Dozens of Yoruba rappers have blown up since then. I've been to Kebbi, Sokoto, Borno, Niger and Kano and Plateau, to name a few northern States, and I steadily hear them blasting Hausa rap songs in their keke napeps and barbershops; just like Kannywood, their rappers are regional but very relevant to their pop culture. Yet upcoming Igbo Rappers are still wallowing in obscurity. It hurts man. I heard Mpandia in 2016, and I believed Tidinz was destined for greatness. Alas, Nigeria happened to him, no thanks to a music industry that won't give Igbo afrobeat a chance, even though many of the record label execs are Igbo themselves. RIP Tidinz. You definitely did more than ji a gwolu agwo.
