  • I went to visit BASTL INSTRUMENTS in february 2017, and took the opportunity to shoot a documentary about them. It's rather like a community than a company, so it wasn't easy capturing the whole picture.

Un Usuario sorry about the delay in getting back to you I have only just seen your comment! I got Kastle. Then got Bitranger, dude and Softpop. All used regularly in my music stuff and experiments.

Same here. First got the Kastle version 1.0 and then got the Softpop. The Softpop became my favorite synth and still is.

Ahhh.... alma mater :) Great documentary, but I have to say it's nothing compared to actually being there. The entire place is overflowing with creative energy, and I'm glad I was able to share it for a while. It's quite unbelievable what happened with Bastl in three years! Big shout out to woodworking crew!

Bastl got my attention with one of their videos hosted by a woman. Now, I have four modules from them, love them all. It's funny how these little things make such a difference for girls trying to start on electronic music. Great documentary, only wished it had an interview with one of the bastl ladies, they are mentioned so briefly at the end.

In my mind, Brno carries a reputation of unique and high quality design and construction, often at very competitive price points. This is coming from the perspective of a hunter and target shooter. I'm just getting into making music, and it is very nice to see this reputation is cross pollinating to music in Brno. This video has me dreaming of a visit once it's safe to travel again.

fabulous documentary Cuckoo, thanks. They seem like such an inspiring company, no...community! I think you really touched on something at the end with the idea of the group working collectively. More and more with these young companies driven by curiosity and the desire to overcome whatever obstacles are keeping them from pursuing their dreams, you get a sense of 'the shift in perception' which aligns their passions with the wider community. The shift seems inherently ethical and sustainable. They are the future! Thanks again x

Very good. Thank you cuckoo. Really interesting.
I find as my musical career progresses, that I am wanting to move away from the Roland and Korg musical offering's (although very thankful for a helpful starting place), and tentatively explore other musical designers and mavericks, if you will, in the hope of one day actually being able to get my head around this dream of creating an opus of such magnitude that it would quite literally be described as a monument to mankind and thus ending all wars and greed. And...
Oh damn... I thank I'm a bit inebriated... So sorry...
