have the previous gen. I don't know if you have electronic throttle, it may be cable driven, but you also have different style connectors. As a result, you need to get a different part number: 99994-0863

      I am not sure I translated correctly, but if you stated that it already comes with heated grips - Heated grips are a dealer installed option, they are not standard from factory for the 2021. I believe if you even order the bike with the touring package, which includes the panniers and all, they are installed by the dealer. I've pieced the touring package together on my 1000SX on my own.

      The most tedious part was routing the wires, the rest was pretty easy. Fitting larger hands and arms up inside the bike without removing a bunch of other components makes for a challenge that is for sure.
