I'm with you man. If it wasn't for dubs many people probably wouldn't even watch anime. A perfect example is how a friend of mine loved fist of the north star. But once the episodes were only in Japanese,(manga stopped producing the dub series) he said he couldn't follow the story as well. And I could see why, the translation was fucking terrible. Too much engrish. If I wanted to solve word puzzles, I'd go watch wheel of fortune. Lol
Thank you! I thought I was the only one that felt this way. I know soo many people that claim "English bubs suck" but they don't know a lick of Japanese. I understand some english dubs aren't that good or crap but making it in english shouldn't be a big deal.
I watch Eng dub over Japanese dub. I speak fluent conversational Japanese as a second language. I have work at a studio in Japan this fall. One experiment I will do during my time in Japan is to ask random Japanese fans of anime to see what anime (voice acting) that is considered meh or bad. Then I will compare their opinions with the opinions of Western fans who do not speak or understand Japanese and think every Japan dub is just so perfect. I can't wait!
I agree people need to appreciate dubbed anime more it's in a language you understand and you understand the story more just like when you read the English manga and light novels, but I'll admit I do appreciate and watch dubbed series, but I do like the Japanese subs better not because the voices mind you but because I find it to be faster then the dub plus there are series that are only in Japanese currently that do not have a dub yet,but when the English vers of the manga/light novel for those series release I do buy them.
I'm one of those REALLY RARE people who prefer dub over sub. I get a ton of hate for liking Naruto Dub (if you didn't know, Naruto Dub and SAO Dub gets a ton of shit). I respect people's opinions and I do watch sub, it's just a tad too hard for me.
You're right, it is hard work 1. People complain saying that the lip doesn't sync from Japanese to English correctly, which is true, so they (ect Funimation) have to power through a dictionary to find words that can fit the translation and fit. 2. Voice acting is a uncomfortable thing because you look and feel like an idiot when you try to sound like something's going on, but all you're doing is screaming into a mic. Even so, it's hard work, a lot of Japanese voice actors suck. 3. The original Japanese dub is always ahead of the English, so there really is no reason to complain about it.
Personally, I prefer subs over dubs, and while I do have little nitpicks on some voices in dubs, they're mostly good and are getting better. The reason why dubs have to alter dialogue so much from the original is to both fit within the time that each character is speaking in the animation, and to translate the _meaning_ of the original across rather than stick to the original words. Recently, the dialogue in dubbed anime seems a lot more natural than it used to be, and it's getting better. I mean, could you just imagine someone saying in English something like 'Oh my, this fiend was just another small fry."
Whole heartedly agree. As much as I loved all of the 4Kidz dubs, people actually had a real reason for disliking their dubs, but only for story related reasons. But some shows like Kaleido Star, Sailor Moon (For Season 3), and Dangan Ronpa actually do have horrid voice acting that makes me have to recommend the subs for those anime. But it's true, you can't tell what's good or bad Japanese voice acting unless you're fluent with it. Heck, a lot of people say Bleach and Mew Mew Power have bad dubs, but to me the voices of Ichigo (Bleach) and Mark (Mew Mew) are too annoying and childish for me to care about the subs, even for story related reasons.
Dub haters are annoying. I like watching the anime. If I wanted to read I'd pick up the manga plus I hate pausing just to understand and read what's happening.
Great video! I've watched a few shows in Japanese dub, but I prefer english dub anime more. It's in a language I understand and there is a bunch of anime that is good in english dub. I'm not knocking anyone who prefers Japanese dub than english, but some people don't want to watch a show that is not in their native language. Enjoy what u like, but do ever wondered that if Japanese people dislike like their own dub and enjoy the english dub or just their own language in general in some anime shows?
What would you guys rather do? Deal with a dub hater or being on an 8 hour flight with a little kid screaming their lungs out and nobody’s doing anything but suffer from the screams?
Yeah I've had enough of these dub hating elitist purists. I watch both subs and dubs, though prefer the dubs more as it makes me understand it more than being distracted by the subtitles. These pests treat the dubs as if they're crimes against humanity. If anyone likes the subs more, that's fine, but the problem is them proclaiming how "true" they are and berating others for watching dubs. It is a matter of preference, not which is superior and inferior. If they don't like dubs at all, then just go away, stick to their subs and not berate others liking dubs. These sub elitist purists are a pest in the anime community as they ruin the fun and this sub vs dub debate, the hate towards dubs, ultimately, are pointless, baseless and stupid. This elitism needs to die.
after the Infamy that is Chuunibiyou English dub, I (used to) feel like I want to annihilate every single English dubs in anime, and that's including Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Black Lagoon, Haruhi Suzumiya (my personal favorite dub of all time), and countless favorable others but part of me slowly trying to figure out how was anime community without English dubs to introduce everyone to Anime in general, and Charlotte taught me how was dubbed anime was still relevant to today's generation whose generally dismiss most dubbed animes (including the cult classics as I've mentioned about in the first paragraph of this comment)
Evie Chin mostly because of those those wannabe Nazis/Stalinists/Kim-Il-Sungists/you name whatever radical ideologies fucktards you can think of that pushing off their goddamned egos thinking about Japanese voice acting is superior compared to the rest of the world
The problem is with which company dubs what. Animax VS USC (United States and Canada)-dubbed ones for instance. You have like at least 2 versions and then the former's dub is so sub par that you could say that it is only one step higher than a fandub. Unlike the latter's very own versions that really puts quality into the overall shows that they could go toe-to-toe or even surpass the Japanese version in terms of quality. I am not just with the fact that it is dubbed, I want to hear it with quality as I don't want to hear my favorite characters sound so off that they would otherwise not fit well. With anime usually dubbed in studios like the Ocean Group, Bang Zoom Belt (which includes NYAV Post LA and Studiopolis), FUNimation and Seraphim Digital (Sentai Filmworks), they are assured to give you what you want with their products and not just some poor quality dubs that would hurt badly in your ears. Of course this can be subjective but I would rather go with English dubs that are with quality than those that aren't. Just my two cents though.
Dub is better then Sub now before everybody is going crazy and going stupid but listen. English dub I like it I don’t know why so many English dub hater I watch ghost stories and Big O. Okay now for sub could somebody tell me I don’t understand Japanese yes is a subtitle on but I stop watch one piece ep 1000 Here why some people don’t like English dub Because 4kids. 4kids is my childhood and what I watch naruto Cartoon Network. One more thing let’s talk about Canada remember beyblade and bakugan the company called nelvana and they did a good job too. If I’m okay watching sub or dub so much leave me be.
I hate text.dude you got to my point about dubbed anime.it doesn't matter how good the dub is.your saying something Japanese has to be Japanese that's a stereotype.people complain out their ass.so stop discriminating Japanese animation for it culture.people in Japan don't like anime.they like Disney more than anime.we are the capital of Japanese anime.BTW most of the dubbed actors do american animation it can also be as bad as saying american animation has bad dubbing it does to.and Canadian animstion a whole other story.
The reason why people hate dub because they change so many thing that dosent need. Why they edit because they try to make childish version. Also they want tom make mor american... an that suck... they want to make they owen version screw the original version..
Well.. I have watched naruto in dub and sub but i prefer sub becouse in sub they express their feelings alot more. This is my opinion if u dont like ot just keep scrolling.
homie fox Oh yeah that’s bullshit the very first naruto had a lot of emotions I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about,But sounds like something a Weeaboo would say
I'd rather watch in my own language because ill end up spending more time reading than watching what's going on
Exactly if you want to read then read the manga
I'm with you man. If it wasn't for dubs many people probably wouldn't even watch anime. A perfect example is how a friend of mine loved fist of the north star. @@wudz8024 good luck with that

