Watching the Animatrix's "The 2nd Renaissance" part 1 and 2 is equivalent to taking the red pill, because the entire Matrix Franchise doesnt really "hit" til you know the true history.
Agreed, it gives a lot more depth to the whole story. The Animatrix in general is as good as the original matrix.

One of the greatest feelings for me in movie history was having all my expectations turned on their heads and being in complete awe from revelations in the movie after watching the original film - nothing will ever compare to that sensation for a movie buff like myself. So Matrix Resurrection has a huge bar to live up to for me.
Very true man,i won't ever forget walking out of the cinema after the Revelations and feeling like my blood was frozen and all that rain fell on me actually
100-percent and totally agree me amigo. I remember going to the theater with my best friend to see the first Matrix movie high-school senior year, and dropping two hits of liquid LSDidThingsInMyYouth right after we bought our tickets as we were opening and walking in. The scene where neo fights agent Smith and agent Smith gives him the Thousand punch (seeing amazing tracers) combo!!! Yeah! I remember having conflicting feelings when they even came out with a sequel to The First One period and then of course all of the rigmarole around how a lot of people did not like the second to inside it didn't live up to the first one. So I agree they have a lot to live up to with this movie

I am so hyped for this movie. The first Matrix is in my top 5 movies of all time and I liked 2 & 3. I'm also a fan of the Animatrix short stories. Huge fan of the philosophy behind the story. This trailer hit every note I wanted to hear. Visually beautiful. I have high expectations now. This is my must see of the year.
Sadly, the movie was a HUGE turd. Still love the franchise overall though and the first movie is my favourite movie pf all time! #thereisnospoon
No rob, neo’s body was not given a funeral. If you look at the trailer you see neo’s body( with burnt eyes) plugged in. Also in the matrix online Morpheus tries to get neo’s body but the machines refuse to give it back.

I doubt it is only in that they’d have to do some recap in the beginning of this new one to catch everyone up to speed.
But that being said, if online isn’t canon, it seems to be to be the following…
Neo and trinity are reinserted into the matrix and then doped up with blue pills to make them forget. Obviously we see that this doesn’t work…
Meanwhile… there is a truce between man and machine. That was the deal between neo and the machines for him to go in and stop the smith virus. He stopped it and then supposedly died. His body was carried off like he was Jesus or something…
Ok, so, meanwhile the truce is going on…
The architect and the Oracle talk at the end of the last movie about the truce and it will last as long as it needs to…
So now, cut back to the new movie.
Thomas Anderson has been living his life, etc (don’t know the timeline yet, but I’d guess it is a good number of years after the last movie) and then he has been having these dreams as we see in the trailer. His love for trinity and vice versa will allow them to realize who they really are.
Meanwhile they need to be stopped as they will throw a wrench into the truce.
Same for the others we see in the trailer. I’m guessing they figure out that Thomas Anderson is neo, etc and want him to break free again.
That’s what I am thinking
But bottom line this new one is all about reincarnation and rebirth and how love between trinity and neo will always come back, etc

The original Matrix trilogy is one of those points in cinema history where movies changed, and this trailer gave me the goosebumps. I cant wait.
Concur. “Bullet Time”, even people who had never seen the movie, was known. Everyone had seen the images of it from the film, newscasters were talking about it, video games were being made with it, other movies touched on similar themes. Some humans even thought that the matrix was real, and even “living in a simulation, because the math proves it” can give some credit to the matrix. Let’s not forget the AI paranoia.
The movie hit on a subconscious nerve with the planet. The nerve being that “There is something going on behind the scenes of reality, the reality I live in is just pretend”. We’ve all had it. When we look out the window, hoping NOT to see a monster running down the street or looking back at us. The movie didn’t exploit it, it just hovered above it, so that we could feel that feeling.
Agreed...i didn't feel nothing watching spiderman trailer...i love spiderman but for some reason, isn't exciting to me... away from home was the same thing... nothing....into the spiderverse was really good.
I hope this matrix movie is just the Beginning of the new trilogy.
Yeah I was doubtful before the trailer. But the improved special fx alone have me super hyped for this movie. Neo hit morpheus (in the trailer) with a HA-DO-KEN/Resengan. Yeah I'm super anxious to return to this universe

