- In this video we explore the world of waist finder film camera accessories! A small but very interesting subsect of analog accessories.
Part one focuses on shoe mounted waist level finder accessories, while part 2 covers modular SLRs and their versatility.
One unique accessory I wish I could have covered in this video is Canons "speed finder" which can quickly swap between eye and waist level. That might deserve its own video though so get subscribed to see that!
Also, while I touch on TLRs and show cameras with integrated waist level finders like the Kyocera T series, they do not fall into the accessories category and also could use their own videos.
I have already talked about the Kyocera/Yashica T series and you can find that video here;

with TLR videos soon to come!

cool video. id love one of the 35mm leitz finders but people charge obscene money for them 😅
Thanks for the comment! Yeah the Leitz finders are seen as collectors items so they've gotten really expensive. Their quality is fantastic and the size makes them so useful but the 28mm version is basically non existent and the 35 is pricy. The 50mm version can be more reasonable though. I have another interesting finder I'd like to talk about on the channel soon!
Enjoying your channel David. Solid content, clear presentation and great production values. Love the vantage point of the waist-level finders on TLRs. Thought about getting a waist level finder for my Pentax LX but not sure how I'd like it in portrait orientation. How do you like the C Biogon 35? Really regret selling mine. Tiny gem of a lens.
Thank you so much for the kind words of support! I really appreciate it. If you like waist level framing it is probably worth having one for your pentax for when its appropriate! Unfortunately vertical framing with a waist finder can be pretty disorientating haha but if you can swap the finders out relatively quick it does give you some flexibility! The Biogon 35 is a fantastic lens! On film and stopped down a bit i cant really distinguish it from my 35mm summicron asph, so I use it as an alternative if im worried about equipment getting damaged. I want to do a video on the biogon but havent found the right vantage point haha thanks again for the support! I hope to have more videos out soon!
@@TheWholePicture コスパ of Zeiss glass was/is hard to beat. Looks like you've been able to play with a lot of different gear. I worked in Ginza for 10 years and spent many lunch breaks window shopping. Weather in Tokyo has been picture perfect. Enjoy your Golden Week. Looking forward to your next video.
Haha! One of the many phrases in Japanese that sums things up concisely! The C Biogon 35 is also the perfect size for rangefidners, and I rarely find the need to open up passed 2.8 anyways so it doesnt even necessarily feel like a compromise during the day.
Ah very cool! All the shops in Ginza are fantastic but unfortunately the prices lately mean I don't pick up as many toys as I used to...
Thank you and I hope you have a good Golden Week as well! Hopefully you were able to enjoy some of the sakura this year, I did what I could between the rain but one of the videos in the pipeline is about photographing during the rainy season!