I agree with your statement. I'll watch subs if there is no dub. But if there's a dub, I'm watching it.
u post the words I would say
Although there are some dubs that are pretty bad. Elfen Lied's dub was very poor
Critical Gaming Channel same

those people are ruining the anime community.
ruining your "anime community"
pat deondre along with elitists and weeaboos
Yea, they're making it toxic
These type of videos need millions of views.

This video is awesome. 100% agree
Omg so true, I fucking hate whenever people say dubs are so cringy and horrible, they act like if they know Japanese. Subs can be horrible, too.
Both dubs are really good. You can tell that the haters are hating out of ignorance.
Both of those dub casts have so many of the best known voice actors in the business. Attack On Titan's another one that still gets way too much flack.
I don't think dubbers are that rare. We're just less vocal than dub haters.
MGSDude01 am I the only one that likes the attack on titan dub :(
txeea I don't like the SAO dubs, but I like the Naruto ones
I prefer sub over dub because it feels more authentic. If people wanna watch dubs because it's easier I understand clearly, everyone is different
You're right, it is hard work

These days, I tend to watch dubs. But if a great show isn't all avalible in dub like one piece, then I'll watch the sub.
Dub haters are annoying. I like watching the anime. If I wanted to read I'd pick up the manga plus I hate pausing just to understand and read what's happening.
Dude I be saying the same thing like how can you tell if the acting is on point when you don't even understand that they saying 🤣

because American children are too fucking stupid to handle mature content. Plus the soccer moms
+Rex the Japan fan nerd Wrong. They don't do that at all anymore. 4kids is dead. Dubs are 100% uncut these days.
BioZero216
Nope... for exemple Yugioh Arc V, Smile precure... both is edited and have cuts...
Rex the Japan fan nerd Those are the only exceptions these days. Look at any dub from Funi, Viz, Aniplex or Sentai. None of them cut a thing.

Nice try... but i don't see fake things...

I have watched naruto in dub and sub but i prefer sub becouse in sub they express their feelings alot more.