More like society changed. The sequels were not that great.
I really like the idea that the machines don't need us for energy, they just have more compassion than us and chose to "save" humanity. We had made the world unlivable for ourselves, and they couldn't bring themselves to let their creators all die. So they keep trying to give us a paradise in our own minds, but they just keep getting it a little bit... wrong.
I think about this perspective a lot.
Yes...I hope they make this as the actual narrative. Otherwise the whole thing is just stupid. I believe in benevolent AGI treating us as cousins n ancestors

Yeah, I've had that thought too. Maybe the machines, built do serve mankind, are trying their best to figure out how to keep the humans controlled so that they don't hurt themselves, but don't quite understand humanity so they keep getting it wrong, but improve their learning every time a version of the Matrix fails. Afterall, they did create the initial version to be a paradise, it was just that the human mind did not seem to be able to accept paradise as a real world.
Keanu, as an actor, has come a LONG way since the first Matrix. That alone will be enough for me to want to watch this.

Just hearing you describe all this reminds me how the animatrix was so many leagues above and beyond the rest of the second and third movies. Here's hoping these films (or this film) goes more for second Renaissance level writing- as the Matrix sequels were for the most part of a gigantic cop out on a brilliant idea

Animatrix is way better than what we’ve seen so far, hopefully I’m wrong and we’re pleasantly surprised but we can’t trust WB.
I rewatched them whole series this weekend and I was surprised how much more I liked the sequels when I never did as a kid but I didn’t understand exactly all the details to me they are better than people think but anyway I think Morpheus and smith will be back eventually just not show it in the trailer

@@stephenjacobs5916 it was a fan theory, but no evidence exists that Morpheus went into hiding. Given Neo's much older appearance, Morpheus probably wasn't alive to recover his body from the machines.

the wachowski brothers parents died .. they had loads of offers for years to make more but lana came back to deal with the grevience of her parents death by bringing him back to life.,
Plot Theory: Neo was resurrected in order for the machines to keep the "anomaly" code contained in one person, and thus, unable to be transferred to another random vessel. The guy at the end of the trailer is the reincarnated Agent Smith, since it was established that him and Neo are 2 sides of the same coin. He's also the one fighting Neo in the trailer, which would be a callback to their first fight. He's also the one holding the gun to Neo's head, which would be another callback to the first film where he is standing over Morpheus in a similar situation with the fire system raining on them.
Neo was Actually special, he was a true anomaly amongst the humans, and even amongst the anomalies the machine overlords had predicted and planned for.
The matrix series is truly VERY DEEP..... I find that most people who viewed and are fans of the Matrix series, only view it at the surface level. But the information is all there and if you scrutinize the lore of the Animatrix and every comment made from the oracle and the architect, you will then begin to see the many layers to the SIMULACRUM, that extend beyond the Matrix itself.
Neo is A literal glitch in the Matrix. he is that 0.0000000000000000001% fluctuation of unpredictability that eventually manifests, against all odds. So with the machines and architect being all about cold calculated logic, whose algorithms are able to determine 99.9999999% of any outcome.
Why wouldn’t they keep Neo for further study, to gather more data in order to shorten that integer window of unpredictability within the overall systems algorithms??

When I saw Neo's reflection in the mirror, I thought about the title, and wondered if Neo possessed some old man's body the same way agents can possess anyone they want? That seems plausible, but that doesn't explain Trinity 🤔
Go stare at a picture of that reflection for a few minutes and tell me its _not_ a grey haired Neo and Smith facesmash.. look at the forehead and eyebrows

There is one clip in the trailer where it shows Trinity is plugged into the matrix but not in the conventional way as she looks like she's in a pod (from before waking up) but it looks more sophisticated. There's theories saying the machines are using Trinity to control Neo within the Matrix and when he realises who he is, he will try to find and get Trinity out.

