Kyoto University Dorm Tour - Shugakuin International House // Tour Asrama Kyoto University

Shugakuin International House is located in Shugakuin, very near from Shugakuin Station. It has three types of room, single room, couple room, and family room.
Previewed in this video is a couple room. It consists of four main rooms, bathroom, dining room and kitchen, bedroom, and porch for laundry. You can do your own laundry in your room.
This video was taken right before we moved from Shugakuin, so most of the utilities in this video are the ones that were provided by Shugakuin Int. House.
Monthly fee in 2016 is ¥ 29,000 (electricity is not included), but you don't have to pay for water.
Shugakuin Int. House is very comfortable and not too expensive, that's why it is very popular and a bit hard to get.

I was granted the MEXT scholarship for Kyoto University and will be arriving in Japan in April. Could you tell me more about the housing application? How difficult is it to get it? Should I apply for it now?

My pleasure :) congratulation for your scholarship! In my case, I got the detail information for housing application from my sensei and his staff (the who responsible for administrative matters in my lab). However, all of the detail information are also available in Kyoto university website. The keywords probably: Kyoto university international housing. It is quite competitive to get the international housing, I suggest you to discuss with your sensei if you want to apply for international housing. The sooner the better to tell them and apply. You will be asked to select 3 options for your housing (each in different area).

Halo mbak, kalo suara kereta kedengaran tapi tidak terlalu keras sih, masih lebih jelas suara ambulan yang sering wara-wiri di Kyoto. Kalau untuk ketentuan siapa yang bisa apply couple room, baiknya hubungi KU langsung, karena saya juga kurang tau, mungkin saja bisa. Kemarin ada tetangga yang bawa anak kecil (kurang tau umur brp tapi sepertinya dibawah 3 tahun juga) bisa masuk ke couple room, mereka tingga bertiga (suami ibu anak). Sampai ketemu di Kyoto :)
