Thank you for the great information on preventing problems with new seedlings. Just in time for my area here in the U.S.. Blessings on your day Sir! 🌻🐛ps learning so much from your videos, thank you
Hello Mr. Charles. I'm still not feeling well since none of my seeds germinated. 😢 I was so excited in late January. I hope my love for gardening is NOT gone away permanently. Keep teaching us, please 🙏🏾
I'm never sure how much people value them because you are the first person to comment. We do plan this, but the camera has broken! And there's a nice series of them at the beginning of each video in this playlist. ua-cam.com/play/PL7WDfop74y-k1a3lMA0ooD5m8bhiKu5sR.html
Oh my gosh go to the longer videos. Amazing time progression. Many many super informative videos where you will see from seed to harvest. Try the multi sow videos. It has been a real bonus for me to plant seeds this way. (Space issues). Blessings!!!
Charles, thank you for sharing! I had another round of seed trays waiting to be washed and sterilized, but not anymore 😉 Phew, one less thing to do during the busy beginning of the season.
Thank you Charles. Not over Watering, as you point out , is so crucial. For me it’s a kind of ‘feel’ that develops using the senses if that makes sense. The margin for success is always greater on the lean side of watering than on saturation side. Are you really that far ahead in sowing for this year? A wake up call to get my skates cleaned and waxed! But not pristine cells! (i never have)🤫
Well said! Feeling it is so good. Sorry, I'm not really that far ahead! We were doing some trials of compost and seeds, hence the over early sowing, and it's now tricky, what to do with these plants!
Phew! All is not lost😂Growing is for me is like being a horticultural gambler. You gotta know when to hold them, know when to fold them, know when to walk away and know when to run…..🎵Kenny Rogers. The amazing thing working with plants is knowing that they want to flourish as much as I want them to. Not many professions have that as a starting point -thanks again

Hey Charles! Even this short video missive has me sorted on a couple of issues. If the value you share was English Breakfast Tea, our cups would runneth over! No worries mate!
@@CharlesDowding1nodig in Zone 8 west coast US, giving coffee and tea a go. Had my first tea seed pop up indoors and hoping to get it outside once mature. Will share my findings later, but I think it's possible.
Thank you! All the way from Oklahoma 7b..now I understand why my chamomile was having such a hard time getting oxygen from being packed too tightly in the container..
its also the fact that the compost has such a healthy eco system that the bad bacteria, fungi, nemetods, ect. dont have much wiggle room to begin with. i think that's a big factor in play.
It's very late in the year for sowing onions, I would not do that. Onion seeds store badly after they are one year old and there's a lot of old, weak onion seeds knocking around so it could be that
@CharlesDowding1nodig yes, I've tried buying new seed every year but the problem is all year round and every year not just now. These are indoors with heat and light. Here in NE Spain it's just starting to get cold now so these seedlings would have overwintered. I'm going to keep sowing every month or so all year with 4 or 5 varieties, maybe trying different composts, depths, pre soaking etc.. Don't want to have to rely on bought sets or plantlets.
@@CharlesDowding1nodig thanks for your immediate answer! Yess, I know the temperature kills, I didn't finish my thought, sorry. So to prohibit new fresh seeds landing on the compost the tarp helps a lot I thought. In the end, that's a square-meter in compare to a cubic-meter of compost, so it would not be too bad ;-) . I just was excited, as you do not seem to buy the expensive earth for seedlings we get here in the garden shops. I was thinking of steaming some soil in the baking oven this year to have seed-free soil for the seedlings, as last year I had so many "bad" seeds in the soil, I didn't know which were the one's I sowed ... especially as they came later into the soil than the bad stuff ... but steaming kills all the god organisms as well ;-(
Charles your a legend in pointing out these points. You often make content answering what people want to know and worry about!
Thanks 💚
Thank you for your guidance on watering and the myth of attainable or helpful sterility 💓🙏

Sorry to hear that! Please try again and maybe next year starts showing only in the middle of March, perhaps your climate is colder
Mother nature knows best.
Love the time lapse, would be awesome to see more of the overall garden in a year!

Thanks Charles, this was a question I was wanting to ask you. If you was out your seedling trays. (Old guy from Arkansas)🇺🇸
Cool, no wash Steven
Yes, thank you... sterilizing the garden has always just sounded silly to me, it just didn't sit well with my common sense 🤷♀️

Sir Charles, do you leave them in the greenhouse these days when temperatures go falls freezing?
Yes, even if it freezes slightly in there. These are frost tolerant seedlings.
❤ propagation ❤ stock 💐

I keep all my seedlings in trays,i always water from the bottom anyway
My tommy seeds have sprouted two days after sowing. Hi from Beijing

... and seeds of other plants have died in the compost if you keep it covered, right?
Actually, they die, not from being covered, but from there being sufficient heat in the heap, above 50 C, roughly, for a day

If you’re starting inside your home, you may want to use a more sterile “soil”.
Who sterilises their module trays?! That’s hilarious.