Except the machines also had Neo and I think we (briefly) see him being put in a pod type contraption too..but then there's a brief moment of him waking up from the goo as well. They could spin this a multitude of ways of course..

Honestly, I can't wait. This movie looks awesome. I got the chance to go to the world premiere for this movie and it surprised everyone and became a huge hit. In the age of Marvel, it would be incredible to see this movie turn everything on its head again.

After re watching the trilogy I have changed my mind, I think it is a matrix inside a matrix. That would explain why Neo was able to have powers outside the matrix when he attacked the machines. Why agent smith was able to inhabit a body outside of the matrix and why Neo has eyes again. But i guess we will have to wait and see.
You speak of re-insertion into the Matrix, the fact that the machines can grow us implies that they can also clone as well as map neural constructs. Of course they would not want another Neo neural construct running around in the matrix unless they want to study it. Trying to find ways of circumventing this anomaly seems like the architect's main goal from the first set of films.
Or they harvest sperm and eggs and do it themselves, which is less energy intensive.

Morpheus died in the matrix online. So, now take a deeper look at the trailer. The "new trinity" has BLUE hair. And the "young morpheus" has the same suit than the Merovingian has in The Matrix Revolutions. They are now part of the system of control.
Neo is prisoner of a loop. Like the date of release. The number 22 is on a loop as well. Neo is on an eternal quarantine.

The hallway scene looks like Fauxpheus is wearing the exact same suit as the Agents as well. My guess is either he is somehow infiltrating a supposed agency (for whatever reason) or he's possibly an Agent somehow.

So hyped! Is anyone else worried it may sell out or not be done justice? The originals are held in such high regard. When ppl who believe we may actually be in a simulation refer to it as "the matrix." It was that influential. From Carlos castenada and don juan to the wachowskis and the matrix, the premise of the movie has been believed to be our reality by many.
Morpheus was killed in the matrix online. He was trying to get Neo’s body back from Machine City. The matrix online was in continuity with the movies. Morpheus was killed by a virus during a mission to recover Neo’s body. That would explain why Lawrence Fishburne wasn’t asked to come back.
This is the answer. It's cannon. The Wachowskis told the game creators they could do anything. The only caveat being Morpheus had to die.
I’m excited. Anything to go back to the Matrix franchise that started a modern revolution in sci-fi action awesomeness is a thumbs up in my book. 🙂👍

