That's wonderful. I've probably had my copy for about that long as well. Don't remember where I found it. I keep going back to it to get more info for new projects.
This was a very good video of the history of Florida. Thank you for that. Would also have liked to see Henry Flagler/Flagler Railroad and John Ringling, the Circus/wintering headquarters and transportation.
Hello - thanks for he compliment! I did a video on John Ringling & is art museum: ua-cam.com/video/wvFRtpQCHeY/v-deo.html I plan to do more as well as one on Flagler's overseas railroad. I've mentioned him in several other videos.
@@StingrayTomsFlorida Yes, I was just going off the premise of pre-20s and the book. Both of those and the railroads/development around them were pre-20s/land boom era. Thanks for the videos. I love learning more about Florida history.
@@danielcluley870 Yes, there's pretty much only so much that I can share in one video. And there's so many topics of which I can share. Sort of the good/bad issue of historians. We want to share everything, but only have so much time; but that means the topic will always have interesting and useful things to share. I mostly allow subjects to "bubble up to the surface " when they're ready. When I have enough info that i feel 8s enough for a complete enough story. For me, it's less that I pick the topic, that he topic picks me.
The state of Florida has been it's own worst enemy. The water leaving Lk Okee needed cleaning and that's why it went through the Everglades. Digging a canal and sending the water to the gulf was just a quick fix that has now caused the worst red-tide we've ever seen. Just like the Kissimmee chain!
"mass graves" were a typical way to have 'paupers' graves' in communities. Looking at old and some new cemetaries we see segregation by religion, it will be noted.
I have this book on my lap, right now! I found it in Cambridge MN. At least 15 years ago

Yes, exactly - the thing is that Okeechobee wasn't like the lake we know today - it's bottom half blended with muck and Everglades.
@@StingrayTomsFlorida the best way to regulate water is definitely not with canals and locks. All that creates is a cesspool
We wreck everything 😞
