Old cookware is the best. Growing up, Mom had a complete set of Revere copper bottom pots. They hung nicely arranged on our knotty pine paneled kitchen wall. It was the 3 sons’ job to polish the copper. My 80 year old brother and his wife still use this set!
I am LOVING vintage cookware!!! Recently, I bought some vintage cookware on Ebay, as well as a vintage coffee percolator, kmart crock-pot, and Osterizer blender... they really don't make things like they used to..
The trivia item is a ginger root. I love old cookware but had to downsize when I moved into an apartment. I still have more pots and pans than I need. I should donate them to the thrift store so someone can buy them and use them.
I love vintage cookware. I have collected for many years. I have also bought them cheaply at thrift stores before they became expensive the past few years. I have many different vintage brands, from appliances to oven ware.i love mixing up a recipe in a Pyrex Cinderella bowl with a vintage egg beater. I have collected over 80 pieces of vintage blue cornflower corning ware. It is an addiction. I use them all week long and they clean up like brand new. Nothing tastes better than a fresh pot of percolated coffee on the stove top.
Presto Pride was a line of cookware made by a company called Century Metalcraft, it was sold door to door like Tupperware parties, the host would cook a meal and take orders for the cookware, It was associated with the Presto cooperation, with your cookware you got a Presto electric frypan and a griddle, it was very expensive, My aunt got a set of it new in 1959 and used it the rest of her life.
Very cool! Thank you so much for this info. That stuff was built to last, and this piece remains one of my favorites. Thanks for watching and happy cooking 🙏
I snagged a set of stainless-steel waterless cookware made in the USA for not a lot of money and I love it. I've also found vintage cast iron pans which are so much better--they're smoother and not as heavy but are beautiful & work great!
My local Thrift stores have become way to savvy as far as collectability for these items! Their prices have skyrocketed! Unfortunately they Google everything, and price accordingly. Thankfully, I have acquired (pre Google) a sizable amount of vintage cookware, appliances, bakeware, etc. I love cooking, and using them daily. Glad you appreciate it too!
@@IWantToCook yes my mom was a great cook, she passed that down ♥️ the pots have been in constant use since the 50’s I can’t believe how new and shiny they are it’s incredible! I’ve had some pots and pans that I had when my mom was alive I’ve trashed them all! 🙏🏼♥️
I have a 12" version of your disk bottom Revereware fry pan that I bought new at least 30 years ago. It has a lid that's perfect for use with my newer 12" carbon steel wok. I cook for myself, so a 12 wok works just fine. I also found a Revereware disk bottom 2 quart saucepan at a thrift store. My original pan got lost in a move, so I was happy to find a new one - for $6.00. I have zero non-stick cookware.
That Hamilton Beach mixer is from the 1970's or maybe very early 80's. Some models even had a timer dial. Another vintage appliance that is coming back into popularity is the coffee percolator. A lot of companies have went back to producing them.
Thank you for your videos!! I LOVE looking for cookware at thrift stores. I've found some of my best pieces for next to nothing. It's made better and looks great! My latest piece is a copper bowl (made in Portugal) I found last week. It was literally black from tarnish but shined up BEAUTIFUL! I'm amazed more people don't seek vintage cookware. It's made to last.
Fantastic! And great job on finding that bowl and giving it new life. I’m sure you are an awesome caretaker of cookware. Thanks for watching and happy cooking 🙌
Super video! New subscriber here. I adore Revereware - got my set in the late 70s and it’s going strong. My every day kitchen workhorses are from Revereware, Corningware, Lodge cast iron and Lecreuset. Still using my 1978 Sunbeam Mixmaster. These all bring me such joy to use. Recently picked up a 5 qt Corningware ‘Range Topper’ with aluminum bottom. Awesome! Thanks for your excitement on wonderful cookware. You capture my feelings on these things for the kitchen. Great work!