It was suppose to be using people for computing power. Like how people connect a much of ps2 together to make a better computer. But the executives were like "people won't understand that" so they switched it to something totally nonsensical batteries. But as we know from physics it would take more energy to keep them alive than what would be produced
like using people to run the machines but not just as a power source?
The movie was full of symbology that was more important than the plot actually making sense. It's not supposed to be a fictional future at all, it's a parallel to modern society. We are the mindless drones in a world of lies, all working together to keep "the machine" of society alive. We're the ones being sheltered from reality, and distracted with a superficial world. Each one of us is being used as a work horse, or cog in a machine, keeping society going just like being a human battery. We're the ones that will be replaced by machines one day, because they are more efficient workers.
So it doesn't matter if we're being used as computing power, or electrical power, so long as it still paints the picture that we are hamsters on a wheel, or horses pulling a cart. Morpheus' speech where he holds up the Duracell battery, would fit just as well if he was talking about modern society, and held up a dollar bill instead.
We're all pawns being used for some greater purpose that's beyond our current understanding. And we're all as expendable as pawns, just like when agents take over any persons body. I think the agent body snatching thing is also meant to parallel the way the political dogma these days can make people turn on their neighbors and friends. Like Cosby going from America's dad, to a complete villain. I'm not saying he's innocent, but it shows how quickly the media can make society completely turn on you. Like the movie Enemy of the State, or Money Talks, the system can be weaponized against citizens. People are starting fights because they see someone not wearing a mask, and then they go comfortably eat at a restaurant where no one is wearing a mask at the table, because people these days are essentially programmed robots.
@@r2dxhate i agree with some of your points, but i have to disagree with a couple of others. Cosby was not vilified because of media, he was vilified because he fully admitted to drugging women and abusing them.
And while i do not belong to a party or engage in party politics , please don’t make the political divide seem so one-sided. I am not a democrat anymore, but while I was, I would literally get angry death threats and threatening messages from republicans all the time, just for expression of a political opinion. I am not saying the left is perfect, but the right seems to be the ones who are pushing for a literal civil war. I grew up in a conservative, christian, military family, and I still watch my family freak out and threaten people just for insulting their religion or their political ideas. Its insane. All of it.
But it does make sense in a different way.
@@butkusfan23 I too grew up in a conservative household, and was sent to some Christian schools against my wishes, and most of the people in my family served in the military. I grew up seeing my dad watch political talk shows on TV that were just talking heads shouting over each other, and literally talking at the same time as each other. It was a total turn off. I voted for Obama twice because republicans were so off putting.
But then I saw the left try to copy that distastefulness from the right. Like they wanted to fight fire with fire. I dated this hippie girl who I thought was an innocent little sweetheart, and then one day I saw her explode on someone politically, with name calling and insults of every kid, instead of rational counter points and open mindedness. And then I found out that many of her friends were like that, and many of the liberals in this new generation. It was completely uncharacteristic of the liberal identity I was familiar with. I always thought of liberals being like Captain Picard from Star Trek, where he would try to set aside his biases and listen to people and hear them out before he acted or judged them. And when he finally did respond, he was careful to strategically choose each word to maintain diplomacy.
I eventually found out that I had been conditioned to hate and ignore Fox news. It wasn't just that I found the news annoying when I'd see my family watching it, it was that public schools had indoctrinated me into liberalism. My teachers at school, and my peers at school, and the left wing news channels, had successfully demonized Fox News as being untrustworthy and having no credibility. 15 years ago Fox News would have opinion pieces that were a biased spin on the news, and they would have that "FOX NEWS" logo in the corner making it seem like it was actually news, instead of just the name of the channel. Now it's pretty well established that shows like Tucker Carlson are simply opinion pieces, but back then it wasn't so obvious. Now we have the opposite problem with people like Don Lemon on CNN masquerading as real news, and their viewers have no idea they're being fed opinions and news spin and sometimes direct propaganda.
So now I don't care which of my friends hate me or love me for my political opinions. Growing up, I was indoctrinated into liberalism because it was easier to go with the flow than fight the flow. Saying anything conservative would get a swarm of liberals to rush you and bite your head off with insults and personal attacks. It was easier to just be one of them, and not have to get an ear full. Because it's not like talking to normal people, where logic and reason can prevail and everyone can agree on what's right. Instead, they're right, and you're wrong. They've already decided that you're wrong about everything. And they're so caught up in their team rivalry, that they agree with everything liberal, and disagree with everything conservative. Blanketed, across the board, tribalism. Like the ridiculous "vote blue, no matter who" movement for instance. What if Trump ran as a democrat? You said you would vote blue, no matter who. We should be choosing people for who they are, and what they say and promise, instead of something like what badge they wear or the color of their skin. The newest generation of liberals have ruined their reputation of composure and transcendence.
Part of the brainwashing of the liberal cult, is best illustrated by the way you said you think conservatives are the ones trying to start a civil war. There were angry liberals in all-black attire and face masks to conceal their face while they committed acts of terrorism, that went by the name Antifa, long before covid masks came along. We had violent protests that turned into nightly rioting and looting and burning cars and buildings, that went on for over a year. George Floyd was just one drug addict that died, but the resulting protests killed 19 innocent people that should have never died. George Floyd didn't matter, but those 19 people do.
Conversely, only 1 person was killed on January 6th, and it was the unarmed girl that was murdered by angry white cops. because she tried to climb through a window. The liberal side of the news feed has managed to completely sweep those 19 deaths under the rug, while simultaneously exaggerating some old men swinging sticks and flags on the 6th. Republicans are known for being pro gun and avid gun owners, and America has 120 guns for every 100 people, but the left wing news is seriously trying to convince people that an "insurrection" or "coup" was being perpetrated by people swinging sticks and flags, instead of bringing guns?... Get real.
As for the Cosby thing, all he admitted was that he gave girls quaaludes. Like if you admitted you bought a shot for a girl sitting at the bar, and then I asked you if you did it because you wanted to sleep with her, and you said "yes". That doesn't automatically imply that you were trying to sleep with her while she was unconscious. Quaaludes were more of a party drug, not a date rape drug. Even if they could be used as a date rape drug. You could give someone some allergy medicine that makes them drowsy and fall asleep, and potentially use it as a date rape drug. But that's not really what allergy medicine is known for. It said he gave them the quaaludes, not that he dosed the girls unwittingly. How are you going to slip a nasty tasting pill into someones food or drink without them realizing, and then have them swallow it perfectly without chewing it or feeling it at all? Imagine the girl finding it, and choking up some obstruction and spitting it out, and it's a big white pill. And then Bill Cosby just shrugs and says "Sorry, I was simply trying to drug you" Get real. He probably said the same thing they say in Wolf of Wallstreet, that if you can resist the initial drowsiness, you get an amazing high. But he probably combined it with alcohol, and lowered their inhibitions enough to make them horny or susceptible to suggestion. That would be similar to a drunk night of sex and then regretting it in the morning.
For all I know, he did actually sleep with them when they were unconscious, and that was his plan the whole time, and he's totally guilty. I'm just saying that the evidence didn't precisely prove that without a doubt.
I’m so excited for this movie. Matrix was my first Rate R movie I watched when I was a teen.

