    Dude, I had high expectations for this video. You didn't even do what he did. He JOINS them then FREEZES them then SPLITS THEM. Re-make this video please.

      Yeah, you would need to effectively cut an existing magnet after it was frozen for any of this to work. We know what happens when you cut or break a magnet at room temperature. It becomes two dipole magnets. The idea that freezing a magnet could create a stasis effect is interesting, but the validity is hard to tell without real experiments.

    When you were flipping the cold magnets the first time you were flipping them vertically. When you flipped them the second time around you were flipping them horizontally. This is most likely what caused the compass to stick when you were flipping the magnets up and down versus side to side against the compass.

    You are not following instructions properly for this experiment. His theory states that the temperature must be lowered to a point where the magnetic charges become pinned, At least 138 deg Kelvin for neodymium magnets before the spin of the field changes to conical. A standard freezer will do nothing. You have done nothing to disprove the theory. He probably didn't specify the temperature because its different for different magnet types obviously its material dependent.

    Compasses will comply and realign to the field of a magnet. I believe that’s what was happening to you. It’s a thin piece of iron that can easily be demagnetized and remagnetized to a new alignment.

    This video should be entitled "how not to conduct a science experiment." The testing equipment is cheap. The experimenter's hand is shaky. At the end of the video he is holding two magnets stuck together and expect them to represent a monopole magnet. You are not sure of too many things. When looking for solutions, "MAYBE" is just another puzzle therefore another problem.

      I am tempted to conduct the same experiment. I spent time trying to find out how to arrange multiple small magnets to generate the power of large magnets. Then one day I discovered something about magnets that looks significant. I tried to build a prototype but failed because the tools and skills that I have are not able to deliver the precision that the project requires. I have not built a sterling engine either but I have tried. Positive feedback makes me lazy and negative feedback makes me think harder. I have not experimented with freezing magnets but placed some neodymium magnets on my wood stove. The heat demagnetized them overnight. At the same time I had ceramic magnets on that wood stove for years that were still magnetized. However they got weaker each and every year as compared to one hot fire in one night. I watched the monopole magnet experiment on another channel with an open mind. I then watched your video and concluded that it was not convincing because it lacked precision. I have magnets at home and will be putting a couple of them in the freezer. Eventually one day I will remember to take them out right after I watch the videos again. In the meantime, have a Happy Thanksgiving.

    I think his key point was cooling it FAR lower than a freezer, then separating them, being careful to NOT let them touch each other again.
    Can you say Liquid Nitrogen ? Legally you need an approved vented dewar, but some welding gas companies will give you small amounts in a Styrofoam cup if you perform the experiment on-site.
    The compass weirdness could have been caused by putting those VERY strong magnets in too-close proximity to the compass... once you over-power the magnetization of the needle, it will be attracted to either magnetic pole.
    Warning - it's possible to demagnetize a compass this way... first-hand experience speaking here!

    The amount of force applied to the compass bearing would have bent the shaft or destroyed the pivot etc. Like you said they are powerful magnets and compass bearings are fragile.

    I am not claiming mono pole magnets nor oppose the theory, but this experiment(video) is not worthy because it don't prove or disprove what the other guy said. He said if you want to make a mono pole magnet you need to freeze them low enough to hold the particles froze, then separate them while froze and don't place them back together unless you want them to change back. But you were sloppy and careless with the magnets and took them apart , then back together again over and over. Only do it once he said, in essence. Because he said when you put them back together they return to normal. At least do the experiment the way he claims. Maybe that is why your compass was acting up.

      It only works if its really cold... 0 degrees kelvin but that temperature must be maintained or they go back.

      The powerful neodymium magnets can overpower the weak compass magnet and attract the same pole. If you watch carefully, you'll see that the needle does not flip when he flips the big magnet quickly and keeps it near the compass. When he flips it slowly or moves it away and back, the compass behaves as expected.
      The guy in the original video practiced enough to know just how fast or slow he needed to flip the big magnet to get whatever result he wanted. The bar magnets were also very weak. When he demonstrated the attraction of opposites and repelling of like poles, he placed the large magnets on the table and approached them from the side with the bar magnet. When he demonstrated attraction to both poles, he held both magnets and put them directly together. The bar magnet stuck to the very center on one side, but stuck midway from the center to edge on the other. This is due to the donut shape of the magnetic force and why he used very wide and thin magnets.

    I think we are not getting it cold enough, I tried dry ice, then I tried the compressed air in a can holding the can upside down and that was not cold enough, so next I going to find someone with liquid nitrogen or oxygen. if he did it, then it
    can be done! I will let you know when I get it! later mike

    Did he mean "freeze them" as in the freezer or with liquid nitrogen?

      Ramon Preston he never specified. I assume he just used a freezer since liquid nitrogen is rather more unused.

    Sorry to criticize your effort, but as others have pointed out, you did not replicate the experiment that you are trying to debunk. You also did not produce a control set to compare the experimental set with. Even if your experiment had gone well, you would have had no control set with which to support your findings.
    I offer the above only as constructive criticism and feedback.

      As to your video, let me add that, while it lacked form, it was a wonderful effort in that it did not attack the other author. You added information for consideration to, and enhanced, the discussion instead of taking away from it.
      Your video showed what scientific debate and civilized discoure are supposed to be made of--engendering thought, thinking, not necessarily agreement.
