Once many years ago my wife, daughter, and i went to Colorado on a "prospecting" trip. While i was down at the river digging, and grunting away my two lovelies were out gathering "pretty" rocks. We had an old mountain school bus that i had converted into a camper. The bed was on a platform across the rear. Mom and dads cave, as our daughter so aptly put it. Anyway, got a little of that yeller stuff, maybe a 1/2 oz for the week, but vacation soon ended and i had to get back to work (grrr). I was consulting with a mill in NM so it wasn't really that bad. Dropped the clan off at the house and drove about 100 miles to work. Was there for about 3 weeks and needed some more storage so i opened the back door of the bus and tried to slide some stuff under the bed. Not! Seems as they were picking up the purdy rocks they'd put them in a bucket and slide them under the bed. No room anywhere else. So called my better half and she asked me if i could crush them and extract the gold out of them. Had a few hours left waiting on some test to get done so, i did. Recovered 3.65 oz's. Here i am busting my arse off at the river with just a little to show for my long hrs. and she's toodling around drinking her PBR's and finding purdy rocks. Well, gosh gee Jason, three years in a row we went back to the same spot and nothing more. I even bought more PBR thinking she had to be in the "right" state of mind. Oh well. Brought back a memory to this old coot. Nice adventure. Be-Au-tiful gold. I learned one thing out of that Colorado trip. Don't crush the rock. Years later and i still wake up in a cold sweat wondering...always wondering haunted by memories of the past...:-)

That’s awesome that you got to go back to Lake Superior. Looks like you found a lot of fine gold. I’d love to see you weigh the gold up at the end to see how much you found running the beach sand through that VDR sluice. By the way, that VDR sluice works really good catching that fine gold. I’m 100% sure the amount of gold you caught would’ve moved the scale on the cleanup. That was nice spending time with family. Looks like the enjoyed the day out. Thanks for sharing.

Looks fun Jason…..ps scrub out any tub or bucket you put concentrates into with jet dry and water With a stiff brush, Because the gold will get caught up in every little scratch and use a flat spray to wash out everything you scrub to get out all the gold…..does make a deference.

Jason, you should mark your greatest gold finds using GPS! That's what we do when beach mining our Cornish coast. Years ago I thought GPS was twaddle, but *no!* GPS will always bring you back to your greatest gold finds. This one your best, so I saved it. Happy days! Wendi & my gals 🌻 PS. An awesome channel. Thanks for your effort. Just a thought from a chair sitting miner... if you ran only 6 pails and exect you are having gold go over the end that you will need a lot longer sluice for 20 pails? Or maybe wash off the sluice for panning at the end of the day every 4 or 5 pails?

👀😲 Awesome GOLD there ‼️ I understand AVON Skin so Soft lotion will help with the flies and mosquitoes (they hate it) also a laundry fabric softener sheet in the a belt loop keeps them at bay. You've got that sand figured out, there's going to be lots of Gold in your pans.🤠⛏️👍

Beach gold has me curious. Where would the gold be if it was right in the waters edge? Perhaps just under the cobbles? Retreating waves would pull the light sand deeper, leaving the heavies behind, perhaps?
Have you tested the waters edge?
Do you have some empty black sand to put in the edge of the water to see where it goes?
It definitely does that but I’ve never had any luck with material in the water ✅
Another great day at the beach panning for gold with lots of Au for all your efforts. A great outing for the ladies as well and dogs. A win win that day. Like the say the best day at work always pales compared to the worst day out panning for gold.