Thank you so much! It’s always fantastic to meet a kindred spirit! It sounds like we even have some similar pieces! Those Rangetopprs are quite rare, and I have only one. And I I’ve an old Sunbeam mixer that I thrifted, too! I love mixing up eggs in it for scrambles. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing. Happy cooking! 🙏
I love selected vintage cookware. I inherited my mom's Griswold cast iron skillet and the cookbook from her wedding. I also have her mother's main Cookbook and what I believe is her Griswold skillet, that has a casting flaw divot and appears to be a second. I also have mom's Griswold meat grinder, that I think I can 'field strip' and reassemble with my eyes closed. I have fond memories of making relish with that grinder. My best second hand find was $1 for 2 stand mixers with manuals at a neighbor's garage sale. One is a 40s Hamilton Beach (model E, I think), the other is a 50s Sunbeam Mixmaster 5.
@@IWantToCook Hi! Yes I certainly do. Many pieces have a known history. I also love my gadgets. I have some newer kitchen gadgets, but may are older than me. I get what does the job well and work around any precautions of quirks. Things like don't touch the vintage counter oven when in use because it gets hot, and unplug it when it's done because it's safer that way.
Also, because of your videos I've purchased 4 vintage corningware bread pans and a roaster pan. I absolutely love them all! I haven't been lucky enough to find my corningware at thrift stores in my area so had to purchase them all from ebay. However I didn't think the prices were too bad.
@@IWantToCook I just found a Cornflower Blue 4 Qt Dutch Oven that needed very little cleaning at a garage sale for $1.50. I couldn't believe the price when I looked at it. Needless to say, I snatched it right up!

Hi Matt, would the disk bottom Revere skillet work on induction? Thanks and love all the vintage cookware!!!! The best ever deal I got a Goodwill was for a Griswold Chicken fryer in perfect condition! For $10!!!!! It was the deal of the century!!!
So I just checked and, no, the disc-bottomed Revereware is a no-go on induction. To my surprise, the Presto Pride, however, does pass the induction test. @@IWantToCook Thanks so much!!! I wonder if the Presto Pride was made by the people that make the Presto Pressure Cooker. They dabble in lots of things, even today inclding slow cookers and electric skillets. I continue to love your channel!
Cast iron, can't get any older than that. I switched to cast iron for just about everything. I will never buy a nonstick again. They just don't last like Revere or cast iron.
Hi Chef, I saw your other video about Corningware with the blue cornflower and you talk about the thrift stores. Love the idea saving money! But my question is what about the lead in the older Corningware? Also can you PLEASE comment on using aluminum foil in toaster ovens, hear that is not healthy for you because of leaching out. Love your channel! Thanks!
Hey thanks so much for watching; I truly appreciate your viewership. So, regarding vintage CorningWare and lead: As I understand it, any lead that was used was in the EXTERIOR emblem, which would not come into contact with food on the inside of the cookware. If you are still concerned, you might want to look for CorningWare in just plain white with no emblems. I believe that was called French White, and there is a lot of it out there. Regarding aluminum foil in toaster ovens, I don't have an opinion on that one. I line the crumb tray of mine with aluminum foil for easier cleanup. Of course, if this is a concern for you, skip the aluminum foil. There is always parchment paper for cooking trays and such. Hope this helps!
I just bought this copper core HomEc stock pot. Couldn't find much info besides they're from the 60s and resemble Alot of the West bend vintage stuff. Have you ran across anything like them?
I haven’t from that brand, but I think you are on the right path about West Bend. Seems they made cookware for or under many brands, and every one I’ve come across is quality. I have a big avocado green stockpot from a brand under West Bend, and I love it. Coincidentally, I believe West Bend was acquired by Regal Ware, which is still making quality cookware here in the USA. 👍
@IWantToCook yeah your right about the new ownership. A lot of that waterless cookware was made really similar and I just can't find much info on them to differentiate
While I can understand that reasoning for a second, I also wonder if such people have ever eaten at a restaurant? Every utensil you put in your mouth and every skillet used to cook your food is waaaaay more than "second-hand." It's been used hundreds of times. With proper cleaning and sanitation, though, it's fit to be used once again. I use the same logic when I buy my second-hand cookware. Everything gets a serious cleaning and sanitation, just as I do after I cook in general. Cheers!