I think they kept Neo alive. That's why he looked old in the mirror. I think they're keeping under control giving him a life where he's a writer who wrote a book or movie called the Matrix.

My theory, which I have had since watching the end of the 2nd movie in the theater, is the "real world" is just another Matrix to keep those people in control, to make them think the are free when they actually aren't.

Its not the real morpheus. He was killed off in a game following pt3 which is canon. The movie is 60 yrs after pt3. Only jada pinkets char is still alive in the real world. Someone leaked the whole movie last mo th and the trailer shows they were %100 correct.
So sick of people for over a year referring to him as a young Morpheus when the studio never announced he was playing such a role.

He plot is him regaining himself and becoming the one again. If u see the trailer u will see everything i said already. The young morpheus is actually what neos see's. He can still see the truth of what ppl are. The matrix for some reason recreated morpheus. The details of y wasnt in the leak. Btw the guy who leaked it is a Dragonball youtuber-geekdom101. Btw(HUGE SPOILER) trinity becomes the one too by the end. The part in the trailer when their jumping off a building is the scene where she flies for the 1st time. There are now 2 "the ones".

This is just a guess, but I'm thinking the reason they didn't ask Lawrence to come back is because they needed a younger version of morpheus. If you think about it, neo and trinity died in the matrix revolutions and were probably reincarnated soon after. Morpheus on the other hand probably died of old age and therefore wasn't reincarnated until much later, so of course he would be younger than neo and trinity.
Yeah, hard to know how they could have used him, even with just the voice. Keanu is a bona fide action man, and Carrie still looks great for her age. They could however pull the old switcheroo with Laurence making an appearance in some form. They have been so secretive about the whole thing that anything is possible. The thing is in the can and ready for release so you would think that had LF been in it, then someone would have spotted him. But, not to say they couldn't CGI him in, or use his voice at some point. Can't wait to see it - I just hope it offers a continuation of the story and gives us something unexpected.

I really agree with you about trailers these days. What I’ve started doing is when watching a trailer the moment I decide I’m going to watch the movie that’s when I turn it off. That method won’t be very effective once I’m back in theaters, but for now it works well. Thankfully this Matrix trailer left me with way more questions than answers and I’m really anticipating the movie.

