  • Welcome to the small Dutch town of Elburg.
The city is only 450 long x 350 meters wide.
The city of Elburg was moved in the late 14th century. After the construction of the new town, the old church building still stood on the old site outside the new town walls. Only in 1397 the bishop gave his approval to rebuild the present Great or St. Nicholas Church within the new town.
After the closure of the Zuiderzee (after which it became a lake and partially filled with land), fishing also disappeared.
    Recommended to visit!
