    Thanks for your video!! It has low start up watts at 1400, do you know what it needs otherwise?

    Thanks for sharing, how did the draining set up work, my dealer told me this AC won’t drain with the cups that go to the wheel well and would have to drain off the roof.

      I think it would work fine with that set-up, though I need to check the factory drain tube cause it may be clogged.

      I installed mine with the cups to hook it into the original drain tube and it doesn't work. It just drains off the roof.

    Hi there is your airstream an 86? I’m loving this vid, real helpful and thank you in advance. Was the conversion hard? I have some questions if you wouldn’t mind-

      Sorry, I don't know how I missed your question. Yeah, mine is an 86. Putting in a new unit was surprisingly simple since it's already set up for an AC. Feel free to ask whatever else if you still are interested.

    Also any tips on installation would be great , I have a Coleman that appears to be original and can’t get it to heat or cool and I’m wondering If an upgrade to the quieter one would be ok or is it a nightmare to change out ? Thanks

      Honestly, I just watched a few youtube videos on installing a new AC and it was pretty simple. The worst part is getting the unit on the roof. But I'm happy to answer any questions I can.

    How did you handle the controls for the furnance?

      Our furnace has its own thermostat that is separate from the AC.

    I would like to know how you installed a dedicated circuit for tlhe rear AC unit. I just ran all the wiring, but it was a bitch to install. Will be ordering a Rec Pro Monday because of your video. Also, did you have a two way switch for the forward AC and microwave?

    • @RevRunRegan
      @RevRunRegan  2 роки тому

      I didn't install a breaker, just the plug. I ran mine to the old phone jack on my Airstream. I figured the pedestal is always a breaker so I didn't need my own. I can show that in a video sometime soon. I do have a 2 way switch for microwave and AC in the camper.

    i'm glad you're satisfied with your Houghton but we have had a nightmare experience with this company. The first unit was installed and did not cool our class B van at all. The compressor would come on for just 90 seconds then cycle off in fan mode for 3 minutes, during which time the van would start warming up again. After days of testing settings, etc, I filed a warranty claim which RecPro graciously honored. Round two: replacement arrives and again we had it professionally installed and tested and the same exact failure occurred. Exactly 90 seconds on, 3 minutes off and no way to reprogram this cycle. I would not recommend Houghton to anyone. We are now looking at switching to a Coleman Mach 10 NDQ whenever we can afford one.

    Thanks for sharing. We have a 2006 25' Airstream (with an obnoxiously loud AC) and have been contemplating the Houghton. Compared to the Houghton 15k BTU, the low profile 13.5 is supposed to be 8-10db quieter, so we're wondering which to purchase. Are you pleased with the sound quality on the 15k?

    • @RevRunRegan
      @RevRunRegan  2 роки тому +1

      The negative of the 13.5btu is that it doesn't have the heat pump. And for some reason, when I looked at that one, it required a $75 extra fee for residential delivery, while the 15k didn't.

    • @kathymintexas1556
      @kathymintexas1556 2 роки тому

      @@RevRunRegan I didn't notice that there wasn't a charge for the 15k...interesting. The low profile 13.5 has a heat pump option but is + $400 (with that shipping cost). Thanks for taking the time to answer.

    How hard was the install? Did you need to do any sealing or anything for the airstream roof? I have a 78 excella and about to replace my Coleman Mach III AC. Any feedback would be appreciated.

    • @RevRunRegan
      @RevRunRegan  2 роки тому +2

      The install is pretty simple. You connect it to the wires the old one was connected to. The seal on the AC is made to crush down when you connect the bolts from the inside to the top part. It should seal without needing any sealant, though you could certainly add some. There are a few UA-cam videos with installation instructions that show you everything.

      It's louder than low but still much quieter than other systems.
