Each cup was supposed to have four races, and Purple Gem Cup would be a race against the bosses, but since the bosses were programmed with something that disabled them from being playable before the release date, they could not be playable, and the bosses were removed from Purple Gem Cup. All the cups were cut down to three races as well.
