The quality that will make this my dedicated EDC when I leave the house IS that it was designed for self defense. I know that doesn't concern you but I was so happy when I saw u recommend the Dlt exclusive version & said..I can have the best of both worlds (the qualities you always look for & the self defense aspect I needed). I'll definitely have other models and makes for collecting & use at home but this baby checked all the boxes for my martial arts background. Now I gotta find a gentleman knife and a "utility cutter" as well as the other categories you talk about...my journey, has begun (with the quality models)! Finally! Just so appreciative I found your Channel!
Best golden co knife made. I have the S90v cf version. It is in the permanent collection. Means it’s in the top 18 folders I’ve ever handled 😉. It’s a must have
Late to the party, but I went ahead and ordered one yesterday. Really no other reason than it just looks really cool! Love Spyderco knives, especially the ones made in USA Earth 😃
I like this knife for all the same reasons when I 1st the designer speak on it. Also after reviews from folks like yourself it drives it home even further.
This is one of the best models in the lineup in my opinion. Maybe not out of pure practicality but cool factor and flip for sure. I would love to see a maxamet version and some others as well. I have a lot of different spydercos now and a lot of other really nice knives and I find myself carrying this one probably more than any other. The black on black version just looks so great and is so well built.
I'm from Arkansas as well, and use to work in Kansas, funny thing is when he speaks of place in nowhere, that would be most of Kansas where I think he's actually from. If you've ever been, you're not missing much.
In England were not allowed to own a live round handgun it's 5yrs in prison stupid I know same as even flipper knives are illegal, we can own Rifles and Shotguns which I do, Yojimbo is good as is the Canis Cheers from the UK 🇬🇧
Black dlc coated blade was smooth out of the box. Almost drop shut and super fidgety. No wrist flick needed to close it. Honestly thought it was ugly as hell at first but it grew on me somehow and I bought it lol
I just got this in about 4 hours before watching this! The mailman came bearing gifts(!). I'm loving your videos in general and was glad on seeing this that you like it too. I got it purely for functionality as an EDC- able blade and am so impressed with the cutting ability and the action/fidget factor. Hopefully as long as I take care with the tip this will stand up as a perfectly viable option over time for a great, slicey EDC knife. Quick question- I know that you love the Manix 2, and I was wondering if the action on the lightweight Manix 2 is as good as the original g10 version, and also is it as comfortable in hand? I ask because the lightweight is so much cheaper. If I remember correctly you are not a big FRN fan- but if I'm ok with that texture? Have you done a video with a quick side by side comparison I can watch? Maybe you could do a series of videos comparing gen 1 and gen 2 of different knives? Just an idea. Anyway, keep up the great work and I look forward to more videos on the way..
If you're ok with FRN, I'd imagine you'll be happy with the LW version. Idk about the action. I would guess it'd be similar. I dont have any comparison videos but thats definitely a good idea for the future! Thanks!
Action is fine, but the big downside is that you can’t take it apart because it has rivets instead of screw. I’m sure you’ve already moved forward, but if not, go for the g10 version
I just picked up my first YOKIMBO 2 in your example (black G-10, satin blade) is it a cool knife as is?? I couldn't afforded the brown G-10 or any custom examples. I am a long time viewer and love all you content. I wish I could have some of your customer knives because they are beautiful!
Either mine (the tan 20CV Dlt exclusive) is stiff or my hands are too damn small lol. You flick that bad boy open fast! Mine won't open as fast as your doing it...except for a wrist flick lol...is it just that it has to be broken in or I need to practice? I'd be happy to send it your way if you'd like to see if u can get it to open more "smooth"..
How come you refuse to talk about self defense I have most of these knives and dont use them for work I work in an office. But I still collect. I like alot of what you have to say alot (im subscribed) im just wondering why you dont?
You should also check out the ronin 2. Basically the fixed blade version of the yo2. Wharncliffe blades are mainly designed for self defense. The blade really is not utility because of the very fine tip
Actually, wharncliffe blades were originally designed for woodworking (early 1800s.) So the utility design actually came first, and the self defense ideas only recently came about.
Wharncliffe blades are not "designed for self-defense", the shape just happens to work best for hand-to-hand combat because of the flat edge (no loss of edge exposure from slashing angles) and the direction of the point in slashing and puncturing. Michael Janich (the designer of the Yojimbo) explains this in various interviews.
@@miltonbates6425 nicely said 👏 , ill add it gives you yhe entire strength to the end of the tip, where if you curve up to a point the leaverage is reduced with your pressure
Nothing wrong with the design from a utility perspective. I actually like it myself. Michael Janich designed the knife for Spyderco and is a “knife fighting expert” that gives people training that could get them killed or imprisoned. Assuming the sales of these knives gives a partial profit to him I couldn’t buy it even though the design itself is admittedly quite nice.
Really? I’ve met him had a decent conversation. Seems to get more bad press bc he’s a figure head so people looking to bash it are gonna use him to do it. Think about it like that I’m telling you truth. Sure is he a little overkill but that’s his job. Your name states that you might be open to new ideals
He teaches with dead patterns that don’t work. I’m sure he’s a really nice guy and not everything he teaches is useless but the way to deal with a knife is not to get into a knife fight or do a series of blocking moves. It’s to get away or to isolate the knife arm and stop the other hand from supporting it. There’s a huge difference between the dead patterns and dangerous material he teaches and the good stuff you could get from Shivworks for example. Check out the video of Shivworks training with Warrior Poet Society to get an idea for what won’t get you carved like a Thansgiving turkey. Again, I’m sure he’s a good guy but he is teaching stuff that’s not going to work and he’s making money off of it and it could get people killed.