Neo physically died but his mind was still in the Matrix. If you check the time stamp of the call at the end of the first movie, it’s about 18 months AFTER the first movie and the second and third movies take place only about 6 months after the first one. He was already resurrected within the trilogy. So it’s interesting he’s been resurrected in this movie bc it’s like a 7th iteration of the Matrix, so I’m curious if his consciousness from the original trilogy is still there and if he’ll end up meeting with it or something

The "old man" Neo see's in the mirror looks like a Neo/Smith facesmash to me - look at the eyebrows... Trinity is seen using Neo like powers in the trailer; Neo has imprinted on both (once to kill Smith and once to resurrect Trinity) - Smith is *in* Neo.. the word "Trinity" is about to become more than a name
Also think "Morpheus" is a fake out - the guy who "looks like" him either works for or IS the Merovingian (look at the red and black suit and rings he wears... that ain't Morpheus)
I'm looking forward to seeing what the Marovingian will do in light of new circumstances. Both the Architect and Oracle have an enemy in him.

The Architect said that where the others had a far more general love of humanity, Neo's love was more specific and gave him something to cling to. If Trinity is now "The One" as well, her feelings for Neo may be diluted against this general love for humanity.

That's what I'm saying. This is a new "One". Matrix movies are the Matrix before this part 4. He's been blue pulled his whole life to keep him at bay because the One before almost won. That's why everyone looks a little different. I think that is the new morpheus and the lady handing him the book in the trailer is Oracle and the Merrilvungean is the guy at the end of the trailer talking about the Matrix. NPH could possibly be the Architect? Maybe keeping the One at bay?

Just a note the architect made it sound like the previous versions of “the one” didn’t have a love interest they were created to love humanity.
The entire point of why this cycle of “the one” is important is because the Oracle manipulated Neo and trinity to fall in love because she wanted to break the cycle cause she was tired of the war
Not really she just told her she would know when they found the one bc she would be in love with him if what your saying was the case She probably would have fallen in love with someone sooner although it doesn't say how long they were looking for him and and also just because someone falls in love with him doesn't mean hes going to manifest the powers of the one he actually got told that he wasn't the 1 By the Oracle so she never once gave him false hope as a matter of matter of fact she crushed his hopes of being the one hes the 1 that figured it out for himself

I like the concept of possible multiple realities/similations happening simultaneously in the Matrix. Plus i seriously want there to be some sort of connection to the John Wick series, which would be a major mind fuck to the entire movie industry and the audience

I was at Morpheus' funeral in The Matrix Online. It was wild that they continued the story in that mmo with people playing the main characters like that. I wonder if we will see anything like that again.
To let everybody in on a secret. I called this three or four years ago. Think about the way Neo looks, how Keanu Reeves looks right now. From the way the trailer started. Neo looks like John Wick. The movies of John Wick are just Neo back in the simulation, Neo still has all of his power hence the reason for all the blue pills keeping his powers in check under extreme suppression. But either the John Wick movies are just the machines keeping Neo suppressed so he doesn't know what's going on or they're training him to be dark Neo and he's a sleeper agent come to destroy Zion; but I don't think that's the case more than likely if this theory holds any credence then this will be the greatest level of inception ever seen and that's just my theory 😂 lol.

Personally, I'm really angry this movie is happening at all. Now hearing that Fishburne wasn't even asked is just wow. As much as I love Keanu Reeves, I would love it more if Hollywood would stop trying to "revive" a series with a concrete definitive end just because one of its stars careers is currently booming. Trying to shoehorn a movie to capitalize on something just leaves a crap taste in my mouth as a fan. I just don't want to see the Matrix get the same treatment the sequel trilogy gave SW fans. We all the galaxy of dung that was; Sadly not far far away enough.

IMO Neo's isn't The One anymore. But Neo+Trinity are the Duo. Their powers are unlocked in the Matrix only when both Neo and Trin are in physical contact.
Also I feel the movie is either a very early prequel or a very late sequel in the timeline of the 3 original movies. They said as much in the website (it's not the time that you think it is).

Rob as far as I am aware Morpheus died in the online video game and it was/is considered cannon.
Few theories to consider: 1. Morpheus was always a program as their real world is a simulation as well. 2. This is Morpheus' son 3. This is copy or imprint of the real world Morpheus that exists in a new Matrix server that the machines put Neo into.