I never thought I'd EDC this knife, but, yeah that's what I'm doing now. And now I bought another (in M4). I really love the knife.
Great review! Yojimbo 2 is definitely one of my favorites. I'm all about the fidget factor and cool blade.

How do you like it? I’ve been looking to buy one they’re so damn cool
@@MysticalJ sorry took so long to reply. I like it a lot.. Very unique looking and fun to figit with. The blade comes scary sharp!
Hey bought one of these after you did an unboxing video of one.. not something I’ll ever carry around daily but I like it a lot!

Cruwear yohimbo at knife center right now
I thought the same, but it’s the most practical because of the blade shape. Stupid good knife
Well, the positive about the tip breaking is , that’s an easy fix on that blade shape.
Such a cool blade..great review
Lol I laughed so hard when I heard “weird cousin somewhere out in Arkansas” hahaha
Native Arkansas here.... we have MANY people like that 😂

I know it was designed to be a weapon, but I think it’s the greatest utility/construction work knife ever. I carry a 44 Bulldog Pug for defense!

My first knife higher end and I love it carry for self defese

I want a mini yojimbo! Something better for EDC
This knofe looks thicc but carries slim and is surprisingly lightweight!
Would of bought it if was in a left hand version like the pm2 good review

Yojimbo 2 vs para 3.... which would you recommend???
Para 3 all day, great all around utility knife..
Metric system, Europe watches your reviews too.
Favorite spyderco
Love mine. Very good overall knife. Carry and use mine as a utility knife with no armchair commando fantasies about self defense.
Lmaoooo
7 months later and self defense isn't a fantasy anymore.
Its still a fantasy for most.
Right, my carry gun is for that. In the highly unlikely scenario I should ever need it

Bought this one and black version Canis is good too
I just got one of these it's my second Spyderco I hated the first one yet I love this thing it won't be my last still a Benchmade guy though

Here is a review of a purely defensive knife. I shall now ignore it's defensive aspects and cut paper.
You know why? Because literally 99.99% of the people who buy it will use it for exactly that. Statistically, my review makes way more sense. Sit down.
I’ll never own one simply because Michael Janich is everything that’s wrong with the martial arts world.
I don't know who he is, but I'm not into self defense or martial arts at all. I just enjoy the design.

You don't care about self defense? So if attacked you won't defend yourself?
No, I'm saying I don't prioritize that when choosing my knife for the day. It's not a thought that goes through my mind.
